The Essex is probably THE economical choice in the Michigan ave/Loop area in Chicago. The room is clean and no frills. The staff is courteous and I had everything I needed for my recent stay. The location really is terrific, across from the Art Institute and nearby Millennium Park. The Field Museum and Shedd Aquarium are also close--and visible, along...

When first entering the hotel it looks pretty good. Entering the lift and finding our floor a little bit more dark and grimy. The pool was unclean but they have a decent fitness suite. They don't have an on site bar or restaurant which is disappointing but there's a cool sports bar around the corner, kitty o'sheas Irish themed pub...

My husband had a conference and some meetings in the financial district in Chicago and we decided on this hotel based on reviews and price comparisons in that area.
