Everything about Squires Manor is steeped in history, which you'll have a chance to learn at every turn. We stayed in the Maid's Chamber, a smallish room (as you might expect) but with a spacious bathroom. We learned that the steps lead to what was the nursery and even though the room could have been built on the same plane...

On a regular basis we return to my husband's boyhood home of Maquoketa. This time we decided to stay at Squires Manor B&B after several unsatisfactory stays at other area hotels and much to our delight we were treated like royalty. The greeting at the door "enter as strangers, leave as friends" is exactly what happened to us. Following a...

We decided to stay at the Squiers Mannor for a couple of days over Easter weekend. The place is kept very clean, but more important, the decor is true to the history of the house. The hospitality offered by Kathy and Viril is outstanding. They make you feel so welcome from the moment you step into the house. The breakfast...

My wife surprised me on my 60th birthday celebration by booking two nights in the quiet Midwestern town of Maquoketa, Iowa where an elegant and fully restored Queen Anne Victorian Mansion houses a Bed and Breakfast of epoch splendor and “World Class” 5 Star Service! Filled with a complete array of period antiques, welcoming homey atmosphere, spotlessly clean, and staffed...

We stayed here for a weekend getaway. We have stayed at many bed & breakfasts and this is the best yet. The house seems to be perfectly restored to the original condition. The owner has decorated with period correct furnishings. The entire home is immaculate and the room we stayed in was so clean. We had a tour of the...

We were treated very warmly by the staff. We were given deserts in the evening and a home cooked (some of the food locally grown) breakfast, which was delicious! The house was beautiful, quaint, clean, comfortable, and well-kept. Our room was cozy. A very nice getaway for us! We would definitely recommend it!

What a great B&B in a cute town. Close to Dubuque and Galena. Kathy takes care of her guests. Breakfast and dessert were delightful and interacting with other guests was enjoyable. Rooms are really large, comfortable and true to the period. This is a real gem.

Upon arrival the innskeeper, Kathy, took us on a complete tour of the B&B including the history of the house and the original family. The whole house is furnished in time period pieces so the bedrooms and furnishings are amazing. . . .transferring you to a past time. We were made to feel like visiting relatives, part of the family...

We had an excellent stay at Squiers Manor in Maquoketa, Iowa. The hosts, Kathy and Virl, were so friendly, kind, and very welcoming. The rooms were beautiful and very clean. Each room was beautifully decorated with antique furniture, but also very comfortable. They served breakfast in the grand dining room with all home made food, which included home made syrups,...
