Stayed two nights. True the rooms are dated and furnishings a bit worn and need of renovation, but the room was clean and suited our purpose. We had a Lakeview that was just delightful. You simply cannot deny that it is well located, making a stay and sightseeing a breeze. Good restaurants, parks, and sights (Art Institute of Chicago) so... More

I came to Chicago with my sister for long weekend to take care of a family matter and we stayed at the congress hotel. The staff was accommodating and polite. The room we had was very spacious and clean. The double bed consisted of 1king size bed and 1full size bed, enough to sleep 3 people very comfortably. The location... More

Very basic and not very clean. Bar staff extremely rude and distant just made us want to be anywhere but there. Rooms not cleaned daily etc etc etc Don't bother unless no other choice . The good thing about it is it is central so you can get to the shops and river and lake easily

Old and having character is ok- dingy, unmaintained and rough is not. Here with a business group for meetings and there is really nothing positive to say. Not one area of the hotel is well-kept. Air conditioning is smelly and barely cool. Service is mediocre. Disappointing and doesn't do much to bolster the image of a very neat town of... More

We stayed at the Congress Plaza at the start of our Route 66 trip. The service was the worst we had ever experienced. The staff is absolutely careless. The room was average, uncomfortable bed with hard pillows. The air conditioning unit extremely noisy, even when turned off. The best thing about this hotel is the location. Close to all the... More

I got a great deal on a room ($145 a night). The hotel was older but not unacceptably so. The hotel staff was helpful and kind. A good hotel for a short, cheap stay. Good: Classy, excellent location, cheap, good value. Bad: No amenities, older hotel, occasional train noise (I slept through it) Most of the reviews I read had... More

Just got back from 4 days, 3 nights in Chicago, stayed at The Congress Plaza on Michigan Avenue. It's a place that's definitely seen better days. It's old, and looks it. Everything was repainted to be cleaner and brighter. For the price, it was OK. That's a VERY pricey area, and the Congress Plaza is on the less expensive side.... More

If your after a budgets night sleep in the centre of Chicago then this is the place. What you won't get is quiet from the traffic or the neighbours and the decor needs refurbishing from top to bottom. You get what you pay for so be happy with the price but don't have high expectations.

My boss and I stayed at Congress hotel for a business trip last week and despite all the mixed reviews that I had seen on trip advisor we were very pleased with this hotel. The location was great, the staff was awesome, and the room and bathroom were very clean and spacious. I know a lot of people have said... More
