The family hired two rooms for two nights at this hotel and if in the area would do so again. The two rooms were clean and comfortable and both had a small kitchenette offering an area for which you could self cater , with plenty of tea , coffee etc plus a small selection for mini bar purchase. my daughter...

On a six week holiday to New Zealand and this was our first stay after a 13 hour flight from Vancouver to Auckland. We wanted a quiet place for a couple of days to get our bearings and learn how to drive on the wrong side of the road. Great stay in 1875 restored quaint hotel. Room was excellent, air...

Stayed in a 1 bedroom unit for 1 night. Lovely young lady at reception opened up and showed my husband through the unit. Room was beautifully clean and well presented. 1 dodgy chair that had been repaired. Lovely big bathroom with everything you need. Nice bonus of a coffee capsule machine with 4 free capsules. Small mini bar available with...

Tuakau Hotel has been beautifully restored and rooms are comfortable if not rather small. The real issue is with the food and beverage service. Apparently the bar and restaurant are no longer part of the Hotel. The Hotel in-room compendium states room service breakfast but it is not available, you have to walk down the street to a local cafe....

Unfortunately, I had booked accommodation elsewhere prior to arriving in Tuakau, which was a pity after reading the hotel's reviews by other TA writers. However, I did have an evening meal at Elsie's Restaurant, and was agreeably surprised with my main, Guinness Pie, and of course a pint to go with it. It was the best and most genuine Guinness...

After landing at Auckland Airport we chose to spend the first night of a touring holiday in Tuakau about 40 minutes drive south of the airport. Tuakau is a small town and the local pub in the main street has been beautifully restored. We were lucky to score the only 'queen room' in the hotel which had its own ensuite....

The hotel room was very well equipped and comfortable. The town is quite small but has enough fast food outlets and food shops for a one night stay. The Hotel restaurant is in a bar that has a gambling section and not many dining tables. However the food and service was good.

A lovely setting, looks like a substantial renovation has taken place, ample places to sit, fantastic service, super friendly and a real pleasure. Meal was tasty, a large serving and more than I could eat, would definitely return when in the area.
