Cockatoo Island is a magical spot - there is so much history from so many different and diverse eras dotted all around the place, and it's all so accessible. Staying there for a couple of nights, in one of the beautifully-restored Heritage Houses, was a wonderful way to celebrate both parents' 60th birthdays with the whole family. The house has...

Stayed in the houses on the island. Be warned that the island is the 2nd largest breading ground for seagulls. So there is a lot of noise from the gulls and they are very protective of the chicks. Although they dont seem to attack they are very intimidating and aggressive. We couldnt access the front entrance of our apartment as...

Thanks for your feedback tlw3456. Cockatoo Island is the largest island in the Sydney Harbour and seagulls have chosen the island as one of their many nesting areas. As a protected marine species under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act), our aim is to protect the seagulls in their habitat while ensuring they’re not disrupting visitors...

Thank you so much for making our stay and my mothers 80th birthday the most enjoyable family get together we have had for a long time. The heritage house was perfect with everything we needed and most spectacular view and comfy beds. We all enjoyed our time exploring the island and a hit of tennis and time out together. It...

I have just left Cockatoo Island after a stay in the Heritage 2 bedroom apartments. In my prior post I failed to mention how impressive all the staff were. The staff from the security guard near the ferry wharf, the staff at the Welcome Office- especially the gentleman who welcomed us with such a great sense of humour!! Gary our...

Stayed overnight at the Harbour View Apartment upstairs and it was really good. The view from the balcony with the water and Sydney was impressive. Apartment was recently renovated so all the modcons from the living room, bedroom, kitchen to bathroom was comfortable and clean. The place is really quiet and secluded at night so you will need to be...

We stayed in the Fire Station Studio apartment for 2 nights over the ANZAC weekend when the biennale was on. The apartment is comfortable and tastefully furnished and is well equipped. It feels a bit exposed as it is above the Visitors Centre and right at the entrance to the island but one way glass gives sufficient privacy. Spacious rooftop...

Our day started of on a Ferry from Rydalmere to Cockatoo Island - a very pleasant trip along the Parramatta River. On arrival at Cockatoo we had coffee while waiting for our tour guide to take us around the historical buildings on the Island. The tour was very informative of the Islands history & the views of the beautiful water...

We stayed overnight in the fire station studio, which is just above the visitors centre. The accommodation is very spacious with living and dining as well as a bedroom area. There is a nice bathroom and fully equipped kitchen. The outside deck complete with bbq was the perfect place to watch the sunset. We really enjoyed our stay and will...
