Detailed Reviews
We stayed for a couple of nights having travelled nearly 4000km to Melbourne. It is a basic Motel but we were comfortable enough for the short stay in our upstairs room. A resident white cockatoo greeted us on the balcony rail upstairs but do take care not to feed them or they will follow you in or tap on the door!
The bathroom was clean and bed linen clean, but as others say the carpet and furnishings are tired. Tea and coffee and fridge in room but no microwave. There is a laundry available downstairs.
As we had an experience far worse in accommodation 2 nights before, I found the stay okay. We were there a Friday and Saturday night and apart from some fireworks going off @ 9.30 nearby one night it was reasonably quiet.

I recently stayed here for one night with a large group of friends as we were all attending a birthday party down the road at The Pool Room. Location was a bit noisy on the highway but then again for $149 for a double room (2 couples stayed here but had room for another 3 or 4 people) who cares! The room was ok, a bit rough around the edges....but had the basics - although our room had only one fridge even though it was two rooms joined a connecting door! You get a discount at the hotel for meals etc.. and they were pretty hearty fare. Not somewhere i would plan to stay long but for a pit stop when travelling....it was pretty good for the price!

Needed to find accommodation to attend my nephews wedding in the dandenongs.
This motel was clean, good price, had good sized rooms and great shower.
The trees close by and the birds coming to sit close by on the balcony made this an even more special place to be.
The buffet dinner at the hotel was well priced, had a lot of variety and delicious. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
I recommend this as a good place to stay to explore the dandenongs and of course in the other direction go shopping at fountain gate.

We had booked a table of 14 at the FTG Hotel. We had been there several times before, so we knew what to expect. Previously, the food and the service was very good which made for a very happy lunch. However, this time was quite the opposite. They had cut down on the dishes that were standard on all previous occasions. No baked salmon, no potato bake, no cauliflower/broccoli gratin, no caesar salad, no bread & butter pudding. These are the only dishes that I noticed but there were probably more. Not only had they cut back on the assortment, they had also cut back on the quantities displayed. There was nobody carving the meat so was required to ask for assistance. There were no vegetables which was requested and needed to wait while they were being cooked. Others needed to ask for the apple crumble. But the final straw was that there was no custard, again needed to be requested. The kitchen assistant came out with a supermarket carton of cold custard and poured it into the container (which is normally contained with heated custard). I did speak to the manager Jackie expressing my disappointment as we were used to better. She immediately went on the defense advising me of the learners in the kitchen & the staff shortages, telling me this is what I would expect from supermarkets, chemists and the like, which is totally irrelevent but no apology. If I was being served in an A la' carte restaurant, yes of course I would be expected to wait, but on delivery of my meal I would expect everything that I ordered. This is a buffet, where one helps themselves, so one would expect the food to be there to serve yourself with. I can only put this down to a disorganised mess and another visit would be out of the question, and will be taking our custom elsewhere.

A budget room, nice and tidy but for $150 , I didn’t expect to see someone else’s leftover trip to the loo and a raised seat when I walked into the bathroom! Maybe a desperate cleaner…??
After a 10 hour drive I just wanted a nice steak and a quick beer, but for $25 I got a lukewarm porterhouse and stone cold chips, and a glass of the excellent Furphy ale that frankly tasted like it had been drawn through 1880’s cast iron plumbing.
Fair enough it’s a bit of a pokie palace but these days I reckon that’s completely unacceptable.
Maybe give this joint a miss.

I stayed at this motel because it was booked for a group of us attending a workshop in the Dandenong Ranges and was the base for us to commute to another location each day.
The motel itself is on a busy highway and separate from the hotel by carparks (around 100m apart as an estimate).
I arrived on a Sunday night by taxi and was dropped off in the dark nearby the check in office which I soon realised was unattended. The intercom to call someone didn't work either. Then I noticed a sign on the door saying that after hours check ins should be made via the gaming room of the hotel. I had to haul all of my luggage over to the gaming room/bar so not a good start.
Once in the bar, the bartender began checking me in. Meanwhile a drunken slob came and stood right next to me staring (it was fairly unnerving) as the bartender handed my room key announcing in a loud voice the room I was to be staying in. I asked if anyone could help with my bags and the answer was no. They also charged $100 to my credit card in case "I wrecked the room" whereas other hotels I have stayed at have placed an amount as pending, this motel took the money in addition to my room payment. One of my colleague's credit cards had a number of unauthorised transactions made totalling $4000 so the police got involved with that.
The motel: It did in fact seem like drug users frequented this place as another review states. A number of crimes have in fact occurred at this motel (we found out afterwards). It also appears that there are drongos and drug affected individuals living at the accommodation as a few were loitering around the carpark even at early hours in the morning. There was a domestic dispute late at night with yelling and banging on the upstairs door and the police were called around 3 times in the 2 nights I was staying there. Some of the international attendees of the workshop, left in fear that it was unsafe to stay at the motel before they'd even stayed one night. After 2 nights the remaining attendees also checked out and went to a more reputable hotel even though it was further away from our workshop. The woman at the reception desk in the daytime seemed indifferent about our concerns.
The rooms: One of the attendees' window was not secure. A man was hanging around her window. The bathrooms at the rear of each room back onto an open carpark near the hotel and it feels insecure. The beds were uneven and the pillows terrible. The carpet was stained. There was no water - not even to purchase. The beds had no mattress protectors, although towels seemed clean and white. The curtains gape so if lights are on at night time then anyone can see in. The overall feel is that you're not safe and secure. Sound is an issue. You can hear everything outside, next door and upstairs. None of us could sleep.
Do yourself a favour and stay elsewhere.

My God what a scary and filthy place that was. $90 and believe me you don`t want to leave your room for fear from the drug dealers and ice addicts. The bathroom stunk and still had human feaces (Poo) behind the toilet. The bar toilets were a little cleaner so we used them instead. The police turned up early in the morning to take away an ice addict who had just beaten the crap out of his wife (Also an addict) and beaten their two young children and smashed up their room. It would be safer to stay in a dark ally way in the center of Melbourne.
Even the beds smelled rotten and to my dismay, no mattress protectors to keep the mattress clean. I'm glad I didn't have a blue light. We asked for a partial refund in the morning from the main manager and was basically told to leave now or they would call the police. Why? I only wanted a partial refund. They were rude and didn't care at all. I suspect because they are used to dealing with drug addicts. We are in our 60`s and definitely do not fit the drug addict profile. Pancake pillows, bins not emptied and a fridge and tv that didn't work properly. Most probably the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel.

Ever watch that show "My Name is Earl" and see the trailer trash theme (comically portrayed)? Well, this place was kinda like that. A bit trashy, a bit dodgy. The staff to check in were helpful and friendly. But as soon as we walked into the room it smelled like a mix of stale man odor, and old ingrained cigarette smoke. The room was dirty!!! There were red glitter hearts on the floor, dust build-up everywhere, a big clump of pasty putty behind the bedside table which was full of dust balls collecting behind it. My friend and I hired the room which had a futon in it. When I pulled out the futon I saw more glitter hearts, and a tampon (unused thankfully) under the couch! As I settled down to try to go to sleep, the futon collapsed and I ended up with my legs in the air and the couch tilted off the floor! So my mate and I had to share the double bed which sagged a bit in the middle so we spent the whole night trying to not roll into one another sleeping in sleeping bags (chose not to hop under the covers). The bathroom was clean thankfully and the shower water was hot and consistent. Unfortunately the stale unclean room with cigarette burns in the carpet and old failing furniture really let this place down. We barely slept. I would recommend giving this place a mess unless you are desperate! Or unless you are after a hilarious after-story from staying at your hotel. I'm still laughing! If anyone reads this review and wants to go ahead with hiring a room... ask for Room 12 and check to see if the tampon is still under the couch!

I stayed in this hotel last weekend. I had a standard room. There was an adjoining door to the room next door. I just presumed this door would be permanently locked. However, at about 2200 that night, the guy staying in the room next to mine opened this adjoining door and walked into my room!! He was drunk, saw me mumbled something and then went back to his room. I was just sat on my bed watching the television. I then locked this adjoining door. But it seems you get keys to these adjoining doors so you can unlock them and visit the person next door is seems!!
This place is not safe! Don't bring your kids to stay there!

Where do I begin...
We found our room at #16 and the first thing we saw was that the windows looks like someones tried to break in with all the cuts in the wood. Definitely don't feel safe.
They've even placed a door knob on the door that doesn't even do anything because the key will unlock and open the door for you. Real classy..
The sheets on the bed is what caught our eyes when we walked in but I understand now that they suit this entire hotel: absolutely disgusting.
The TV is what you turn on almost every time you first step foot into a motel but we couldn't do that because there were no batteries. So okay, it wasn't hard to ask reception and get the batteries but once we did that we learn that there's no channel tuned. Woohoo. No time for that, we have our event to get ready for.
We travelled 3 hours that day from the Country so we were very hungry and walked a short distance to Safeway. Don't worry about finding anything to cook, microwave or toast because you wont be able to here!
Maybe the worst thing of all... we wake up this morning to find that the SMOKE DETECTOR DOESNT HAVE BATTERIES.
Enough said I think. I'm even writing this review before leaving the motel.
Will NOT be returning or recommending
