Stopped off here after completing around 13 miles of the 22 mile trek we planned which took in all of the Ullswater Way and a little more besides. Was a very pleasant relief to find such a surprisingly fantastic tea room where we quickly demolished a number of sandwiches and cakes before burning off this calories on the remains 9...

The coffee shop at the rear of the hotel only opened this summer. The hotel always has a good reputation for afternoon teas but the Coffee Shop must excel. The venue is spotless. fresh and inviting, the staff and welcoming and friendly and the food is delicious. Freshly made sandwiches to order, and fantastic home made cakes and scones. Made...

Tea and an amazing homemade scone (thankyou tearoom staff!) in the garden today it was just what I needed ! Well worth the drive.... This is a beautiful gem of a hotel, big shoutout to the barman (from Sunderland) for his great 5 star attitude and service. I'll be returning soon !

I had the tea room recommended to me before we'd even set off for our Lake District holiday at nearby Pooley Bridge. On the afternoon we visited there were a few other people in the place but it wasn't so crowded that you were searching for a place to sit. My Mrs had the mushroom soup and warm bread rolls...

We came to dinner - or rather for the dinner. When the Sharrow Bay chef defects here you know you are in for a treat. This place is a Cumbrian institution, its a quaint old timer providing an experience of yesteryear that cannot be replicated. It may be perturbing to the casual visitor that the menus have no prices for...

This hotel is amazing. It's gorgeous, the drawing rooms, the grounds, and the guest rooms. I had to pinch myself to make sure it was real as it is so luxurious. The staff are very accommodating as well. Our room was beautiful with a large bathroom with a bath tub. All of the drawing rooms are impeccably decorated in a...

We first visited 30 years ago, and the quaintness is just as much in tact. No wifi, no internet, no TV's in the room, just good food (really excellent dinner) and drinks in an amazing setting. Dinner is served when the gong goes, and not before.Dinner will be from a choice of three dishes, which included Venison, ox cheek or...

We visit this hotel every year when we compete at the Lowther Carriage Driving competition and have always loved the whole experience. However, we went again this weekend and it was even better. The same atmosphere and values, the same great service, but the food had taken a step up. It was always lovely, but now it's amazing. If you...

Enjoyed a walk from Pooley Bridge to Howtown. On arrival it was raining so stopped here for lunch. Good selection of sandwiches and a lovely carrot and orange soup. Lovely selection of cakes also. Would recommend.

We stopped here hoping for a reasonable lunch following a trip on the steamer and in readiness for a walk back to Glenridding. Whilst the location is great and the new tea room very smart if a bit dark we found the choice of food very limited and most definitely over-priced. The staff were cheery and helpful but the food...
