Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Oaks Port Stephens Pacific Blue Resort is often lauded for its excellent location, nestled close to shopping, beaches, and local attractions, making it a convenient choice for travelers. The pool stands out as a family favorite, adding to the resort's tropical vibe, though some guests feel the overall amenities could be enhanced. While the atmosphere is considered inviting with quality furnishings, opinions are mixed regarding value for money due to high costs.
Service is generally well-regarded, with commendations for the staff's friendliness, but there are occasional concerns about room and pool towel readiness. Cleanliness is upheld in most areas, yet some guests suggest a need for more thorough maintenance. Room conditions have raised some eyebrows, with calls for updates and improved soundproofing to enhance guest comfort.

Just an overnight in this resort staying in a budget room in a block adjacent to the large pool area, There is a spa and lap pool available to residents together with two excellent tennis courts with savanna surfacing. Some of the rooms and apartments are pricey but a simple room gives access to all the facilities and it was clean, spacious and fitted with a kitchenette to include a micro wave and full sized refrigerator. Sadly there are currently no restaurant facilities on the site or immediately adjacent.

The facility manage to accomodate my booking gone wrong with an extra cost but we’ll worth it. We got a three bedroom apartment with a garage, 3 bathrooms with showers and a private plunge pool to ourselves. The ginormous pool surrounding the facility is exceptional and kids friendly with heated whirlpools strategically located for everyone to share and enjoy! It also has a gym and steam room! The room service is amazing, clean towels daily as you wish! The kitchen is spotless with double door fridge freezer and good quality crockeries, pots and pans. Our apartment was missing a pan and clothes aired so I called reception and ask and I’m a few minutes it was delivered to our apartment! Excellent service! And a free wifi as a big bonus! It is also strategically located next to the shopping centre, shops, restaurants and other amenities! And a few minutes away to tourist destinations! If you’d ask me if I will book another holiday break at Oaks Pacific Blue Resort again? Absolutely!!

Paid $1392 for a 3 night stay which was crazy expensive for a room with a view of the car park and bins, also after paying so much money the resort expected us to take our own rubbish out and do our own dishes. We were not provided with additional bin bags or dishwashing liquid to do our dishes so we had to purchase these ourselves which was an additional unnecessary cost. The shelve in the shower was broken so couldn’t be used for soaps/shampoos because everything would slide off. The toilet was broken in terms of making a running water noise all day/night so at night time we would turn the toilet off just so it was quiet in the room - I raised this to staff on the first day and it was not fixed for the duration of our stay. If you don’t have your own car it would be a pretty inconvenient location. All round it’s definitely not worth the price and was very disappointing. We moved to a hostel after check out and the hostel private rooms were better then this 'resort'. The hostel actually emptied our bins and provided new towels and was less then a third of the price.
On a brighter note, the pool was amazing and the beds were super comfortable.
Wouldn't recommend staying here for the price you pay you could find somewhere much better

The huge lagoon pool is central to this popular resort but there are also two good tennis courts and a small gym with a heated lap pool and steam room so you can relax or be as active as you like. The one bedroom apartments are well equipped with full cooking facilities, washing machine, dryer and dishwasher as well as balconies overlooking the lagoon pool. Even the studio apartments on the ‘island’ have good size balconies and a bar fridge, kettle and toaster. It’s a shame the restaurant on site is not currently operating but the resort is walking distance to the Salamander Bay shopping centre so very handy for supplies, and some supermarkets will deliver to your door if you order ahead. A great place for families as well as couples or groups of friends. Our rooms were quite spacious and both had king beds that could be separated into single beds. Highly recommended.

My family has been coming to Oaks Pacific Blue almost every year for the past 11+ years. We truly enjoy the place & recommend the venue it to all our friends & colleagues.
The customer service we received was fantastic. I don’t specifically remember the ladies name, but if you are ever served by Carol or Carolyn you’re in for the VIP treatment as she was an absolute pleasure from check in to check out.
The resort itself is one of the best in Port Stephens. They have a very large wrap around pool, a small Steam Sauna, tennis courts & a lap pool. There is also a small gym, although I strongly recommend the Oaks refresh & add equipment as its severely lacking & could use a complete overhaul/refresh. The location is conveniently positioned next to a small mall so it is very handy to have when you need to grab some groceries & supplies.
Now for the bad:
During this recent vacation, I booked 3 x 2 bedroom apartments (I believe the apartment/house numbers were 360, 358 & possibly 364).
The apartment/houses were a bit old & outdated (the bathrooms were in serious need of a refresh, one of our toilets had holes in the walls & ceilings & there was an odd smell coming out of the bathroom on the ground floor). Definitely not what we're use to when we stay there
The main reason for the score & review is an unpleasant altercation with the owner of 359. The owner & her friend rudely banged loudly on our door at 10:15am on the day of our checkout demanding that we move one of our cars which was in her spot. As were in the middle of packing, my uncle (whose car was in her spot) asked if he could quickly finish up & he would load the car immediately & move it (at no time did he or I ever reject moving the car) The owner & her friend continued to demand & scream that it is moved instantly, slinging negative, prejudice & racial comments at us & eventually my mother & grandmother & threatening us that we would never be able to stay at Oaks again & that they were calling security & management – which we were happy to speak with them. By the time they arrived a couple of minutes later my uncle was– as promised – ready to move the car.
Unfortunately, this recent vacation have made us reconsider our annual trips to Oaks which is really disappointing as it’s become a stable holiday destination for us each year.
If you do happen to stay there – I would STRONGLY encourage all hotel guests that if you are put in or around 360 – asked to be moved RIGHT AWAY!

We stayed in 260B, an upstairs room on the 'island'. Some housekeeping needed on arrive i.e., a light globe replaced in a bedside table and phone handset cord replaced as the clip on the cord had broken and was therefore falling out of the phone. No bottle opener either, but they did drop in a can opener with a bottle opener on it. Also, no ice tray in freezer, no guests ice machine, and no ice at reception, so a trip to the servo for a bag of ice needed unless you BYO ice tray and wait around for it to freeze up. Our Luxury Escape package's bottle of wine in the room on arrival was missing, so needed to collect this reception. No housekeeping automatically included ($30 extra per day) requiring you to keep your room tidy and replenish towels, coffee, milk, TP etc from reception, speaking of which, despite the best efforts of the very cheery reception staff, had the most complex and time-consuming check-in procedure I have experienced. Fine if no others waiting to check in or get towels etc. otherwise the wait was quite irritating. Room was long and narrow and quite cramped, but the TV was newish and excellent and the décor modern and stylish. A sensible addition would be a fanlight above the bed, as it would save having to run the air con to get some breeze. Even a pedestal fan in a corner would do. One highlight was the excellent Laguna Blu resort restaurant open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A stylish place by the pool with great staff and excellent food.

The price we paid was high compared to the value we recieved.
Room was not serviced daily (had to procure additional shampoo, body wash etc), Bins not cleaned, Linens not changed
No bin in toilet
Balcony not clean
Only a single knife in kitchen and it was not sharp, no sharpener to improve it.
No dish drainer in kitchen sink
No vent/air duct in shower
Tapware felt flimsy and wobbly

Very disappointing and will not come back, we called the day before and the morning of asking for early check in and was informed someone will be giving us a call back but we never received a call and we found out upon arrival and check in at 3PM that our room had maintenance issues where hot water was not working so the only option was to take a studio room (a downgrade) for a "substantial refund". They did not mention or indicate amount but just said that it was substantial. After accepting and staying 1 night had to come back next day to see the manager in regards to the refund, was offered $200 and due to my shock expression then went back to the computer and gave another offer of $300. Wasted my time and I cant believe I had to stand there to negotiate the refund. We had no where to cook our food and was told that there was a community BBQ 10 minutes walk down the road so we had to cook what we could at the park and it was raining and windy so even under shelter we could feel the rain. The rest of the fresh food we had prepared had to be disposed of and not to mention we had to spend extra money to dine out. The restaurant was closed, the spa in the pool had maintenance issues and was not fully functioning and on top of that the steam room was not properly cleaned and maintained and had really bad odor coming from it. I paid $811 for the room so the refund does not make up for all the inconvenience we had to go through. Will definitely not be coming back, would not recommend this place for anyone! Service is shocking

+1
This hotel looks inviting and resort set up sounds appealing but in actual fact hotel is run down has no facilities or amenities and rooms filthy.
Upon check in we entered our room excited for a relaxing four night stay however were immediately dissapointed when the room was so dirty I had to go buy disinfectant wipes and clean the whole room myself. Cleanliness should be a priority especially given the current pandemic you want to feel like you are in clean surrounds.
We had a spa room however the spa didn’t work and had to be repaired several times
Finally asked to change rooms on the last day and it was much better a lot cleaner (still wiped it down myself) and spa worked however overall still run down and dated.
No restaurant, facilities closed due to covid which is understandable however we did think atleast the outdoor pool would be open following government restrictions being lifted
Staff pleasant and happy however would not return based on cleanliness alone

All facilities are included in price. tennis also. Massages I don't know though i doubt it.
There are stairs down to ground level and from there you can access the pool through many path ways between villas. Also take a short stroll to other easy access points. Very easy.
The 1st day we were the we got new towels. But after that no. The broucher said it was extra.
The pool, or lagoon as they've named it, goes all the way around the inner circuit of apartments. All in all I'd guess it to be about 200 metres all the way around. As previously answered, it's no more than waist deep anywhere and there are a couple of bridges to swim under. Hope this helps.
