Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Attended as a car run. Forty of us for lunch, Yes we booked in, Good meal and great service in a very pleasant environment. Quite a histirical area & very pretty even in mid summer. Just up the road to the famous " Kelly Tree" or 35 mins in the opposite direction to Benalla. Accom available.

We had dinner here on a Saturday night as a group of 4 friends, what a really enjoyable evening.

Our waitress was exceptional from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. She was attentive and engaging but also knew when to leave us alone.

We all enjoyed our meals, servings were generous without being over the top. All meals were of high quality taste wise.

I would call the tavern a country pub serving restaurant food, overall 10/10. Prices were very reasonable considering the quality.

This would be the perfect location for a Sunday session and/or long lunch. Outside had a lovely garden.

We will definitely return if in the area again

Always looking for somewhere to take my 94 year old mother out to lunch. Today was wonderful enjoyable little drive from Benalla, the publicans most welcoming, table beside a warm fire, lovely menu and quite a good food selection. The pub has a warm old English feel to it and very clean and tidy. Will be revisiting it was mid week and quite a few people for lunch.

I have been here before. It was a few years ago, and it was an enjoyable atmosphere and service. But I was disappointed at my last visit. Service was poor. Expensive steak sandwich (17.50 each ), which took 50 (yes 50) minutes to arrive and was a very average meal. Don't think I'll be visiting again.

Have been here before and was great! New owners now. poor quality food, ordered plougmans lunch. very disappointed, miniscule amount of bread, very little meat ( couple of slices of salami only) and gourmet sides included tinned pineapple! !! such a shame asis a lovely drive out to pub but not worth the meal

Just passing and dropped in and had a great lunch.the new owners were very friendly and very accommodating . Made us feel right at home and staff were great. The food was good old pub food with a twist. we will be back. Beautiful little pub with great shady beer garden. Sooooo peaceful. Very chilled. We would defiantly recommend it!!

I have stayed at the Tatong Tavern a number of times over the years and it never ceases to amaze me how the rustic charm and historic atmosphere melt together to have made each visit a delight. The manager Stan is a friendly ranconteur and generous host who bent over backwards to ensure we were well looked after. My last stay in April 2014 was no different. Comfy bed, great food and a large range of drinks to get one through the night. Can't recommend this place enough, complete with resident ghost (apparently) and friendly locals. Long live the Tatong Tavern!

This is a pub which is foodies heaven. The new chef has improved and minimised the menu, also the wine list is pretty good. The accommodation is not the best but for one night you will live. The hosts are both friendly and do their utmost to insure you have a pleasant visit. This really is a pub with no town and if you ae not careful you will drive right past this charming little establishment

The mock tudor style makes this an unusual sight in a quiet rural valley so does the excellent food and wine available. We dropped in for Sunday lunch and were met with friendly efficient service, an interesting menu and a good wine list.

The atmosphere was relaxing and the walls were filled with historic photos and paintings. The food was excellent as was the service in a relaxed friendly country way.

We will be back to sample more of this country hospitality and next time we will bring some friends so we cam show off this great little find.
