Arriving midweek, we were the only guests at the mansion. We were greeted by Florence who provided a quick introduction to Burlington. I don’t think we have ever stayed in a B & B that offered such spacious accommodations as the Becky Thatcher room. Furnishings were dated but clean. After we came back from supper, Florence joined us for a...

Spacious and clean room. The Becky Thatcher is a very luxurious accommodation. We very much enjoyed the historic atmosphere and Victorian architecture of this 19th century mansion. The proprietor served exceptional, generous breakfasts; we were pleasantly served at the dining room and at the bay window. What a beautiful home. If you would like a peaceful and relaxing place to...

Beautifully restored home with a nice view and warm atmosphere. We were able to reserve a room by phone just a few hours before we arrived in Burlington. Our room was large, lovely and comfortable. We appreciated being asked what time we wanted breakfast. Breakfast was just perfect, served in an elegant dining room, with our friendly hostess attending.

Although we were not able to experience the complete package MMBB had to offer because our schedule the next morning required us to leave before breakfast, Florence was a great host. The house, like almost all of them in this area, was older but well cared for. Hardwood floors, old winding staircase and beautiful sitting rooms and wrap around porch....

The Mississippi Manor is such a gorgeous place. From the high ceilings to the perfectly cozy couches, this B&B was the warmest place I have ever been. Our stay was so relaxing and I'm so glad we chose The Manor. It's within walking distance of the town which was perfect as we just wanted to look around our first day....

We arrived in Burlington without a reservation. Driving along the riverfront, we discovered the tourist center. Decided to see if they knew of a B&B that might have a room available for one night. So often, you are required to stay 2-3 nights at a B&B. They gave me a list of B&B's and I had already talked to one...

Mississippi Manor is a beautiful old house with gloriously high ceilings and copious amounts of hard wood that was painstakingly refurbished. The rooms are probably some of the most spacious I have seen in most any B&B. We stayed in the Becky Thatcher Suite and the bathroom was so large--two sinks and a two person jacuzzi--I felt like a Dutchess....

This was a great little B&B in Burlington. I promised my husband a weekend of baseball in the Iowa river valley, but also wanted to find nice places to stay so we could check out the historic downtowns. This B&B was within walking distance of the downtown and close to the river (just a couple blocks), but was on a...

I was visiting Burlington doing research for a book and found the Mississippi Manor exceeded my expectations in every way. It's a comfortable, charming B&B located at the edge of downtown, within walking distance of the Mississippi River, downtown, the historic district. The host was informative and welcoming and, as always with B&Bs, the fellow guests interesting and fun.

A beautiful home from before the civil war, beautifully restored and furnished. Very inviting despite the furniture almost too special to sit on. Amazing chandelier in the larger parlor. The three bedrooms are on the second floor. Each is large, each has an incredible bed. Breakfast was tailored to our taste and diet--and was served at the time we chose....

“Visit the website, the Becky Thacher is the best room available. All rooms are on 2nd floor, but worth it.”

“I believe the Becky Thatcher suite is the largest and faces the river. Tom Sawyer room faces north and does not have an interesting view”

“The Becky Thatcher is on the street side, but that defiantly does not take away from the gorgeous room with a huge bathroom. The Tom Sawyer is a bit smaller and cozier. The Mark Twain is the best "family" room as it has a large bed as well as a pull out couch! We've tried out all three rooms and were very happy with them all.”
