We stayed at Edenhouse for only one night on our big tour of the South Island, but what a treat. The hosts were welcoming. The cottage where we stayed was immaculate, with modern amenities and old world character. The meals were absolutely outstanding-- a true delight-- with a four course dinner of local produce, fish and other foods and a...

This was a truly outstanding experience. The property is stunning- situated in the beautiful Motueka river valley. I could wax lyrical about this for hours but the other reviewers have captured the essence of Edenhouse far better than I could hope to do. There is a reason why there are only 5 star reviews on Tripadvisor - it really is...

Simply put, Edenhouse is a hidden gem that embodies sophisticated relaxation. The Edenhouse experience is reminiscent of staying at a favorite, yet refined aunt and uncle's house. Bobbie and Peter, the owners, graciously welcome you into their home and quickly make it known that your happiness and well-being are of top priority. Without being overbearing in the slightest, Bobbie and...

My husband and I started our honeymoon in the Nelson area and stayed at this adorable place. Peter graciously met us at the airport. We had a car rental already set, so we followed Peter's car back to the hotel, which was incredibly helpful as we were unfamiliar with the area and had to drive on the left side of...

Very special small luxury lodge. Edenhouse is tucked away amongst beautiful gardens. Hosts Peter and Bobbie think of every detail. Evening drinks by the fire or in the garden, and delicious five star meals cooked by international chefs. I stayed in the Cottage, a peaceful , private spot just steps away from the main house. These few days were destroyed...

Dear T3G, Your very kind comments are greatly appreciated, thank you. Our lovely region is often referred to as "Sunny Nelson" so we too were very disappointed when the heaven's opened during your stay. We pride ourselves on providing guests with unique and special experiences so we do hope you will return in sunnier times to enjoy those activities in...

The owners enjoy looking after guests, are superb hosts, and great company. A really lovely visit to Eden House. The food cooked by the Dutch chef was absolutely excellent too, as were the local wines!

Arriving in a rainstorm after taking the ferry from Wellington to Picton we were advised to take the Wairau Valley Road to Edenhouse. Great advice, beautiful even in the rain. Greeted so graciously by Bobby. And then getting upgraded to the Cottage. We settled in the lovely and very comfortable cottage. Dinners and Breakfast couldn't have been any better. Peter...

Just a perfect experience with no exceptions. The location is stunning - the hosts perfect - very friendly efficient and quite welcoming. The food is right up there as some of the best we have had in NZ - reminded us a bit of Louis when he was at Timara Lodge. But Edenhouse had multiple chefs cooking and every dish...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled in a serene valley in the heart of rural Nelson, Edenhouse is an overdue reminder of the genuine meaning of luxury. This enchanting luxury lodge, set in fifty acres of private grounds and internationally acclaimed gardens has an enviable location - perfectly positioned between Nelson and The Abel Tasman National Park -- it's surrounded by the activities and experiences in which its guests delight. In the June 2016 edition of The Hideaway Report, Andrew Harper concluded of Edenhouse: "It is always a delight to discover a hideaway that I can unequivocally endorse. Edenhouse is a true gem" and "Hospitality just doesn't get any better than this". The Edenhouse "Harper Rating" of 97 out of 100 is the highest-equal among Mr. Harper's assessments of New Zealand's most exclusive and highly regarded luxury accommodation. Edenhouse is finished and furnished to a very high standard with an emphasis on comfort, relaxation, understated luxury, attention to detail, and fine food and wine. Edenhouse accepts only 6 guests thereby retaining the "small boutique lodge" experience. It comes as no surprise that two prestigious publications, Tatler and The Robb Report, included Edenhouse in their 100 Best Hotels of the World. ... more   less
