Comfortable, convenient, and not far from Chicago, our Days Inn Portage hotel is a perfect spot to kick off your Lake Michigan adventure. We are located just off I-94 and I-80/90/Indiana Toll Road, between South Bend and the Windy City. Our hotel is an affordable favorite for people who travel cross-country on the toll road, sports fans who enjoy events in the Chicagoland area, and families who are looking for a stop by the beach. In addition to both major east-west highways, the hotel is near the South Shore train station, the Greyhound bus station, and a stop for the shuttle bus to both O'Hare and Midway Airports.

I generally enjoy Days Inn as a hotel and a place to safely stay for a night or 2 when on the road. This place however, has fallen short of the Days Inn Brand and should not be allowed to operate. I checked in to this hotel around 10 PM at night expecting to be quickly given my keys and on my way to my room. Once I arrived at the check in counter there was a line of at least 4 other guests waiting to be checked in AND there was construction workers tiling the floors, painting with ladders, plastic sheeting, hardware, and tools out everywhere. One guests accidentally stepped on a tile and was yelled at by the construction worker at 10 PM! Unfortunately this hotel was obviously owned by an independent dealer and was very unprofessional. Once I reached my room after about 40…

This hotel is close to the Interstate and semi close to a casino. We used this hotel as a lay over spot. Good value for the price- could be a little cleaner. Our toliet barely flushed- my only complaint.

Do you get what you pay for? At $67/night, we got a leaky shower head, not that the building was so dirty but overall upkeep and appearance was lacking, the beds and the staff were nice, breakfast isn't much to talk about.

Overall, the hotel was a good value for the stay. We didn't spend a lot of time in the room but it was clean, sheets were allergy safe. There were no cotton pillows so I had to wrap the pillow in an extra sheet due to a feather allergy. The room smelled a little musty but I was able to clear that in one go with some fabreze. Bed was rather comfy though you cannot sit at the end of the king bed unless you want the mattress to fly up. Decently sized empty fridge means you can put beverages or food leftovers in it. The breakfast time is 0530 to 0900 which ended a little early for me. Laundry services appeared to be on site. Bathroom had some sloppy caulking in the tub (dried bits of caulk stuck to the bottom and sides of tub) but it had a very nice heat lamp with the fan so…

Room smelled musty, lots of stains on the bed and pillows. Black mold throughout the bathroom. It was disgusting! The bathroom faucet was hanging from the wall in the tub and you could see through a hole in the wall.

The hotel room was pleasant looking. However, the bed sagged in the middle. My husband and I rolled toward each other to the middle of the bed! Also the sheets made us itch all night. Not sure of the cause, but the result is that we did not sleep much! The lights in the bathroom went on and off automatically. They went out while I was in the shower! The hallways needed vacuuming. Ceiling tiles were missing. Stains on furniture. Torn chairs in dining area.
