I just returned from a horrible stay at this Renaissance. When I checked in, the clerk said I was given "a really nice room overlooking State Street." But she neglected to tell me that I also would have really awful exposure to the nearby El, which rumbled constantly. The heat didn't work properly, and the shower didn't drain. As noted...

Thanks for the honest review Virginia. As with most renovations there are good days and bad days and we are sorry that it was particularly noisy during your stay as we know how frustrating noise can be. We hope to be finished soon! We are following up on the room issues you mentioned and if you would like to speak...

The Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel is the perfect hostelry for business, tourist, and family travelers. The staff treats each guest like a member of the family and the location at State Street and Wacker Driver is ideal since there is easy access to the Magnificent Mile, the Theatre and Financial Districts, and a host of Museums and Universities.

But I'm not quite sure why. This hotel is awesome! I'm estimating that it will be even more awesome once the renovations are complete. The price is right, the location is right, the service is right, the food is right and the rooms are right! Anddddd, they have built in cell-phone chargers. I know that sounds small but it was...

As of my visit, there were major renovations under way. It was a long walk to reception, unless you can take advantage of mobile check-in. This is a great location for a Chicago stay, lot's of great restaurant options. Everything in the facility was relocated to temporary space, which wasn't too bad but the bar was understaffed on two separate...

Here celebrating my sister's 50th birthday. They made sure we had a river view and completely unasked, sent up a bottle of wine and cheese plate to help celebrate. Perfect location and great staff. Yes they are undergoing renovations, but it was barely noticeable.

I have stayed here in the past and I will admit that the stays have been relatively uneventful but my last day about a week ago did not go so well first of all the hotel is under construction in my book that's a big red flag you go in close to where you normally would go in but when...

Staff and service was great even though the upper floors are all closed for renovations. I was upgraded to a river view room as a platinum member, but wasnt expecting half of the hotel to be under construction when I walked in the door. Providing excellent service is one of our top priorities here at the Renaissance Chicago! We are delighted to hear our service met your expectations and you enjoyed our morning breakfast. We do want to apologize for the inconvenience the renovation caused to your stay and hope you will still choose to join us again when traveling to the windy city....

Stayed 3rd week of Jan during construction and it's loud. The continuous grinding of power tools vibrates throughout. Hard to get anything done. Lounge was nice but front desk woman was rude when I was checking in. You would think rates would be attractive during this period but there not. Views are nice but that's about it.
