In a valley lies a place to sit, of sand coloured blocks that rise from the earth. The dark grey roof reaches high into the sky, where eagles soar, hunt and glide. The veranda circles, long and wide, and wombats dig beneath and hide. Kookaburras greet the start of day, and frogs chirp in numbers throughout the night. Parrots, Galahs, squawk and take flight, as kangaroos descend, to square up and fight. An hour’s drive from the world’s most liveable city, an hour’s drive to another world of peace and tranquillity. Come and sit, Tallawarra, say the local people, Welcome to Tallawarra Homestead. Yes, come and sit! Tallawarra Homestead is situated at Tonimbuk, a picturesque location on the edge of West Gippsland, an hour’s drive from the Melbourne CBD. Nestled into the surrounding countryside, the environment at Tallawarra is one of tranquility and peace, a place to recharge the battery, and rediscover you. Tallawarra Homestead is a certified 5 Star rated Property, Quality Tourism Accredited Business and Sustainable Tourism Accredited Business.

Our hosts Andre and Janine were friendly and attentive. The facilities were spotless and beautifully presented. The environment was peaceful and relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay, watching kangaroos, listening to the abundant bird life and sitting by the fire. Also, Janine makes great scones. 👍

Thank you for your review, and the big thumbs up for the scones! Its great when our guests can relax and unwind from their busy lifestyles, we all deserve to take a break! The tranquility of our surrounds enhance our guests experience of peace and serenity and we have the pleasure of watching guests take time to spoil each other and just enjoy the other partners company instead of rushing on to the next thing on their job list. Our wildlife is abundant and guests have many opportunities to just sit and enjoy nature at its best as you both did over your 3 day break. Thanks again for the review!

One word sums up our Tallawarra Homestead experience, exceptional. The heart and soul of Tallawarra are Andrey and Janine who have created an environment where every guest feels welcome and treated like family. I have done extensive travel, and the attention to detail in everything they do from their attentive service, to their furnishings and cleanliness are by far the best I have experienced. The surrounding area is beautiful, nature at its best. The walks, sunsets, and wildlife make for the perfect romantic recharge from city life. Thank you Janine and Andrey for such a wonderful stay, you are amazing hosts and beautiful people.

You cannot review this place without writing about the hosts(Andrey and Janine) first. They are the most warm and welcoming people that I have come across. They have built an experience that will leave you wanting for more. They have an impeccable taste in designing and maintaining the property. The experience comes with a morning breakfast which Janine will take you over. We opted for the cooked breakfast which was very well made. The whole property has an antique but modern look about it. The rooms are clean with top notch amenities. There is a indoor deck area which has an amazing view. In the evenings we sat there with a wine and they play soothing music which helps you relax. You can also see Kangaroos relaxing in distance. All in all we loved this place. It's a perfect place for a romantic getaway.

Perfection: a state of completeness, flawlessness, or supreme excellence. In one word, that would describe Janine, Andrey and Tallawarra Homestead. We have just enjoyed two nights in this exquisite, tranquil and peaceful rural setting. Janine and Andrey are the most charming, welcoming and attentive hosts you could possibly ask for as they go out of their way to make you feel welcome and attend to all of your needs. Every aspect of the homestead exudes quality from its tasteful and stunning décor, delightful Coolgardie room overlooking the hills to the intimate reading room. Bedrooms are luxurious and extremely clean – and what a delight in the morning to be greeted with a scrumptious continental (divine home made bircher muesli) and cooked breakfast. Then in the afternoon you are treated to Janine’s famous afternoon tea – delicious scones with chantilly cream and homemade strawberry jam. Thank you again for an extremely delightful stay and we look forward to seeing you again. Roger and Judith

We appreciate it so much when our guests can see the effort that we make to ensure they have a memorable stay as demonstrated by your review. Our guests inspire us to continue to improve in anyway to make Tallawarra Homestead a wonderful experience. We are very flattered with your descriptions of afternoon teas and breakfast offerings. We also wanted to let you know the name of the rose you particularly admired. It is called Maurice Utrillo. We wish you both safe travels and good luck for all your future plans.

I just spent an incredibly relaxing 3-day weekend in West Gippsland as a bit of a country-change (given I live by the sea!) Tallawarra Homestead is just the most beautiful place. Every small detail has been thought of to make it feel both sumptuously elegant and having a welcoming and homey feel. Janine & Andrey are the most generous hosts, making sure you're not neglected at any point. Serving the options of a cooked or continental breakfast at a time that best suits your needs and offering up refreshments at will all day, if you find yourself relaxing with a book in one of the inviting armchairs or sofas. The local area around Tonimbuk offers walking trails that are both challenging and picturesque as well as a range of boutique wineries not to be missed and is close to the Bunyip State Forest if the desire to explore the bush takes your fancy. Highly recommend what is essentially a beautiful home run by a lovely couple who welcome you through their doors. Will definitely be back! Jill
