This place is so relaxing and beautiful- we went the first weekend they opened after being closed due to Hurricane Matthew- There were a lot of trees down but it was still very beautiful. I liked that the tent only camping was in a different location than the RV camping. All camping spots are within a nice stroll of the...

We were visiting Savannah and wanted to get out of the city an see the country side (we call it getting the flavor of the area) and stumbled onto Fort McAllister. We wandered around the day park and then went into the museum and fort, what a nice surprise. The museum is free to the public and explains in great...

We went here on our last day of vacation to tour the museum. The inside exhibits are good, but the outside walking tour is even better. Your admission fee includes a brochure with numbered points describing what you are looking at when walking along the path. You get a better idea of the history, the soldiers' living conditions and how...

We camped for three nights in site 63. It was a great site, very spacious, close to the nature trail, semi-private. There were two fun play grounds and a nice camp store. The bathrooms near the tent sites were pretty gross. The bathrooms in the middle of the rv sites were newer and cleaner. The sites were shaded and there...

I booked our specific campsite over a month out, so I could get a specific site which was more secluded than others. Upon arrival, I wasn't happy to learn that it's first-come-first-serve for tent sites; although when booking through the website, you still have to select a specific site. The campsites are very close together and not very private. The...

Nice campground with level spacious pull through sites. Lots of trees and sites are laid out to ensure a sense of privacy. Nice nature trail, boat dock/fishing pier. Bring insect repellant - as with most coastal marsh areas the gnats were a nuisance. We will definitely visit again and will bring our bicycles and kayaks.

We stayed two nights in a spacious two bedroom cabin. Multiple flat screen tv's. Large kitchen, and living area. Screened patio. Located in a quiet area. Ideal for walks, bicycling. Nice view of a marsh. All cabins are on stilts. One has ramp access.

I live nearby and go to this park often. Most recently this past weekend for a group gathering/overnight camp. This park literally has it all! You can fish or boat in either the Ogeechee River or Red Bird Creek. You can hike. You can explore the fort. You can play or picnic in the park. You can car camp or...

I went here as part of our Sherman's March to the Sea staff ride. It's a well preserved earthen fort that was used by the Confederates to defend the Ogeechee River south of Savannah. They have a several cannons and other elements of fortifications from that period on display, and there are reenact or events there as well, unfortunately not...

My wife and stayed here for an extended weekend in October 2015 for a family wedding which was also held on property. There is some much this location has to offer, boating, fishing, kayaking, walking trails, quiet, open pull through spaces and much more. Having staying in many camp grounds and state parks in Florida, I found this location to...
