In a valley lies a place to sit, of sand coloured blocks that rise from the earth. The dark grey roof reaches high into the sky, where eagles soar, hunt and glide. The veranda circles, long and wide, and wombats dig beneath and hide. Kookaburras greet the start of day, and frogs chirp in numbers throughout the night. Parrots, Galahs, squawk and take flight, as kangaroos descend, to square up and fight. An hour’s drive from the world’s most liveable city, an hour’s drive to another world of peace and tranquillity. Come and sit, Tallawarra, say the local people, Welcome to Tallawarra Homestead. Yes, come and sit! Tallawarra Homestead is situated at Tonimbuk, a picturesque location on the edge of West Gippsland, an hour’s drive from the Melbourne CBD. Nestled into the surrounding countryside, the environment at Tallawarra is one of tranquility and peace, a place to recharge the battery, and rediscover you. Tallawarra Homestead is a certified 5 Star rated Property, Quality Tourism Accredited Business and Sustainable Tourism Accredited Business.

Firstly, id like to take this opportunity to thank Janine and Andrey for creating such an Amazing experience for my Husband and I. Firstly on our wedding night and then again to have a little time away from home and our crazy everyday life.
Tallawarra Homestead is a little slice of heaven. Janine and Andrey were absolutely wonderful hosts, they greeted us upon arrival and were there to give us such a relaxing and pleasurable experience. Nothing was any trouble for either of them and they made sure that we never had to worry about a thing. From the hospitality, to the décor and its homely elegant atmosphere , to the beautiful and delicious home cooked Big Breakfast, the fresh juices and fresh coffee, to the complimentary chocolates, port, fruit and fresh flowers upon arrival.
The Homestead was so much more than my husband and i could have imagined, we spent our nights by the warmth of the toasty wood fire, sipping away on our champagne, enjoying the peace and quiet. We also got to experience the Harmony Room....Absolutely Devine & Tranquil, the stresses seamed to disappear, surrounded by beautiful lighting, plants, low couches and the room smelt Amazing. A great place to unwind in private. The bed we stayed in was so comfortable! The linen was crisp and fresh, the bed was truly amazing and we didn't want to leave it. The shower was so hot and relaxing, along with the beautiful smelling soaps and body washes provided to us. The views of the Homestead are Devine, being greeted by beautiful Rosellas and the birds in the morning whilst sipping on coffee. Whilst on the decking, it blew our minds to see so many Kangaroos hopping past in the Neighboring paddocks. Andrey and Janine, if we could rate you 10 stars, we definitely would!! You were not only perfect hosts, but people we have become friends with. We will be forever grateful for all of the time and effort you both put into giving us such an unforgettable experience. Thankyou so much, we will definitely be visiting again.

Thank you so much for this heartwarming review of our business—it's just nothing short of amazing! We are both humbled by such positive words and kind thoughts and special mentions for us as the host. We acknowledge that when we opened the door to greet you both as our guests, happiness and joy came through the door on such a special night for you both. Thank you for your humbling review. We have read it over and over again, and we are beyond delighted! The praise for the Harmony Room as divine and tranquil and that it impacted your well-being is a precious comment for both of us as this is the final room to be completed at Tallawarra Homestead. Your 10-star comment has us both cheering, and we cannot wait to welcome you back as friends of Tallawarra Homestead. We don't have a way of reviewing guests, but we would give you platinum regarding the impact you both had on your hosts. See you soon, and happy travels until you return to Tallawarra Homestead. Your hosts can't wait to open the door!

Having read so many amazing reviews on Tallawarra, we had pretty high expectations of the place. Our expectations were met in every way possible.

As soon as we walked in, it was like breathing in the essence of relaxation and restoration. My husband and I came to celebrate our anniversary and honestly, it was one of the best things we could have done.

The actual homestead itself is decorated beautifully so that it was a pleasure to be staying there. What we saw on the promotional video and website, was what we got. The place was warm, inviting, peaceful and we were invited to feel right at home.

The port and the Kokoblack chocolate was such a nice treat in the room as well as the coffee and tea making facilities. The beds were comfortable and the pillows felt luxurious.

Some of the other couples staying there drove around in the area to explore but we just stayed put. I brought up my water colour paints and just painted by the fire whilst my husband sat beside me and listened to podcasts while watching the view.

Jeanine and Andrey were amazing hosts. They were very accommodating and we enjoyed several little chats and many laughs. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt pampered with offers of tea and coffee, nuts and extra blankets to sit by the fire with. Breakfast was well cooked, nutritious and comforting. We know the scones get mentioned a lot in the reviews but it's only because they really are a great treat in the afternoon.

We highly reccommend Tallawarra for a couples getaway. If you can, try and stay for more than one night! Expect peace, beauty and warmth - you won't be disappointed!

Jeanine and Andrew, thank you for all the effort and love you put into sharing your home. We are so thankful that you do and we cannot wait to come back.

We understand with guests being so busy with their day to day lives that taking the time to put this much effort into a review is exceptional so a heartfelt thanks from us both for your detailed and delightful review. Like all small businesses at the moment things are challenging to say the least! Our guest reviews are like a pat on the back that we are heading in the right directions and we take great pride in the fact that we exceeded your expectations! You also gave us another handwritten and handmade card as an extra thankyou on the day you departed, again we can only say exceptional! We wish you happy and safe creative journeys wherever your next adventure takes you both and an extra special thankyou once again from Andrey and Janine

We had the pleasure to stay at Tallawarra Homestead for a small family wedding. What an absolute delight from the very moment we arrived we were greeted so warmly by our hosts. Walking into this beautiful home, the vibe from the beginning was one of warmth and calm. The bedroom we stayed in was beautiful and probably the two best nights sleep we’ve had in a while. I was really drawn to the harmony room where I could do yoga and meditate in one of the most beautiful, calming spaces. The daily walk amidst the beauty and wilderness was one I throughly enjoyed.
Nothing was ever to much and every task was done with a smile. We were able to sit and relax and have lovely conversations around the fire which added to the ambiance. Personally for me the breakfast each day of bircher muesli was one of the best ever. Although we were there for a wedding, and a beautiful wedding it was I do look forward to going back for a weekend one day and I just know it will be the same amazing experience.
Thank you very very much.

Andrey and Janine were the most wonderful hosts for our weekend away from the kids. The homestead is beautifully decorated, warm and inviting with different rooms to wander through, plenty of reading material and interesting curiosities and a gorgeous fireplace. Andrey and Janine are intuitive hosts, anticipating any need but keeping the right level of distance when required - and they are simply lovely people. The room we were in was warm and comfortable, an amazing bed, very clean and it had a huge bathroom! Afternoon tea of scones, jam and cream were most welcome and the breakfast the following morning was cooked with care and simply delicious! We highly recommend Tallawarra Homestead for your next weekend ...or week...away!

We are delighted that you enjoyed your escape from the kids! We all need a break sometimes from our daily routines. We often wonder if the kids also enjoy a break too! As an adults only venue we are very pleased to offer this experience to our guests. We are flattered that you have such high praise for us as your hosts, and that you have highlighted our ability to vanish if guests just want to be alone with their loved one. We try very hard to read our guests and offer them the type of break they crave. We are very thankful to have met you both with your passion for travel and your willingness and enthusiasm to help us plan our next great escape to a country that you both obviously adore! We wish you both safe and happy travels in the future and we hope in the not too distant future you will give the kids a break and again visit Tallawarra Homestead to share time together with each other.

On arrival we became aware of the natural beauty and serenity of the whole property along with the classy homestead building at the driveways end. Wildlife obviously abounds in this area with colourful parrots, echidnas, wombats and kangaroos immediately evident.
We relaxed immediately as we met our hosts and entered the beautiful and tranquil homestead building. We were shown around the spacious and comfortably guest areas and our private suite exceeded expectations of comfort and appeal.
Andrey and Janine both proved to be natural hosts with a wonderful way of balancing a genuine friendliness while providing intuitive service. Breakfast and afternoon tea were both delicious and highlights of our stay. We both immensely enjoyed a relaxing drink while sitting around the warming fire each evening.
We believe that it is important for tourism in this region to have the option of excellent establishments, like this, flourishing and available to guests.
Thank you both for a wonderful four days and we will return.

This is truly a wonderful Australian Homestead. Janine and Andrey should feel very proud of themselves of the effort they have put into this property.
There is nothing that can be improved on, they have thought of everything.
As soon as you come off the main road you instantly feel the countryside of quietness, peace and nature.
Our room was lovely, looking out of the front part of the house. Linen was beautiful, bed and pillows very good.

There is an area out the front that you can sit and enjoy the outside fresh air etc.

The big room out the back has been set up so couples or groups can have their own area to enjoy a drink, read or just be. Games are there for those who would like a challenge with their partner.
Andrey made us a lovely cosy fire both nights. We enjoyed a sherry which was complimentary.

Andrey does have a very healthy looking bar if you would like something else to drink.

The decor of the property was exceptional. Beautifully decorated.
Breakfast was enjoyable and there were good options of choice.

If you are wanting an escape to somewhere very special, quiet, private and beautiful Tallawarra is for you.
Last but not least the most important that Andrey and Janine are the nicest people, great to have a chat with and so welcoming to their home. Thank you both for a great stay.

Andrej and Janine go above and beyond to exceed expectations. The homestead is idyllic, a wonderful property surrounded by scenic farmland and bush, with ample opportunity to see Australian wildlife. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and offered afternoon tea, with delicious home made scones and fresh cream. The made to order breakfast was delicious. Behind the beautiful wooden bar is a fine selection of drinks for the connoisseur. In the luxurious room there is fruit, chocolate and port. The hosts pay attention to every detail and the decor is stunning. Plan to spend time in the magnificent sunroom for reading or board games. Leave your phone behind.

My wife and I spent a very relaxing weekend at Tallawarra Homestead hosted by Jennine and Andrey. Our hosts were extremely hospitable, providing very clean and new accommodation with several spaces to relax and enjoy scones with home made jam, sit around a fire with a glass of wine or a hearty breakfast to start the day. The homestead is a short drive from Melbourne, but isolated such that the tranquillity of open space and forest surrounds you and immediately provides a sense of peace and quiet. Highly recommended and we'll be back to recharge. Sebastian

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your recent stay at Tallawarra Homestead. We were very flattered that you commented on the "new accommodation" with our extension to the homestead , We have just celebrated our ten year anniversary from the time the build was completed, and work very hard to ensure everything at Tallawarra Homestead looks as new now as when we finished our build. We love it when our guests discover just how close Tallawarra Homestead is to Melbourne with such a short drive to be out in the country! Thank you for your recommendation and we look forward to your return to recharge your batteries very soon!

Perfection: a state of completeness, flawlessness, or supreme excellence. In one word, that would describe Janine, Andrey and Tallawarra Homestead. We have just enjoyed two nights in this exquisite, tranquil and peaceful rural setting. Janine and Andrey are the most charming, welcoming and attentive hosts you could possibly ask for as they go out of their way to make you feel welcome and attend to all of your needs. Every aspect of the homestead exudes quality from its tasteful and stunning décor, delightful Coolgardie room overlooking the hills to the intimate reading room. Bedrooms are luxurious and extremely clean – and what a delight in the morning to be greeted with a scrumptious continental (divine home made bircher muesli) and cooked breakfast. Then in the afternoon you are treated to Janine’s famous afternoon tea – delicious scones with chantilly cream and homemade strawberry jam. Thank you again for an extremely delightful stay and we look forward to seeing you again. Roger and Judith

My husband and I booked a 3 night stay at Tallawarra as a last resort, after our trip to the Gold Coast got cancelled at the last minute due to COVID lockdowns in QLD. As it was in the middle of school holidays, everything was booked and we just wanted somewhere quiet, where we could chill out together and have a well earned rest. We read some reviews online before booking, and thought we would give Tallawarra go.

Well, we weren't disappointed! Janine and Andrey were absolutely wonderful hosts and couldn't have done anything to make our stay more enjoyable. We were greeted on arrival, checked in, shown our room, given a tour and had our brekkie order taken. We were even treated to afternoon tea!! Freshly baked scones with homemade jam, I was in heaven! The breakfast is also amazing, you likely won't need lunch!

The room we stayed in was beautifully decorated, had an en-suite bathroom and plenty of room should we have wanted to rest in the room on our own. The guest spaces are all wonderfully spaced out at Janine and Andrey have really tried to make sure you don't feel on top of the other guests. There were books to read, game to play and beautiful soft jazz playing gently throughout the house. We spent most of our days out walking, visiting local wineries, and I spent a lot of my time knitting and crocheting by the wood burner in the beautiful back sunroom.

Andrey was always on hand to offer guidance about local places to visit, helping us to make dinner reservations, and just generally being a legend. Janine's baking is amazing, eat all the cake you can, and don't say no to afternoon tea! The pair managed to successfully balance being amazing, welcoming hosts and having a chat with you and making you feel incredibly welcome, whilst also leaving you alone to enjoy your stay. Not easy to achieve, it was most impressive! We had the best time, and would happily recommend Tallawarra and will definitely return. Thank you for an amazing holiday.

Charlie your review is just a "cracker"..., thank you so much for your very timely review, it could not have come at a better time for us. We needed a boost! As one of so many small businesses in Victoria we just did not need another lockdown! So we will continue to keep going until we all escape lockdown and we all return to thinking about our next great holiday adventure. We believe Tallawarra Homestead is a special luxurious place, close to the CBD, a place to relax and recharge the batteries and enjoy the tranquility of the Australian countryside. Our future guests will be reading your review and you will help them make the decision to make a future booking with us! We rely on our guests giving their honest feedback on their experiences and you have covered everything ! Janine thanks you also for your kind comments about the special treats we offer and is delighted that you enjoyed every bite! We look forward to your return in the future please start planning your next break in our stunning countryside! Best wishes to your both!
