The location of this hotel is great. It’s close to Neptune park, pier, shops and restaurants. However, there was no beach access because of tide which required a drive to east beach. The biggest disappointment (other than no beach access which couldn’t be helped) was the pool was closed the entire time we were there. We had not been on vacation for some time because of covid so this not being a part of our time away was a big deal. We asked at the end of the trip of any discount would be offered as a result and the answer was no. Parking was also very difficult and limited at times but by the end of the week we learned you could park across the street which was much easier than trying to park in the very small garage/grounds.

Great Location! Great rate for a Friday and Saturday night, based on competing properties, certainly. The OIS is right across from the lighthouse, a historical landmark but more importantly OIS is less than 750 feet from the local restaurants and retail shops. And there are some great eateries and watering holes nearby (reviews featured here in T.A). Any downsides to the OIS, you ask? Not any "cons" that are so pronounced or overt that you should seek other accomodations, truthfully, especially given this day and age of Covid. The property is probably a 7 out of 10 for cleanliness, 10 out of 10 for location, same for staff, and a 6 based on what would be a reflection of the reinvestment of capital into the property. Management always has a certain percentage of control in the hospitality business, but the end decisions always culminate with owners and CEO's, and those decisions render a property that is fully functional and under constant improvement, hence the 6 out of 10 rating here. Not reason enough to go elsewhere unless you are the type of traveler that demands 8/9 out of 10 ratings consistently. We do recommend OIS for your next stay in this great laid back little piece of heaven. Travel On!!!!!

Not quite sure why all the negative reviews of this establishment were submitted. We found the hotel to be super clean and very accommodating for the week we had stayed there during the off season. Tom, the front desk pro, made our stay here all the more pleasant with his knowledge of the island and his willingness to meet our every need. Because of Covid, the cleaning crew wasn't able to do a daily thorough cleaning of our room. But they sure were very helpful in refreshing our towels, bed linen and any other items we needed during our stay. For those who have complained about the musty odor, having lived on the Island myself for two years, the smell of the water (especially the toilet water) as well as being downwind of a nearby paper pulp mill, such odors tend to permeate throughout buildings. This hotel has taken every step to minimize such unpleasantries, and I commend the staff for their actions. All in all, we had a great stay at Ocean Inn and wouldn't hesitate to spend multiple days there again.

The location has such potential and you’d think that this would be an easy choice for a couples weekend in St. Simons. Not only is the place a good 20+ years past due for some renovations, but it’s also obvious that they’re skimping one anything that would help to make up for the dated decor. The shampoo, conditioner, etc. are in wall pumps that have mildew around the edges. The room smelled of mildew and mild and tit was oddly damp/humid in the room. When we woke up in the morning there was even condensation on everything. We stayed only one night of our 2 night reservation and were still waiting on a call from management to discuss a refund of our 2nd night. The room was clean, but the blankets on the bed were stained and there were waited stains/spots on the walls and even the curtains. Call me when this place has a new owner and management.
