Two things mean a lot to me in a motel right behind safety - privacy and darkness when trying to sleep. The motel felt safe and quiet enough and the desk clerk was very pleasant upon check in. I have never been a fan of window style A/C units in motels, this one did cool it down, but smelled dusty, as if the filter needed changing. Hubby said it smelled like over heated wiring. Only a sheer curtain covered the window, okay during the day, not so much at night with a light on. Room darkening, heavy drapes were on the window sides, but were fastened in place. Useless to use for privacy and darkness. Made no sense. Checking out, the lobby had blueberry individual wrapped muffins, dry cereal and make your own waffles. I don't usually partake of in motel breakfasts anyway, but in a passing glance, seemed rather lackluster. I would stay again if need be, but would pack a pair of eye shades. It was nice to have a well lit parking lot, but that million watt light felt like a solar flare coming into the room.

Clean room. Bed clean and comfortable. Only thing it needs it a bigger toilet. It was kid size. Looks of the outside and the lobby it looks run down. but room was pretty nice. For the price I would stay again. Water was hot pressure washer ok....

When we pulled up to the Days Inn in Salem, IL we were shocked. We booked a room for four adults for $84 eight months in advance to see the solar eclipse. Most other hotels were sold out or charging $400-$2,000. Closer to the eclipse they raised their prices to $400. The exterior was kind of scary. The outside looked like a real dump. A place where the TV show Chicago PD would film! They rented U-Haul trucks out front. Most of the rooms looked empty. The curtains looked dirty and ripped. the windows were filthy. Our room was recently remodeled so it wasn't too bad. Room with two double beds was clean and quiet. You get what you pay for ($84). We had to go to the Days Inn lobby to get a key for breakfast. They had it set up in two rooms that they took down the center wall. Juice, coffee, apples, yogurt, toast, muffins, cereal, milk, oatmeal. No warm food. It looks like they are trying to fix the place up.

This is the worst motel I have stayed in since I was a poor college student over 40 years ago. To their credit, some rooms show signs of updates, but even our updated room had a significant problem: water dripping from the bathroom light fixture. That room was after our first room, which smelled like many years of old cigarette smoke, many minor holes in the walls, and a curtain liner full of holes from sun rot. I forget that some states allow smoking indoors!
The staff were friendly and were willing to move us from the first room, but this hotel was not worth the "normal" price, much less the "eclipse" price.
I am giving two "stars" because the heat, hot water, TV, and Internet worked and the bed was adequate.

Good price for a place to lay your head. DRoom smelled very clean. It could use some better cleaning around the headboard on the floor but it wasn't a big deal. Nice hot shower. Very friendly staff. This is my second time here and will probably be my go to when I stay in Salem Illinois.

This was a stopover and made reservation on line. The building’s exterior and interior need updating. Our room and bed were clean. They only supply a small shampoo and a small bar of soap in the room. Breakfast has nothing to be desired.

I’m curious to see if I’ve been charged for my stay. The front desk lady was very nice upon check in. We got to our non smoking room to be overwhelmed by the mix of cigarettes and marijuana. We decided to turn the ac on and open the door to air it out, that seemed to help a little. The shades appear to have been enjoyed by moths and the flooring had seen better days. We were hesitant to carry our stuff in, but did. I told my kiddo it was no worse than tent camping, trying to be positive!! We ended up packing our stuff and leaving when 3 roaches made it known they had already reserved the room. I don’t mind bugs when I’m paying to tent camp but they shouldn’t be in the motel room. I called the front desk to request a refund and check out but the phone only rang. I walked down to address it in person and there was a sign stating there was no attendant. Sooo, I changed the reservation on my phone hoping it updated and we went to the Holiday Inn!

I had driven almost 1,000 miles from Florida and was ready to get off the road for a quick night's sleep. I got this dump on Priceline without it telling me the name of the motel. It is hard to go off a cumulative rating score since so many of the reviews are fake.
Believe you me, if anyone had much good to say about this place in their review, you know for certain it is a fake.
Judging by the look of the lobby I knew I was in for a real "treat". The lobby looks untouched...and uncleaned from the 70's...early 70's.
I got to my room and it smelled like people had been chain smoking in there day after day and night after night for decades. In looking at the other real reviews and the overall look of the place I was betting all the rooms smelled like this.
The bed wasn't comfortable and if I didn't have a CPAP machine that needs to be plugged in I would have just gone out and slept in my car. I was lucky I was exhausted and was able to get a few hours shut eye.
This flop house is beyond saving. Tear it down and start over!

Arrived here on night one only to have to switch rooms immediately because I found cockroaches. Had no problems with room two until I woke up and found a couple of bed bugs and to find that I had received a few bites. Brought a bed bug down to the front desk in a cup and asked to switch rooms and was told no rooms available. Went back to my room and came down about an hour later to ask the worker on the new shift to switch rooms and she switched me to a new room of a different layout which I was completely fine with. Had no problems until the next morning when I woke up to find a large cockroach.
