In order to get to Thonga beach resort, we were picked up at a place called Coastal Cashews at around 15 km from the resort, where we could park our rental and where a 4x4 jeep from the resort would take us in an hour’s drive to the resort over bumpy and sandy roads with many cows on them. Thonga...

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thorough review. Given that this is a remote area we do experience issues with internet, especially given that it is especially slower when there is cloud cover as our internet works off a satellite connection, we do not have fibre optic infrastructure in this remote area. We understand...

WOW. A fantastic 3 weeks in Africa was finished off at this beautiful little beach resort. Off the beaten track and as it says a civilised distance from civilisation. Fantastic beach and brilliant accommodation with absolutely beautiful food. We couldn't of asked for more. Service was excellent as exemplified by Chandre and Brett who were so helpful going above and...

An idyllic hideaway from the world where wildlife, a unique coastal forest and the sea all combine in luxurious surroundings. I loved it. Watched leatherbacks lay eggs, enjoyed a fabulous forest nature walk, snorkelled in rock pools and out to sea, say green turtle and guitar shark and just loved it. The food is plentiful and tasty. The staff are...

As one of the Swiss couples said "we have the world in our country!" .... and this place personifies the whole world. The natural beauty is beyond reproach. Not only do you have the vast untouched beaches and ocean with tropical seaside, turtles and dolphins, you also have Lake Sibaya with hippos, crocs and birds. Thonga Beach Lodge and it's...

A great weekend turtle spotting. We couldn't ask for more and were fortunate to see both Leatherbacks and Loggerheads. The highlight was definitely seeing Leatherback hatchlings - thanks to our wonderful Guide Ashley. We weren't so fortunate with the weather, even so, Thonga is still a little bit of paradise and worth the journey. Look forward to going back.

Thank you for your super review. What an absolute treat to see both Leatherback and Loggerhead turtles. The little hatchlings are just remarkable. We are glad you found it worth the journey despite the weather not playing its part. Do visit us again soon.

Helpful attentive staff, great food, clean and comfortable accommodation a few steps from the beach. We saw a turtle's nest and a turtle making its way back to the sea. No phone or internet made the place perfect.

My husband and I returned to Thonga for the second time and found it even better than before. The rooms are beautiful and the beach is so close with excellent snorkeling. The highlight for me was the excellent food, especially the freshly baked cake each afternoon.

We spent the most amazing few days at Thonga Beach Lodge. The staff were friendly and helpful and the accommodation suited our needs and the environment perfectly. The lodge is cleverly-hidden by the trees and right on the beautiful, unspoiled and uncrowded beach with a wooden deck if you don't want to sit on the sand. We saw the turtles...

It is a wonderful retreat which is a 'civilised distance from civilisation' and we are thrilled you enjoyed your stay here. Seeing the turtles is indeed a priviledge and a highlight. We would love to see you again, and especially to see the hatchlings. All the best for a wonderful 2017 Regards, Dee Wilson

Its true the setting of the lodge is fabulous, the staff is very friendly and the food is good. Nevertheless it lacks management capabilities. We have been to many lodges on our long trip to southern Africa. We know what we can expect and what not and we also take into account the relatively remote situation of the lodge. However...

Dear HPB8803 Thank you so much for taking the time to write very constructive feedback. We apologise that our service on many levels did not meet your expectations. Many of the items you raise here are indeed inexcusable and we have escalated this to the most senior management who have been investigating these things. Systems will certainly be put in...
