Savannah Lodge is terrific! Amanda is a lovely hostess who goes above and beyond to please her guests.
The gardens are shady and peaceful, the pool is great and the bar is well stocked and awesome! Cabins are very clean and comfy with everything you need and you can cook yourself a bbq or buy a tasty pizza, made especially by Amanda!
The welcoming atmosphere, top hospitality and wonderful facilities make Savannah Lodge absolutely the best place around and worth making a special trip to get there!
Thanks so much Amanda, Paul and staff for a most memorable stay.
Your friendliness and service were 'simply the best!'

The Savannah Lodge certainly lives up to its reputation. We were in a cabin that had a large combined bedroom and lounge, with a separate kitchen area. There was a nice balcony with comfortable seating.
I thought that the price was a little high for what we got. Considering the lack of alternatives in Burketown, you have to pay the price they are asking.
The grounds are lovely, a real oasis as mentioned by other reviewers. The bar area is excellent with a terrific selection of drinks
The only downside was that the wifi was unusable in our cabin. Note that they don’t offer dinner and Burketown itself is not a gourmet’s paradise.

Savannah Lodge is an amazing accommodation in the centre of Burketown. A real sanctuary of calm and peacefulness. The rooms - cabins are well laid out with toaster, kettle and microwave in the kitchen area. Aircon and TV. Beautifully clean and our own deck at the rear. High speed wifi available at the Bar/Restaurant.. Friendly staff. Washing machine ($4per load on site) Swimming pool and Pizza available too. Highly recommended to anyone passing through Burketown. Top tip.. book in early as this accommodation is highly sought after.

Stayed for two nights. Management is excellent, as is the presentation of the lodge. Clearly the best accommodation in Burketown and certainly a credit to the owners to set up and operate successfully this business in a remote location such as Burketown. It is offers much more than accommodation and I am sure it would satisfy the most discerning traveller.

Everything about the lodge is excellent, from the location in a leafy green oasis to the super friendly owners and it was a delight to arrive here in the heat of the afternoon.
The cabins are separate with twin beds and very spacious with a kitchenette suitable, for preparing your own meals.
The beds were excellent and we slept well in the quiet environs.
Will stay again next time in the area.

It’s all been said before, but Savannah Lodge is a great place. Sitting out the back of the rooms overlooking the grass in Bowen Street, you could convince yourself you were in Kenya. The rooms are refreshingly large quiet and well appointed - particularly for the Far North, and the hospitality from the owners and staff is warm and genuine. No one can deny Burketown is not easy to get to, but you could do a lot worse than take it easy and relax at the lodge for a few days. If we get up this way again we certainly will.

This is a real oasis with accommodation all within an exquisite garden with mosaics and other unique touches. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We felt spoilt way out from anywhere after many hours on the road. The rooms are spread around the property with boardwalks between the areas. Pizza night was great too with an outside area with coloured lights adding to the ambience. A delicious and plentiful breakfast was served here also. It is a friendly efficiently run family business. What an asset to the town!

Savannah Lodge is a beautiful green oasis in a harsh environment. The gardens are gorgeous and wonderfully quirky with repurchased objects used as art or plant stands. The bar is tastefully decorated and an absolute pleasure to visit. The accommodation is superb and we were lucky enough to enjoy one with its own balcony enabling us to enjoy the birds and visiting wallabies in tranquillity. Amanda is a fantastic hostess, being friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. This place is gorgeous!

I have just done a week in the Gulf for work where I returned here each night after going to Doomadgee, Normanton and Burketown. It was a little oasis to return to each evening. The accommodation is great and the facilities are very good with a great bar (Poppy Joes) with a restaurant serving pizza and nachos at night and a decent breakfast each morning. It was also great that our pilot each day doubled up of an evening serving us as did the other pilots including Paul the owner. Nothing at all to criticise. I would have given 5 points if it was a slightly more varied menu but overall excellent and highly recommended. Amanda was also a great host.

Fabulous 2 week stay in this beautiful oasis! The 10 private cabins are all well appointed, air conditioned and surrounded by trees, complete with delightful pool perfect for cooling off in the warm weather. Amanda was a great host, providing drinks, pizzas and brekky when needed, and also helpful when our group self catered around the barbecue. A truly wonderful stay!

Yes they do serve a very good breakfast. You need to let the managers know the night before and they will prepare a cooked or continental breakfast for you along with tea, coffee, juice.
