After a very long flight from England we booked in. Our room was okay dark. Bathroom was very small. After dropping our luggage in our room we went off to explore. That evening we got ready for a well earned rest. We couldn't sleep because of the noise of the air conditioning unit outside our room. Not good enough Essex...

My family and I visited Chicago August 2014. We stayed at the Essex Inn as it was one of the recommended hotels in the Fodor's Chicago. We found all the staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean. The pool area was spacious and the terrace off the pool area had great views of the park. The bellmen were...

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights in August 2014 We appreciated the location that was close enough to the train and all the happenings of downtown Chicago. The rooms are smaller than average which I suppose is typical to that of a hotel downtown. We wanted to use the wifi to search for our next adventure downtown. This...

The biggest factor for a hotel is location. This one is right on michigan ave & is a ten minute walk to millenium park, soldier field, grant park, and most importantly five minutes to the red line stop at Harrison. It's hard to picture a better location in Chicago for a tourist. Wrigley, cellular field, goose island, the loop, navy...

The location is great--across the street from Grant Park; few blocks from Millennium Park, Soldier Field, museums, & train station. The pool area was nice with beautiful view of Lake Michigan. The hotel is a little dated on the outside, but not too bad inside. The room was probably the one thing that I feel was lacking. The bathroom sink...

We spent one night at this Michigan Avenue hotel in July. It is conveniently located near Grant Park events. We were welcomed by the courteous front desk personnel, and directed to our room. Our room was clean and spacious. There is a well appointed work out area near the large pool and lovely outside patio. There is a reasonably priced...

The Essex Inn, in downtown Chicago, is located in the heart of everything happening! The hotel itself is a grand old lady, perhaps a little worn, but with outstanding staff and Location! We utilized the valet parking, our car was available any time, at no additional in/out charge. The 4th floor pool-spa-workout room were great, along with an outdoor seating...

The Essex Inn is a fairly nice hotel on South Michigan Avenue. It is directly across from Grant Park and easily accessible to the Museum Campus. My family of four walked there two times during our stay (in less than 10 minutes). Note the following: the rooms are perfectly well-appointed with comfortable beds, a desk, fridge, microwave, etc); the bathrooms...

We enjoyed this hotel very much. It's location is excellent. Friendly staff, nice breakfast (in the restaurant next to the lobby). Room (three people) was small but clean. Good shower, good beds. Fresh towels every day. I recommend it! The Legend Blues cafe is very nearby and had food, drinks and nice gigs. We had a nice evening there.
