We stayed for two nights at Pedrito Hostal at the beginning of our trip to Cuba. Alain and his wife are lovely, Alain speaks English very well and is most helpful. At the end of our trip we wanted to come back there, however they were booked and Alain went out of his way to find something else suitable for us. We really appreciated his effort. We had two delicious dinners there and the breakfasts were excellent. Their little daughter who is 3, is adorable and loves to play hide and seek with the guests. There is absolutely nothing I would find fault with in this casa. They are a lovely family, their home is clean, beds are super comfy, and I would highly recommend.

Alain and his wife made us feel at home from the first moment. Our room was large, had a private bath and a fridge, plenty of closet space and was super clean! We were traveling with friends from England who had booked this for us. There was a large common area with a mini library, rocking chairs and two tables with benches where we could eat our meals. And speaking of meals, we enjoyed a full breakfast with fresh fruit every morning for a modest cost. Also, we ate several lunches and dinners in our week there and they were tasty and well presented. The best day was Christmas Eve when we were invited to join the family for dinner -- and what a wonderful time we had with Alain's family -- two young children, his parents and even members of the next generation -- an amazing family feast, followed by a game of dominoes.A free taxi was provided for us once a day to get into Varadero and the returning fare was not expensive. Alain gave us good advice to help us enjoy our stay and even arranged transportation for us to the airport in Havana. I highly recommend Hostal Pedrito. It is well within anyone's budget.

We spent our Christmas break here with our Canadian friends on the pure recommendations of previous positive Tripadvisor reviews - and they weren’t wrong. Alain & his family plus Maryliss made us feel so welcome during our week long stay. We enjoyed eating their generous breakfast (only 4 Cuc per person) cooked by Alain’s wife/Maryliss. They also offer lunch/dinner - they have a very competitively priced menu & sure to appease even the most fussiest eaters. On several occasions, we also ate lunch & dinner here. Our room was cleaned every day, with fresh towels provided - we had a bit of a mosquito problem in our room, and Alain sorted it no problem! Christmas Eve, Alain & his family invited us to join their family (4 generations) celebrations which was much appreciated, had such fun playing dominoes! The roast pork & caramel flan was to die for! On our last day, I had an issue with a local shop, and Alain kindly helped me by coming along with me to return a mis-sold product, thus resolving what would have been an awkward & costly situation (I don’t speak Spanish). Hostal Pedrito is situated in Santa Marta, it’s about a 25 minute walk into Varadero. There is a free daily taxi service into Varadero which is a huge bonus. Just make sure you have muscle power to push the white Lada taxi should it conk out on you...🤪 All in all a superb & enjoyable stay at Hostal Pedrito & Alain can organise tours/airport transfer too via his old university friend Hamlet. I would have no hesitation recommending Hostal Pedrito & Hamlet for their helpful & kind assistance in making our first visit to Varadero memorable.

We stayed with this family for 6 days and I would recommend this place over a beach side place. The family are very helpful and welcoming They leave you alone if that’s what you want, chat if you want to and help and suggest.Alan has excellent English and 2 adorable lovely mannered children. The home is stunning, better than a 5*hotel,we had a massive room, bathroom, kitchen area,as well as seating outside which was so relaxing. Every day we used the bikes which weee safe great fun and added to our holiday, we cycled to many different parts of beaches, and found places we wouldn’t of done on foot In the evening we preferred the town of santa Marta finding it friendlier than valedro much better food and drinks This is why I would urge you to think about staying at this hotel or hostal rather than valedo itself as I can not imagine a better place to stay We will definitely return

We spent 4 nights in this incredible Hostal. Alan, el dueño, is amazing! He is very friendly, extremely accommodating and will give you good advice on what to do or where to go. This hostal is located in Santa Marta, so you can feel the real Cuba and still be minutes away from the beach and the touristy places. A great plus: he lends bikes (for free) for the day so you can wander around very easily. A must go!! And enjoy a good cold bear when you get back from your beach day :-) Thank you for everything, we will definitely come back if we can!! Florence and Candide
