We needed a short break away from the hustle and bustle of Kolkata. Babli was the most peaceful choice. It was an easy trip to Bolpur and within half an hour, we were in a different calm and simpler world. EVERY staff member was fantastic.

Good and relaxing environment, far from the hustle of city life. huts are good and made of Bengoli style. Choose rooms depending on group visit or couple visit. The owner and care taker of the guest house is very polite and helpful person and having good knowledge about snakes and sculptures. For food either dinner lunch or breakfast, inform them...

We were a group of 7 friends who wanted to spend 2 nights away from kolkata at a place within few hrs drive from here. Finally we selected BABLI and here's my views: Pros ------ We opted for the mud houses which can accommodate 4 people. It has a duplex where one needs to climb up for his/her own place...

We have stayed with B.A.B.L.I. and her wilderness many times, discovering new sights, sounds and smells with every visit. The rooms with their tenderness of design, Sahadev-da's dining room antics filled with love and a wee bit of madness....keep us fresh and alive in every visit; we start making plans for the next trip even while we are there.

I was taken aback that such a nice place was hiding from our eyes for so long. This place is just 15-20 mins drive from Bolpur Railway Station towards Ilambazar, at Birbhum district. The exact name of the village is Dwarindha. The moment we are in the resort, we were welcomed by some unique design of the accommodation huts. We...

We are follower, dreamer, friends and part of Babli community ... Babli (as they say) is not a resort, not a paid holiday home/hotel, not a space where you get all inclusive (paid) service. It's a rather community living experience with spartan basic (but very very clean) facilities. Babli is the best place for people who appreciate organic, natural, no...

This is a quiet guest house (more like homestay) inside a farm, with lots of greenery and peaceful farm life all around you. This is located on the Ilambazar Bolpur stretch, on the borders of Choupahari Forest. It's about 15 minutes drive from Shantiniketan. Visit this place if you - 1. Want to visit Shantiniketan, but want to be away...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
B A S A, or "BABLI SHANTI ALAYA", is the Guest-House within B.A.B.L.I [Bureau for Agro-Based/ Linked Industries].BABLI is a rural-action project in interior Birbhum, near Shantiniketan (13 Kms), under the jurisdiction of Illambazar Police Station, in West Bengal, India. We also have a GUEST-HOUSE - where like-minded people, who want to spend a few days in a rural setting, away from the din of city life, can rent cottages of various types and tariffs. However, we are NOT a 'resort'/'eco-tourism centre' - the whole project is LITERALLY wild and UN-MANICURED. At the project, we explore various unconventional farming methods, aimed at rejuvenating the agriculture of the region and countering the process of rapid urbanisation by trying to support the rural culture and livelihood. Our work also aims at rejuvenating the fast-depleting forest cover of the adjoining areas, and conserving the threatened flora and fauna of the region. ... more   less
