After a couple hours of riding we settled on this place for lunch. There were about 10 people there when we arrived and a few people stopping in for gas.
There were 4 of us for lunch. Food was ok and we each had a...More

Thank you for your review. I am sorry we didn't meet your expectations and that I miscalculated how busy we would be and ran out of our fresh french fries. We do appreciate reviews...both good, which we usually get, and those that will help us...More
My son and I visited Ash Trail Lodge located on the Ash River in northern Minnesota the last week of Sept. 2016. The resort has log cabins that were clean and efficient. The beds were comfy and the surrounding grounds of the resort were well...More

Thank you for the kind words! We thank you for being our guest and hope you will join us again someday in the future!
I come here every year, I come for the food. Their cabins look very nice, though. But every time I eat here I try something different and everything I've eaten has been really good. I've had the frog legs, walleye, prime rib and all of...More
Stayed here one night while traveling cross-country and visiting the local NP. Since we were staying only one night, we stayed in one of the rooms adjoining the dining hall. Nice room for the price and was just what we needed for visiting the NP....More
Gorgeous location in northern Minnesota's Voyageur's National Park area, but what really makes this spot terrific is the hospitality of Deb & Steve, the owners who do everything imaginable to make your stay fantastic and hassle-free.
They run a simple but fun bar/lounge/restaurant ... the...More

Hi Sherri! Thanks for your question and its a hard one to answer! Yes, the Trail is somewhat changed but not in a bad way... we are NOT a commercialized vacation spot... a few resorts, seasonal homes and a scenic river to ride down! There might be a few more docks in the river but not much else! The Voyageurs National Park has made sure our waterways are wild and natural too! There is no commercial development in the National Park either except for Kettle Falls which still exists where you can get food and lodging IN the actual national park. We are a central gateway now to the park!
Our resort has made upgrades through the years... 12 cabins, lodge (expanded in 1996) and restaurant still exist. Even some of the cabins you might remember..Pine and Wren, one bedroom cabins, are vintage but with up to date amenities! And the bay still runs through our property so most all cabins are on the water! The area across the river is still wild and scenic... no houses or development on it either so your view is still "natural"! But we do have newer full log cabins on the property with great amenities for smaller to large groups. Quite clean and comfortable for our guests! So, we would love to host your family next summer and will work very hard to make it a great holiday for you! And we would love to see any pictures you might have of your earlier stays here! Thanks!
