This is the first time I've ever wrote a review of a hotel. We booked in here in a hurry and didn't check reviews etc.... big mistake. Firstly it is tucked away down a side road in Chicago, but that's not so bad. When you walk in the door the first thing to hit you is the smell, I gonna...

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights 09-12-2011 and unfortunlately was reminded in part of a real flophouse I stayed in Miami in December 1977. Clearly the operators of the Chinatown Hotel do the minimum and little else. I rented a "suite" for myself and a friend, and even a very experienced traveler like myself was surprised to find...

These people are Idiots!!! We couldn't even stay our first night so I can't even judge the rooms, but we booked online and arrived very late after a 20 hr. work day for a corporate event production downtown. After speaking with the night clerk and driving around for 1.5 hours looking for parking within 1 mile or so of this...

Two stars for the fact that it is close to downtown, with easy public transportation access. Of course many good restaurants are outside your door and the large Mexican neighborhood Pilsen, along 18th St. is a short distance away (but dont try walking it!). Chicago is a tough hotel town for anyone on a budget, so that may account for...

This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in out of many many over the years. Big bugs - cockroaches, dirty carpet and sheets, filty walls, hole in the bathroom door, horrible lumpy bed, door had been broken inward so was loose and trim pulled away (a good shove would push the door in), had to take the lid off...

I can't say anything good about the hotel. It has serious bugs in their rooms. I got bites all over my body after the first night I stayed and requested to switch a room. The front desk person was not surprised at all that their room has bugs and complained that I should have told him earlier. After been switched...

My boyfriend and I stayed here when we went to see the tourist spots in Chicago despite having read the terrible reviews cause this was within a few miles of most places we needed to go and was in our price range. We were very pleasantly surprised. I was expecting bugs and an absolutely horrible experience based on things I...

Got this hotel through priceline, only a suite was still available, $85 seemed reasonable. I arrived past midnight on a sweltering day. Reception OK, climbed the stairs and entered "the suite". It was hotter inside than outside, I mean it was stifelingly HOT, I estimate upper 80's in the room. The bigger room of the two had no curtains and...

To say we were ‘disappointed’ with this hotel would be the understatement of the century. First of all we arrived to find there was no elevator despite having 3 floors in the building, and as we had a lot of luggage this was not much appreciated. The second we walked into the room it was clear we were staying in...

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown may be one of Chicago’s smallest neighborhoods geographically, but it's big on character, colors, sights, sounds, and flavors. In this South Side neighborhood, you’ll find authentic Chinese restaurants dotting the length of Wentworth Avenue. After a meal of dim sum, noodles, duck or other tantalizing food specialties, satiate your visual appetite with dozens of public art sculptures sprinkled throughout the neighborhood ranging from animal structures to pagodas, a tile mosaic, Chinatown Gate, and a Buddhist Temple.
