This was a lovely place to relax at the end of our holiday traveling round Sri Lanka. Quite and beautiful with a lovely pool. The food was good and the staff were helpful. The rooms were large, well equipped and comfortable. The whole place was very attractive and I would certainly recommend it. My only criticisms were a lack of wifi in the room and the dogs were a little scary at first. We loved the pet cow.

We stayed just north of Columbo for four days to recover from jetlag - it was perfect large tranquil surrounded by the Gin Oya (Green River). The new Sri Lankan owner has the magic touch of making wonderful food and totally attentive. The pool is beautiful, cool and refreshing. They have a piano for music lovers and huge trees great for bird watching. They create an ambiance that connects guests to eeach other - we made lovely friends that we reconnected with during our travels thoughtout Sri Lanka.

We stayed here for the last few days of our holiday in Sri Lanka and we left in style. This place is a real gem. Rooms are very spacious, with huge bed and seating both in the room and on the veranda. Large swimming pool. The lodge is reached through a gate and then up a tree lined drive, all very atmospheric. It's about 1km from beach and nearest restaurant, but bikes are provided for free and the local roads are very quiet. We ate in twice and had a excellent set meal. It turns out the hotel had been sold to new owners two days before we arrived, both of whom we met and seem very nice. I really hope they can maintain the standards set by their predecessors.

This place is amazing to end or start your trip! The place is so beautiful, the atmosphere just breaths calmness... we loved the possibility to use the canoes. The pool is super clean and big, their own cow is the cutest, their food is to die for. And their breakfast... my god... + in the evenings you can watch the huge bats wake up and fly out to eat, super impressive!

It took us a while to find the lodge - we and our driver got lost 3 times and the people that arrived at the same time as us also got lost. So some arrival information including photos of the gate may be helpful in future as there is one sign on one junction but then nothing. Anyway having arrived it is a very nice peaceful venue with a lovely pool. It is on a river though so make sure you use insect repellant as we were continually bitten. There are kayaks to use. They do not take card payments which we didn’t know until we arrived. Payment is only by cash or bank transfer which can be tricky as they have foreign bank accounts compared to your home country potentially. It is a small place with about 6 colonial style homes each with an outside shower/bathroom and seating out the front on a verandah. The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable. The bathroom is generally clean although the shower curtain needs replacing. For info there are no toiletries provided. There is no WiFi in the rooms and only limited WiFi available sometimes for only part of the day if their allowance runs out. So if you need to be online I suggest you try elsewhere. They have a lovely large pool with good quality beds. There is a nice dining area serving basic, ample breakfast every morning. The quality of food is excellent and the evening meals are a set 3 courses all home made which I would recommend having. The lady that generally runs the lodge is lovely and very friendly - her husband is an excellent cook. The spa services are a definite when you are there but book up as soon as you arrive as very popular and very competitively priced. They also have an extensive library of books that you can borrow. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Ging Oya Lodge on our way back to Colombo airport after a busy 2 weeks.

Sitting in a comfortable chair, sipping my beer, the high ceiling above supported by elegant pastel coloured columns, surrounded by old furniture, trinkets, books and large original paintings, the "wall" infront replaced by open space with views of the wooded gardens, a gentle breeze blowing in, I wondered if this was all a lovely dream. We stayed three nights here after our tour of the highlands and it was all just perfect. The welcome from the owners, the individual air conditonned cottages, the food, the huge pool and the very enjoyable massages. I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you Myrjam and Leo for creating this wonderful place!

We stayed for two nights after travelling around Sri Lanka for a month. It was a lovely way to finish our holiday. The bungalow was very large, comfortable and quiet. Food: very good we had breakfast and dinner. Dinner was a set three courses, plenty of it and no issues for vegetarians. Nice wines which was a change. We enjoyed using the canoes along the river. Only 30 minutes from the airport. Good stay.

We stayed here for a few nights at the start of our tour. Room was lovely, hosts were great, the pool was big and we had it to ourselves regularly. We borrowed a kayak to go to the beach which was a great way to spend a day. And they lend you water bottles so you can use their special tap for drinking water, reducing plastic pollution and your impact on the environment, which was fabulous! It was a relaxed intro to Sri Lanka but we were the youngest people there which felt a bit wierd (we were assured this was unusual) and the owners are European (which was easy for us) so the food and the lodges are more colonial and less "Sri Lankan".

Great place to acclimatise for a couple of days after your flight into Colombo. It's only 30 minutes drive from the international airport but it's quiet, calm and rural. Well set out beside a river. Canoes available for those who feel adventurous. There's not a lot to do close by but you can walk to the sea in about 20 minutes. Friendly and very welcoming owners and staff. Food is all home-made and we had a good breakfast and evening meal every day we were there. Very nice swimming pool - good size and clean - with plenty of sun loungers for guests. Our rooms were more than adequate. Mosquito nets were provided but we didn't have any problems with insects. Open air bathroom with netting to keep larger animals out.
