Lovely surroundings in the woodlands. Cute little cabins with comfy(ish for Asia) beds, good shower. Acmble to access the waterfall easily from the resort. Set on a fair hill, for some reason the owners put us in the furthest away cabin at the top of the hill, so we had a horrible climb to go to the waterfall, then the to the restaurant for dinner then again for breakfast. Very tiring. And there appeared to be others empty further down the hill! The wifi was broken because apparently a mouse chewed the wires, so we could only use wifi in the reception, whenever were in there we saw a rat, so I think that's the problem. Was very basic.

It is much better to be based on the Plateau Bolevan itself than in Pakse when you are in that part of Southern Laos. Pakse struck me as a dusty boring place. E–Tu Resort is in about 35 min drive from Pakse airport and is a perfect base to explore the wonders of the Plateau. The owner, Mr. Khambay, met us at the airport and from the very first minutes we felt as his special guests: he treated us with coffee and sweet rice cooked in bamboo on the way to the resort and gave a brief introduction about the Plateau.

Resort is located right next to E–Tu Waterfall (which gets its name from a buffalo who used to cross the waters nearby). The wooden terrace of the cottage opened right onto the rattling waters amidst abundant tropical trees so that one could rest on the bed listening to the sounds of nature. Big windows on three sides of the room added to the feeling of being in the middle of the jungles..... yet, in a comfortable room.

The cottage was quite basic but spacious and had all one needed, including hot shower and crispy bed linen. Everything is cleaned daily. The resort has a big well–maintained territory with blooming flower bushes and a steep staircase going right down to the waterfall. There is a restaurant on the ground as well – local girls are trying hard to treat you with the European–style breakfast in the morning (although the local food is much better per my taste). A big group of Chinese people singing Karaoke was a good entertainment at dinner time), but at night the place went completely quiet and peaceful, I've never seen such huge stars from side to side of endless sky...

The whole place feels very much a family place, and they treat you as a member of that family. The owner, Khambay (who spent the major part of his life in France and came back recently to contribute to the community) takes great care about the local people helping them as well as keeping the surroundings in order. He was kind enough to give a personal tour of the Plateau visiting three or four waterfalls – and of course, he knows everyone around, so there was a special treatment as well. The nature of the plateau is rich and the day of travel leaves you tired but happy. Overall, it was a very wise decision to spend 2 nights at the resort: just enough time for a quick tour.

Finally, here's the owner's email and the resort's web address as I had spent some time searching for it: etu35paksong@gmx.com; www.etu35paksong.com

Its a beautiful location. Isolated and far from the road so quiet and comfy.
The rooms are laid out beautifully and spacious, nice big bed and a waterfall that runs around the back of the rooms. They are designed like little cottages individually so you have your privacy.
A lot of trees around so bugs will be a bit of problem but nothing too bad.
The downside is location. Far of the road there is nowhere to walk to later in the evening, although its quite a romantic place.
The restaurant is a bit limited but the local dishes are fair enough and tasty.
Walk around the back and the air cools a bit with a lovely waterfall spraying water. I believe there is a way down there and swimming might be possible but I didnt have time to explore that possibility.
Staff are sweet and helpful but english might be an issue so if you are travelling with a local guide would be helpful.
Long stays might get boring so I would settle for a full day program and back to sleep here or just an overnight stay en route somewhere else. But its worth a stopover.

I stayed a night with my sister and a friend, loved every minute. Gorgeous private bungalows with balcony perfect for sundowner listening to the sound of the falls. Fantastic breakfasts included in cost. Dinner could be improved but was ok. Sat by fire outside chatting into the night. Great guided walk (2 plus hours) through coffee villages to nearby falls. Maybe the best part was the incredible service and generosity of the owner who picked us up from pakse at a small cost, insisting on treating us to local foods along the way. On day 2 he drove us through the region to visit villages and markets, showing us places we would never have found on our own, dropping us at champasak in the evening, all for a tiny cost that we tried to make up for with a big tip! Amazing, highly recommend.

The location is beautiful. You sleep right next to the waterfall, so there is always a relaxing background nature-music playing. You can even go swimming in several spots (not like the places in the bolaven plateau, where the waterfalls are too big or/and the water too far away from the accommodations)!
The bungalows are beautiful and new and look nice with their dark wood and white walls.
The staff end especially the owner is very nice.
Though he was pretty busy, he took us around in his car to show us the waterfalls in the neighborhood. He and his staff was always kind and very keen to let us have a good time.
Thank you very much, E-Tu!

Ban etu waterfall resort is simply wonderfull!
We stayed for 2 nights with our 3 children and loved every minute of it. We really enjoyed the hospitality of the staff and mr Khambay especially. We did a few hour trekking through coffee plantations, highland and the challenging but beautifull trail from tat fane to tat nyeung waterfall. Our guide , Ying, helped our youngest of 5 descending and climbing and thx to his help we were able to do the full trip. Our best day in Laos so far!
Thank you mr Khambay and staff!

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Ban E-Tu resort, the location is great, right by one of the famous Bolaven Plateau waterfalls and the villa we stayed in was spacious, clean, well furnished and had its own balcony. What really made the stay for us however was the hotel owner who could not have been more friendly, welcoming and helpful - collecting us from Pakse, taking us on a tour of the plateau, and going out of his way to help us in catching a bus to 4000 islands from Pakse the day we left. Would fully recommend this resort, would love to go back!

We have been on a six months trip when we arrived at Etu-Resort. First we wanted to stay for two nights only - but finally we stayed there much longer. We had a wonderful bungalow with a nice view on the water and a large private balcony - everthing is very quiet and really nice for relaxing and you can go for swimming in the waterfall directly at the resort! But there are a lot of other activities you can do - we did a beautiful trekking tour through the coffeeplantages and small villages to two fantastic waterfalls. We also had a nice day on the mekong by boat to champasak (and Vat Phou) and visited another day Tad Lo, another big waterfall.

But the most amazing thing for us was the owner and his great staff - they are all so lovely and friendly and cook very good! The owner took us to many places we otherwise had not found by our german guide, everywhere he showed us some delicious traditional Lao food and he was always helping us when needed.

We will always remember these fantastic days - thank you to you all!

Lovely, remote place where several well spaced cottages are all enjoying the pleasant sound of the beautiful waterfall. Truely enjoyed the welcome by the owner who took us along across the plateau, a trip that ended in a great dinner with random people, great food and wines! Cotages are very pleasant and all around you feel the owner just wants to have good life with pleasant people around. After his retiremennt putting an efoort to hire and train locals from poorly developed areas. Just go there, and you won't regret it!

Hello Mark and Sarah, It is quiet at night. We have a karaoke service in our retaurant area, however this wouldn't disturb residential area. For New years eve, we might have a little party for guests to enjoy last night of the year together:) We hope to have a chance to take care of you and your family. Best regards, Management team
