Stayed at the Le Meridien Chicago Oakbrook for one night when in town for a family gathering. This hotel is located in a shopping mall, so while surrounded by business the rooms are relatively quiet. Easy access to the 85 highway, but you don’t hear it. The room was simple but clean and functional. High-quality touches abounded, including an ILLY coffee machine and Malin&Goetz products. The bed was firm but comfortable and the room was well-sized for 2 people. Would recommend!

The staff & property is outstanding. There are a few design flaws. Beginning with hotel arrival. The entrance isn’t clearly marked but perhaps that’s to keep it private. But this makes it a bit difficult for Uber to find it.
You must be a guest to access any other floor besides the lobby. Loved that.
On rooms, we arrived early & booked a king. The front desk had a room available and informed us that it was next to the stairs and had a small bathroom, room size was normal.
Inside the bathroom there was a sink and minimal counter space to the right and there was approximately 1 & 1/2 foot space between the wall that was unused. Missed opportunity for wider vanity area. Management gave a good effort to correct the bathroom issue but they didn’t have another king. So we weee fine staying in our room.
All the food we ate was really good. From room service breakfast from El Tapeo to longitude 87. The club sandwich with sweet potato fries were really good. The bar in El Tapeo has good views and great craft drinks. Will definitely stay again.

My husband and I chose this hotel for New Year's Eve. We only live an hour away but wanted a little upscale, city atmosphere close to home. At dusk, our lamp was partially unplugged, which we didn't realize. Someone came immediately to "fix" it. The fitness center was a pleasant surprise: towels, water and basic earbuds for the elliptical machines' audio, everything clean and in working order and a fantastic view of the mall. We nixed room service because of the delivery fee and no table in our room. Dining in the outdoor tent blew us away (no pun). There was adequate heat, great company and excellent food! Tim in the kitchen prepared me a special side versus entre salad and grilled my salmon to perfection. My husband's burger was one of the best he ever tasted (and he's particular). Other people also commented about the quality of the cheese curds and burgers. Our sleep was sound, even though the hotel was busy that night. For a Covid break under tough restrictions for dining, we couldn't have made a better choice.

Janalist12, thank you so much for your incredibly nice review! Tim will be thrilled to see it! The culinary team knocks their brains out in the kitchen and rarely called out by name in a review. We really appreciate your kind works, for spending the New Year with us, and especially for contributing to the wages of our dedicated staff in these most unusual times. Happy New Year!

We stayed at this hotel as it was close to RUSH for an early morning surgery. This is by no means a 4 star hotel. Maybe with COVID protocols it is a 3 star, but very underwhelming. The room was tiny, dated and the furniture looked like it was straight out from IKEA. The bathroom was a complete joke, a small vanity/sink area outside and then a bathtub/shower combo in the main bath. For these prices you should not have to live with a dingy shower curtain and crusty shower. Also, very poor lighting. No overhead lights and the light between the bed was broken, only one side worked. The desk lamp was there, but didn’t provide much light. Not sure how someone might actually work from this room as it was if you were hibernating in a cave. Also, all through the night sirens are going off and you hear them as the hospital is right down the street.

This at best is a Courtyard or Fairfield Inn. Not worth the Le Meridian prices as it is not a luxury hotel at all! Go to the Drake or Marriott down the street for a better experience. Very disappointed.

Thin walls, can hear full conversations thru the walls, tv and hotel activities. WiFi was beyond miserable so slow nothing loaded. The first room smelt like someone was smoking in it yet housekeeping did not tell management about it until i complained about it and got another room. Besides the pelotons, the fitness room had very old machines. It still had the old 30 pin iPhone connector.

The staff was very friendly and the hotel was very clean. The housekeeping cleaned the room well as well.

Overall was not impressed by the so called premium hotel will stay at doubletree instead. A much better hotel

I stayed here for a work event. The lobby is very nice and modern. Check in was easy and I got a room earlier than I expected.

My initial room was small and cramped which was surprising since it’s a Le Meridien. You expect something normal in size and good quality when staying at this brand.

The front desk was kind and offered to switch me to another room which was better. The rooms are clean and comfortable - except in one aspect. You can’t control the temperature. In the winter they only have heat and summer air conditioning. So it’s feast or famine. That’s a big shocker as even lower grade hotels I’ve stayed at had modern climate controls.

The room is very hot and there is no way to get fresh air which did not help with my sleep. A manger was very apologetic and brought up a fan which cooled it down slightly.

Overall an okay stay which was greatly helped by the staff.

I picked this hotel because of its proximity to my work meetings and close proximity to activities. There is a mall, movie theater, and steakhouse/restaurants within a 5 minute walk. The hotel has free complimentary parking, which is directly outside of the hotel so I wouldn’t recommend valet for $18/night. Pros of the hotel include,

1) 3 Peloton Bikes in the Gym
2) Medium sized gym with newish equipment
3) Club Lounge has free waters/snacks available and different restaurants in the hotel have happy hour
4) Decent sized and updated rooms

The one downside is definitely the elevators. I’ve stayed in several hotels where you have to tap your keycard to gain access to your floor but at this hotel you have to tap and hold for 5+ seconds. In my one night at the hotel I saw several people miss their floors simply because it took forever to get their key/floor recognized. My tip is to hold the door open until you’re recognized.

Our family was unfortunately forced to visit Oak Brook the week of Christmas due to a family emergency and stay at Le Meridien, and I can't say enough good things about the service. Anne and Katie at the front desk were incredibly helpful as we kept unexpectedly extending our stay and changing the rooms we needed. Anne in particular worked with us to handle last-second changes, minimize room changes, and provide us with the best possible rooms to accommodate a changing cast of characters. Hotel is clean, restaurant is good, workout facility (with Peloton) was a godsend, and the teenagers could walk to the shopping center and movie theatre. The Le Meridien staff really helped us make the best out of a Christmas that could have been disastrous.

This year for my birthday I would be working so I decided to do a "staycation." I am pretty surprised at my experience. I gave them 3 stars for 2 reasons: The Location and the Staff. Stephanie, Larry, and Anna were awesome! The lady taking breakfast orders wasn't very nice but I'll chalk that up to a bad day. Nevertheless, I was so excited to stay at this hotel and it was truly underwhelming. I booked the King Executive Suite for myself and the Standard King for my mother. In fact, I extended my stay before we even got there...bad idea. I was in 326 and she was in 318 and both of our rooms were extremely loud each night (3 nights). The walls were so thin, that I could hear every time a shower or bathtub was running and when it turned off. The air conditioner was also EXTREMELY loud ALL DAY. It was loud enough to jolt me out of my sleep a few times. This was definitely not the relaxing week I had hoped for. I called the front desk after my first night and she offered to send an engineer to me and my mom's room. It was a nice gesture but there was really nothing he could do. There were outlets in our room that didn't work. There is no pool or hot tub. The sofas in the rooms as well as throughout the hotel were extremely low and uncomfortable. I paid $500+ for my Suite (not including what I paid for my mother's room) and the value simply wasn't there. I've stayed everywhere from the Hampton Inn to the Ritz-Carlton and this doesn't compare to either. I fell in love with the location and will be back but I will NOT be booking this hotel again. I informed the front desk of my experience and the clerk gave me 5k points (which I appreciate.) but there really was nothing that could make it better for me. I want to reiterate that (with the exception of the lady from Longitude 87) the staff was excellent from the front desk to the engineer to the people who brought us extra towels.

Decided to splurge a little on a Marriott property. Le Meridien is supposed to be an upscale brand. What a mistake. As I was checking in, the desk clerk informed me that there would be no housekeeping during our 2 night stay. Too late to find another place. Really? No housekeeping, not even on request? Was offered a whopping 2000 Marriott points to compensate. Average room in Omaha is 20,000 points. Not sure how 2000 points makes up for this bait and switch. I would have chosen another place. I really like coming back to a tidied up room. Boy was I disappointed. I get labor shortage, but not cool to short change your customers because you can't manage your housekeeping staff. Still had to pay full price.

Husband went to get a coffee from bar in lobby. $6 for a 20 oz cup!!!! Went to Dunkin instead and got two for $6. Nothing special about lobby bar coffee, just coffee.

Will not be wasting my time or money on Le Meridien again.

They have absolutely NO pool. Not only that, but they were not helpful in finding one for us. Please do not stay there. There are a lot of better options. Staying in downtown Chicago is the best option unless you have a specific reason to be in Oakbrook.
