Only stayed on night but it was the best hotel that we have ever stayed in. I can't think of a single thing that I felt should be changed. The room was fantastic, even though we bring house shoes with us, I felt like I could walk barefoot and not feel dirty. The shower was great and think the hotel is on the right track to only have a shower. Tubs, I feel are outdated and who, now days, has the time to soak in the tub. Short and sweet, definitely will stay there again if traveling that way.

I liked the hotel since it looks new and in good shape. The lobby area is nice. The breakfast area has a sun room. Indoor pool and modern gym.
Rooms are clean and comfortable. Hotel is close to loud busy road, so ask for a quiet side room. Room has minifridge, microwave and Keurig coffee machine.
Breakfast was basic. Wifi worked well, plenty of free parking.

We arrived around midnight after getting a late start on our summer road trip. Our party consisted of my husband, two of our children (ages 11 & 16), and myself.
We were greeted with a smile and checked into our room promptly. I had booked a two-queen bed room for our family of four, and we were given the option to stay in a handicap-accessible room, which we gladly accepted. The room was very large, and the bathroom was huge! We had a sleeper sofa in addition to our two queen beds, so we were able to spread out a little bit.
Breakfast was your standard Holiday Inn Express spread. The sausage links were particularly hot and crisp!

We stayed here a few days before Christmas and really enjoyed the hotel. Nice and modern rooms. Mini fridge and microwave in room are a plus. Staff were friendly and courteous. Hand soap was empty at check in but quickly supplied when requested. Breakfast was decent , especially liked the pancake maker. Plenty of restaurants nearby.

We stayed one night. Staff was great…lobby was nice and clean.. our room was nice and clean. Pool was very cold I couldn’t stay in but a few minutes. Def would of been nice if there was a hot tub! Breakfast we good. Really like they offered large bottle of shampoo/conditioner/ body wash in the bathroom.

Staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Salem, Illinois was a thoroughly enjoyable and positive experience. Even though this was just an overnight stop on a long road trip, it was memorable because of the many ways that our expectations were exceeded.
The facility is attractively decorated, and thoroughly clean. Both the common areas and the guest room were excellent in every way.
The staff seemed to sincerely care about our comfort and happiness. We asked for a recommendation for a local (non-chain) place for dinner, and we were directed to a wonderful restaurant.
The breakfast service was great. Even though it was very similar to the buffet seen at other Holiday Inn Express locations, there were special touches that helped to distinguish it from the others.
We were not able to use the other common amenities (salt-water swimming pool, well equipped exercise room, or business center), but they were noticed ... and appreciated.
Thank you for going the extra mile for our happiness and comfort.

The hotel was a site for sore eyes as I drove over 900 miles and needed a good resting spot. I picked a good place as they were all very friendly here and FREE breakfast was an added pleasure. The breakfast was good and staff were very good at getting things for us. I will add this location to my GPS for future stops here. The only thing I would correct here is the desk staff need better training on their phone system as they cut off my wife at least 4 times and put her on hold for 4 minutes, until she just called back. My brother really liked the saltwater pool and it was perfect temperature to enjoy.

Friendly staff, updated room. Appreciated low threshold shower in our standard room as I have problem with one knee. Have free breakfast until 9:30 a.m. Eggs, biscuits and gravy, fruit, Oatmeal, yogurt, muffins, pancakes etc. Was a great value for us. Room was very clean too.

We have stayed here twice while traveling through the state. Perfect for our needs, clean room and bathroom, comfortable bed, well lit lot and choices for breakfast before we hit the road. Coffee, in the breakfast area, was strong and hot, which pushed this review to the top.

We stayed one night with my family. The lobby and room were fantastic and super clean. The breakfast was great (and included). We used the pool which was chilly but sufficed for an eager 12 year old. My only real complaint and why this property received a 4 star rating as the persistent smoking issue. It’s very clear that even though the rooms are non smoking, folks are smoking in the rooms.
