In summer, fresh fruit, sauces, jams, pickles, juices, vegetables and plants can be purchased directly from the abundant roadside stalls. The Roxburgh township is located on the banks of the mighty Clutha River which boasts some of the best salmon fishing in New Zealand. Surrounding lakes are well stocked with Brown and Rainbow trout and Lake Roxburgh is the ideal spot for watersports – kayaking, jetboating, water skiing and sailing. Roxburgh hosts many activities varying from a challenging 18 hole golf course, 4WD tracks, movie theatre, biking and several walks ranging from the leisurely town walk to a rewarding hill climb on the Bullock Track, which offers a spectacular vista of the Teviot Valley. There are plenty of historic locations to be found and enjoyed. A visit to Roxburgh would not be complete without trying one of our world famous Jimmy’s Pies.
A fabulous place to stay on the Clutha Gold Trail. The L Team girls bikers had a lovely overnight stay here to rest our weary legs. Very comfortable and very clean accomodation and the owner lit the fire for us. Plenty of room to spread out in lovely surroundings. Would highly recommend
So tranquil. Lovely comfortable cottage....and bed. Grounds immaculately kept. Lots of things available for guests to use...bikes, pool ( not so much for winter...but perfect for summer guests), playground for children.
On our cycling trip we stayed at these cottages. Cottage was very roomy and superbly decorated. Only negative thing was a roll together double bed which was uncomfortable. Owner Christine shuttled us down to Roxburgh and back for dinner talk about super service. Overall gets a 5 star especially for those on the Clutha Gold bike trail.

HI Ken - glad you enjoyed and sorry about the bed most say they are comfy will have to look into it maybe try it myself lol??? Hope you had nice easy ride down to Millers Flat and enjoyed the rest of the trail...cheers Christine
We stayed at the Clutha Gold Cottages in a large group that included 4 children that were 6 years old or younger and the facilities were perfect with playgrounds, trampoline and some farm animals to keep them amused. Christine the manager was extremely helpful and was always smiling at even the busiest times. The chalets we stayed in were basic but clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. It is a short distance outside Roxburgh but a good base for some good walks in the area (Bikes and helmets are available at the Cottages free of charge).
Had one night stay camping when cycling. Even after recent rain storm all facilities were working. Nice peaceful park like setting with great wifi. Would recommend to fellow cyclists doing the Clutha Gold Cycle Trail.
