For staff friendliness, this hotel gets a 5. The Homestead also gets a 5 for its cuteness...but that's really not what I'm looking for in a hotel. Renovation is needed. We had a tired, tiny bedroom and bath that reminded me of an old New York apartment (NOT a compliment). We also had a full modern kitchen. But we didn't...

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience on Tripadvisor. We appreciate you mentioning our 5-star team…they truly are exceptional! Regarding renovation, The Homestead is constantly undergoing upgrades. Carpet and art replacements, completely remodeled kitchens in our suites, and a new look in the lobby, including club chairs and new carpet, are just a few of the most recent...

The staff are friendly and I found free street parking right in front each night (though they also have a garage not far away). It's age is apparent so don't expect the feel of a "modern" hotel in terms of room size and furnishings. It does have a certain charm to it and taking a nice hot bath one evening...

Thanks for taking the time to write a review on Tripadvisor. We are a timeless hotel, and we believe it to be one of the the greatest things about us. What a modern hotel lacks in charm, character, and history, we exude an abundance of. As a registered historic property, we’re proud to maintain the integrity of the property design...

Overnight stay with sister. Charm galore in this 1927 Inn. Free parking around the block in a parking garage with validated ticket. Check in staff welcoming and helpful. Used back entrance to move luggage on a rack up elevator. Behind the scenes staff helpful and friendly. What a great experience and enjoyable overnight. Room, bathroom and bed linens clean and...

go a long way. I'm a repeat guest and I can say without a doubt that you will not get better service anywhere - the location is perfect for Evanston, walking distance to Lake Michigan, the Northwestern Campus and public transit. The Continental Breakfast never changes but the coffee is good, and Q2 and Quince where breakfast is served are...

Need I say more? We booked this hotel because we visit Evanston often and had driven past it many times and it seemed genteel and quiet, with its pleasant porch in front in a lovely mature neighborhood. It was quiet, but I think genteel didn't enter into the equation. The room's door barely opened past the first twin bed, and...

Before 5am, a man began banging loudly on the next door, we asked him to stop repeatedly, and he kept returning. So, we called hotel management. It took more than 15 minutes for a manager to come upstairs and get the intruder to leave, as the front desk is not manned at night. About an hour later another man began...

This is a quaint property in a lovely neighborhood, just a couple of blocks from Lake Michigan, a few blocks from Northwestern University, and a few blocks from downtown. The location is really quite perfect. The property itself is historic with front-porch swings and well-maintained grounds. The rooms are a bit small but within the average range for a large...

I do like this hotel. It is an older building which I find pretty charming, with a very nice porch to sit and watch the rain. The rooms are old and a little tired, so is the bathroom. This is no luxury hotel, but then I didn’t pay luxury prices!!! The staff makes up for the hotel’s shortcomings. They are...

Stayed here on one of our many trips to Evanston and thought we would try something different. That was a mistake. The hotel was like entering into a retirement home. Old, smelled, and not at all "boutique". Stayed as short as possible and then left, definitely not returning.

I stayed here for 2 nights early September in a one bedroom apartment. It was very old and not clean: the refrigerator had a horrible amount of dust and dirt on the top, and the lamp shades had large yellow stains on them! Next to the queen size bed there was a upholstered chair that was severely sun stained and...
