LondonHouse Chicago, Curio Collection by Hilton garners praise for its cleanliness, with guests particularly impressed by the pristine rooms and diligent housekeeping. The hotel's amenities, including its comfortable rooms and rooftop with exceptional views, are frequently lauded, although there are occasional service hiccups. The stylish atmosphere and central location near Chicago's attractions are repeatedly commended. While many find the hotel to offer good value, some caution about high costs and extra charges. The service is generally celebrated for its professionalism, though experiences can vary.

This is a relatively new, modern hotel carved from a landmark building ideally situated at the bend in the river, affording spectacular views -- particularly from the rooftop bar. Staff is cordial and professional, rooms are clean and comfortable; furnishings and amenities are above average.

The lounge adjacent to the registration desk is comfortable and had live music on the evening of our visit. Breakfast in the adjacent restaurant (the breakfast package is simply a $20 voucher) was quite good with a varied menu. The rooftop bar is a popular destination and absolutely worth a visit for the view of the river below.

In our experience the Curio properties are fashioned from old existing structures with some history, with varying success. This is among the better conversions we've seen.

Some very minor hiccups easy to overlook, but then there is the elephant in the room. Our 18th floor view was desecrated by the enormous illuminated "TRUMP" sign directly opposite. Surely beyond the control of management, and yet, for $400 after fees, taxes and add-ons, I couldn't avoid the name of the rapist and convicted felon just out the window. I am sad to say that this will keep me from returning.

This is a very nice hotel with upper floor sweeping views of the Chicago River and adjoining towers. We arrived around 1:30 PM. Our booked room was not yet ready but the front desk immediately transferred us to a 14th floor room with that birds eye view of downtown Chicago. The room includes a dorm-style fridge (but no microwave). The hotel is pristine, the room is very well appointed along with comfortable pillows and bedding. There is a rooftop bar on the 21st floor -- we stopped there just to take in more views. Even though it was mid-January, the rooftop still had a large "nutcracker" throne for picture taking along with a large bob-tail sled. There are also enclosed plastic "igloos". There is no indoor pool, but there is a spa and fitness center (which we did not visit). A reasonably priced and tasty breakfast is available without leaving the building at The Corner Bakery. The location is mere steps from Michigan Ave. Overnight valet parking is pricey -- $76 per night. We took the stress-free train from O'Hare. The closest rail stop is about a ten minute walk from the hotel.

I live in Chicago, but frequently stay downtown for various multi-day meetings and LondonHouse is always my preferred choice. The check in experience is very easy, the bar in the lobby is a lovely place to stop and hang out with friends, and the room quality for the price cannot be beat in Chicago.

As a Hilton Honors Member, I love walking into my room to see a personalized welcome message greeting me on the TV, it's a nice touch. The beds are very comfy, with plenty of pillows, and the I always look forward to the wonderfully scented lotion, body wash, and other toiletries that are provided. I have never once had an issue with cleanliness, noise levels, etc., which is more than I can say for a lot of places, and the reliability keeps me coming back.

The staff is fantastic and attentive, without being overbearing. As a millennial, I love that I can just provide the hotel with my number and the staff will text me to see how I'm doing so I can avoid unnecessary human interaction 😂😉 Anthony, Matthew, Andrea, and the rest of the team are all excellent and just incredibly helpful - whatever you guys are paying them, it's not enough!

Checkout could not be easier, you just walk down to the lobby, drop your key cards in a box, and walk right out - if only every other hotel worked the same. Overall, I cannot recommend LondonHouse enough, I always enjoy my stay here and consider it my home away from home...if it makes sense to have one of those less than half an hour from where you reside LOL.

10/10, would recommend, the only thing that would make it better is seeing Paris herself when I walk in.

Pros
+ Good location at corner of Michigan Ave and the Chicago River, which is convenient for the loop and select attractions
+ Nice restaurant options (both the casual and steak/seafood restaurant in the building have great food choices and taste)
+ Great river views from many rooms and also the rooftop bar (but it gets crowded); the indoor bar in the lobby still has reasonably good views while not dealing with crowds or the heating/humidity (if it's a hot day outside)

Cons
- Noise; the windows don't have the best sound proofing, so traffic noise outside is noticeable, particularly for light sleepers
- The wood on the desk in the room had been polished or sealed, which left black marks on my hands and dress shirt from working at the desk in the morning (I expect the hotel has used this same polish/sealant on desks in other rooms, but some guests might brush against it and not realize where the black marks/stain came from, so if you stay at this hotel, I suggest to be careful around the dark wood furniture)*

* This was extremely frustrating to deal with on a work trip where I'm preparing for meetings and then have to sort having housekeeping come to the room to clean the desk and have my shirt cleaned, where black marks remained on the sleeves. Hotel offered to pay for a replacement shirt but I had to spend time finding an equivalent shirt online and email details, plus follow-up a few times; hotel initially offered to pay me cash for the shirt (but then wanted to switch to points or discount my room by an equivalent amount... Those options weren't that appealing as I have a lot of points already and work is paying for my room but I have to buy a new shirt myself so a discounted room rate doesn't help me). And then at checkout I was told the amount would be half because I hadn't given the hotel the shirt (the hotel previously never asked for the shirt and I had only kept it to help ensure I get the same one or as close to it as possible), so I then opened my suitcase in the lobby to get the shirt so I could have the full amount (this was awkward and somewhat embarrassing as my friend is waiting in a car outside to take me to the airport, but I just wanted to get going). My major issue here is that the hotel caused the issue in the first place, which was due to poor maintenance and cleaning (I have never encountered a similar issue at any other hotel and I spend a few months each year in hotels) and then I had to deal with the aftermath with extra time and effort just to cover the cost of something ruined due to the hotel, but with a process that made me feel as if they were doing me a favor. The manager never came to the room and the treatment I received for an issue caused by the hotel was below the standards I would have expected.

I've stayed at this property several times but not sure I'll stay again. Fortunately there are lots of great hotels in Chicago.

We were at the London house from March 14-17 for the dyeing of the river for St.Patrick's day. The view from this hotel is perfect. We planned to watch the dying of the river from our room with family that lived in Chicago. The service at this hotel is awful. We called room service to ask if they could bring up a champagne bucket filled with ice when they picked up the breakfast room service dishes from our room. They said they would. We sat the dishes outside the hallway as instructed, but never received the ice bucket full of ice. After about a hour and a half wait, we called again. They had picked up the room service dishes, but never brought up the champagne bucket of ice. When we called again, They just flat out refused to do it because they were too busy. We have never stayed in a hotel that refused service to their guest. This is just on example of the bad service we received. After paying almost $800 a night to stay in a room and being refuse a simple service, I would never stay at this hotel again.

On the whole, the LondonHouse is a spectacular hotel. I think for location and view from rooms (if you have a river view room) I don’t think you could get better for a stay in Chicago. Everything is within walking distance or at the very least using the L across the city and there are stations a 5 minute walk from hotel. The staff were friendly and easy to speak to in advance through the Hilton app and would respond in a timely manner. If you want an amazing view, any room on a floor from 13 to 18 is probably the best. My room was the 17th floor and room 10 (1710) and you get an incredible view.

The rooftop bar is ok but brings a lot of the public to it and I felt that hotel guests were a bit of an afterthought and didn’t really get exclusive access to it at a peak time such as Thanksgiving week when I stayed. Any time you went up for a look it was busy, sometimes with people only up for a photo opportunity and this was despite reception advising me that guests would get priority - not in my experience. I stood at the lift entrance to the top floor for around 15 minutes until I was finally told you could just walk up and didn’t need to wait.

The lifts can be a bit of a wait at times but there are plenty of them to accommodate all. Make sure you select your floor on the screens outside the lift and go to the one it tells you to. Don’t just jump into an available lift as it may not go to your floor.

The one major negative I want to make clear to people visiting, especially those from the U.K/ Europe which isn’t common for us is the hotel takes $100 per night for the length of your stay as a “deposit” for any incidentals used/purchased such as room service. I find this process and procedure wholly excessive, especially in my own experience as a guest who was staying for 4 nights and didn’t have any other charges to my room. The hotel insists on having a card registered to the booking (common practice for Hilton’s in the U.K.) and money is taken from your account for any other service you use. I just don’t see why it’s necessary for both a card to be registered and a hold of $100 per night to be taken. I checked out 6 days ago and I’m still waiting for this to be refunded to my bank account. This will catch out some travellers as it’s not made clear when booking and it’s only brought to light when checking in. Potential to eat into people’s holiday budgets as you won’t see it again until a week or two after you get home.

This is my second stay and I’m sad to say it was nowhere near as nice as the first. I’m here on business, so I guess I’m not here for the views and culture anyway 🤷🏽‍♀️ the good: I was given a room at noon, well before check in, which was very nice. They let me upgrade for only $75 a night to a river view room, also very kind of them. The bad: the room’s one window was taken up entirely by the gigantic name TRUMP in 20 ft letters at eye level. I’m embarrassed to say I had a strong physical/emotional reaction and went back downstairs to shamefacedly request another room. Apparently, they get it all the time (they should sue for lost revenue!) and warned me I’d lose the room class (which was fine) and I was put in maybe the smallest room I’ve stayed in in the US (even smaller than the Soho Grand in NYC) facing an air shaft, pitch dark—room 730. I wasn’t able to get my shower temp hotter than warm, and the WiFi was very unstable (I assume it’s the location of the room, which was flanked only by service doors and hallways). Maybe I just had a spectacular room/experience last time, and my expectations were too high 😬 they are very communicative and I do feel the staff does what they can to help, when they can

My husband and I were recently in Chicago and stayed at the London House hotel for a family wedding. The location, the views and the overall beauty and cleanliness were top notch but I was VERY impressed with the level of service we received. Every single employee I encountered was warm, kind and sincere in their desire to ensure that we were enjoying our stay. From the front desk, to the servers in the lobby bar to the housekeeping staff...we were truly blown away with the team of employees. In particular Jorge, Allen, Nelson, Firket and Mark Z were quite memorable. The whole bell staff made our stay and we knew that they were invested in making sure that we were taken care of. Besides being approachable and kind. They all have a great sense of humor and were accommodating when we had any inquiries about the hotel property as well as dining and attractions. As is true with any large scale hospitality operation, it truly takes a village to make the experience appear seamless , and I know alot of hard work goes into it every day. One other item of note, I learned during my stay that many of the staff had been employed there for years which is a wonderful reflection of how Management invests in the happiness of their employees and it did not go unnoticed.
We stayed in a gorgeous room that had a very comfortable bed with beautiful bed linens and great bath towels. Our room had a separate seating area and was very well appointed and roomy. The real cherry on top was the spectacular views of the river and skyline. (I have attached a picture of the nighttime view!)
The location of this hotel is PRIME...you can walk to so many attractions as well as great shopping and unparalleled dining options. As a former Chicago resident, it was fun to play tourist and be able to stay in such a top notch property. There is fabulous rooftop dining and bar with amazing views....just don't take any fancy cameras with you, as I learned the hard way that they are not permitted in the rooftop area. If you are thinking of staying here, stop what you are doing and book it now, I promise you will not be disappointed!
Thank you London House for a wonderful and memorable stay in the 312!

Recently stayed at LondonHouse Chicago for 5 days n business. Location great - rooms facing the river or Michigan Avenue. Everything within walking distance, from Navy Pier, to the Bean to the Lake. If you have a chance, take the Chicago Architectural River Cruisse- recommended by the hotel and a great way to see Chicago and learn about its architecture. I stayed in a one bedroom suite on a higher level so not bothered by street noise. VIsited the rooftop bar and ate a few times in the onsite restaurant. If you prefer, a lot of restaurants within walking distance. The hotel is in a renovated building (1923) but has kept a lot of its old charm. Cannot speak highly enough about the service, from the time I arrived at the door and was greeted by Valet and bell service folks to the welcome and room upgrade at the front desk. Even got a text from Supervisor Ken halfway through our stay just checking in to see how things were going and if we needed anything. Rooms were nicely appointed with amenities such as robes/slippers and lovely quality shampoo/body wash. Shout out to Mark, Allen, George and Fi kret from the bell staff who arranged for taxis, gave suggestions for places to visit and welcomed us back like family when we returned after a day out in the city. I would definitely recommend LondonHouse as a place to stay if you are planning travel to Chicago in the future.

I stayed here for a business trip and was delighted. Shams checked me in and went above and beyond checking me in and making sure I knew about the hotel. I had a beautiful city skyline and river view. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the bathroom was well appointed. The layout of the room was thoughtful - automatic motion sensing lights for the bathroom, a light switch next to the bed to control lights in the entire room, a dual hinged swinging shower door. Truly loved every minute of my stay!

I wasn’t charged a resort fee for the Londonhouse. I was charged tax for city, state, and county but no resort fee.

The Trump sign is indeed massive, lighted brightly, and located directly across from the hotel and visible from all the rooms (both upper and lower floors) that have good views of the City and the rivers. It is, I agree, deeply unfortunate and -- at least to me -- one major disadvantage of staying at the hotel.
