Detailed Reviews
An amazingly nice place to stay, nice staff and owners, very big and clean family rooms that Look like they have just been renovated. The room includes two single beds, one queen bed, kitchenette, four seeter table with chairs and a very nice bathroom. Pretty views from large windows out to a pretty field of green grass and flowers. The motel is also in a great location with shops over the road and 15/20 mins to lots of beaches! The motel also has a pool but was out of order as the big sign of parkside got crashed into! Thanks for the very nice stay we will be coming back again! 😀👍

This is a well located motel, good for those who enjoy recreational activities - there is a park, bowls club and tennis club next door. The shopping plaza across the road includes a Coles and KMart and a little further down there is a good shopping strip with cafes and restaurants. Whilst the exterior looks dowdy, the room itself was fantastic - very clean, large, and lovely views of the park. The room, including the bathroom, has been beautifully renovated. There is still some work that needs to be done - parts of the motel were closed off due to works (although there was no noise from any works during my stay). The room could have done with some more amenities, such as cutlery. Also, during my stay, the lift was out of order, so anybody with a mobility issue should check ahead.

Rooms comfortable. Signs everywhere, including the greeting at reception, notifying the risk of setting off the smoke alarm. The risk of fines and the inconvenience was strongly communicated. From close to midnight and for the next hour of our stay the fire alarm went off. First response was the owner telling us it was a false alarm. The next three alarms were 15 minutes apart and no response was provided from the owner. Not only was this totally disturbing throughout the night, the false alarms left us questioning if the alarm was faulty. No emergency services attended any of the alarms and truly, the question is, is the alarm linked to a base system. Due to the overkill of communication about setting off the smoke alarm, one would wonder if the gentleman/owner is fully aware the smoke alarm is faulty and possibly illegal.
The accommodation charges you extra by the hour if you attempt to check in early and then fire alarms disrupt your overnight stay. The rooms were comfortable enough, the continuous setting off of fire alarms produced a nervous nights stay.

Response from Parkside Reception, Owner at Parkside Motel Geelong
Responded 22 Jan 2024
Thank you for your review, how selfish of you, you question our property FOR SAFETY STANDARDS, We inform all guests, that we CARE, and do not tolerate SMOKING, VAPING OR COOKING IN ROOMS also advise guests of any noise. We are diligent in our CARE of guests. If alarms go off, our system highlights the room on question, these people where kicked out, due to cooking and vaping in room. Manager went thru each floor, each time informing False alarm, what more can we do ? Of cause we planned all of this, just to upset everyone. and make your stay unconformable. MAKE SURE NEXT TIME YOU STAY AT 3RD WORLD TOILETS, WHERE THEY JUST DONT CARE.

I came over and stayed for a work trip. I booked the Parkside Motel as it was only a 10 minute walk to work and the photos of the room online looked nice and clean. From the outside it was not overly appealing but the reception and room I stayed in was clean and tidy - what you would expect from a typical motel room.
The first night was fine but the second morning I woke up in the middle of the night to see that my door had been opened and the swing chain on the inside was stretched to capacity. I knew the door was properly locked before I went to bed and the doors are opened by an older style key so no accidental swipe card could have been used.
I went to check out the next morning as I felt uncomfortable staying there for the remainder of my trip (had 2 more nights). Lindy the Manager/owner instantly got defensive and rude and made me feel small for wanting to leave and said they would not offer a refund. There was no empathy or care for what happened, instead they were angry and somehow tried to put the blame on me.
I rung Wotif who we booked through to advise the situation to try and get our money back. They said that the money would be returned once the Motel had confirmed I had checked out and why (I told Wotif what happened). Wotif rung be back advising they could not return the money as Lindy had denied my reasoning for checking out - stating that I told them nothing and simply checked out.
It was a really horrible experience and would not recommend.

Disregard some of the reviews listed here. I stayed at the motel and found it an excellent experience and very good value. The room had been newly renovated, the bathroom was sparkling, fresh and clean. Overall the room was well appointed and had a bright contemporary feel. I had a second story room with a view and the outlook across the park and back to Geelong town and over the Belmont Common was very scenic and something different from many small kerbside motels in Australia. The Lift was welcome as I had a large suitcase. The hosts were very helpful and had English as first language skills. I would certainly choose the Parkside motel for another trip as it was above the norm of small Australian motels

Never go to this place. First, they charged us for an extra room that I only noticed by chequing my bank account. We found crayon and blood smeared over the walls. Then found blood on the sheets and doona and bottom sheet. The mattress was stained with yellow urine stains. The other bed we found black insects of some sort in the bed and also fecal matter on the sheets. When we called the manager up to the room to show him, all he did was yell at us and told the cleaner to change the sheet. Owners or managers whatever they are are very rude and the man is intimidating. None of them speaks hardly any English and had to talk via a phone call to another person to explain what was happening as they didn't understand us. He became very aggressive to my daughter and me. Throwing sheets and pillows in the air. Yelling at the top of his voice to the point the cleaning man came to see if we were ok. On speaking to his interpreter on the phone we demanded our money back and can you believe it he locked the bolts on the office door and told us we were banned from his motel?? As if we go back there anyway. That's not to mention the lift that is so old and scary it's like it will break down at any minute. This place is like a horror movie. As my stay there was because my partner is in Intensive care in the hospital, this is the last thing i needed. This place needs to be reported for health concerns expecially in these times .

Booked a family room with 4 friends to come and see a friend in Geelong. Room was ok, beds comfy but that was the only good thing. We were waiting in car park area at 8pm for an Uber and some people hopped out of a car that was checking in. We got to talking and laughing with them when all of a sudden the male owner came out and blasted us for being too noisy! We were in a car park and just talking and laughing but apparently this is not on.. We felt like we were being told off by a teacher in school. He was very aggressive and rude and we were all in shock at his behaviour. Upon check out he wasnt there but his wife was so when I told her that I was unhappy with what had happened she said sorry you were too noisy. I said it wasnt like it was midnight or we were in our room being noisy, we were in the outside car park and just laughing. She said it wasn't on and wont be tolerated in her motel. Not worth the $400 we paid at all especially when you get treated like a child. I have stayed in many places over the last 20 years or so and have never come across such rude and grumpy owners ever!! Look elsewhere...

Looking online this motel looked immaculate inside and out. Turning up, it was very run down, I was uneasy with the parking and leaving my car there and did not live up to its expectations. It was very deceiving and quite disappointing. We were not told that there was little to no ammenities, such as a toaster or cutlery. The rooms itself for great, very clean and looked newly renovated.
For the price we payed, we would not pay to stay here again unfortunately. Others staying at the motel had the same opinion and felt let down.

Stayed in a room with two double beds facing an unkempt car park, not gorgeous park as per photos. Motel is above a very dank parking area. Passive aggressive responses of owner/manager to poor reviews tells you everything you need to know. Beds OK, room clean if small, no curtains on window just heavy drapes so had to be kept closed for privacy. On a busy road although was quite quiet. Shower leaked. Would not stay again, would not recommend.

While the room was clean and tidy some of the essentials eg. Kettle, and cutlery and cups were limited.
Our kettle was extremely dirty inside and probably needed replacing. Bathroom basin and tap were loose but we reported that to managers.
