Definitely needs updating :( Especially carpet in main lodge & restaurant. Overall great area in the mountains. Close to Helen and lots of fun things to do hiking, zip lining, horse back riding etc. Lodge is outdated - Needs Painting inside for sure & very much in need of new flooring in main lodge & restaurant. Carpet very outdated and... More

I have tried for several weeks to make reservations at one of Georgia's state parks. They always seem to booked on the weekend. I thought "WOW. Must be great places. So I booked Monday- Thursday. On Monday after we checked, we had to walk up several steps with our rolling luggage. We were assigned to D building. The room was... More

After a spectacular stay in a barrel cabin last year, we decided to "rough it" and spend a night in the Squirrel's Nest, which is an open outdoor camping platform. While it would have been nice if the Boy Scout troop sharing the site would have slept a little later, these are the risks you take choosing a place like... More

We had never been to Unicoi before and were concerned after reading some of the latest reviews. We stayed in a barrel cabin. 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, complete kitchen all utensils included, living room, dining area and deck. Down side - stairs - both getting to the cabin from the parking lot and inside the cabin. Bathroom is on first... More

We have been coming to Unicoi as a family for years and enjoyed the "barrel cabins". Had not spent time at the Lodge for 15+ years. Our visit was very pleasant. The setting is lovely- lots of planting seeds and flowers- and the room was comfortable and clean. A great place for a relatively inexpensive (we took advantage of a... More

The good news is internet service and a lovely setting. The bad news includes saggy bed, flat pillows, worn and dirty furniture and carpet, bed not made, lights and radio not plugged in, bathroom fan always on and roaring loudly as if a train was in the room, no elevator, mildew-smell sheets, and check-in staff who were slow and inefficient.... My family and I are from Florida and have been looking for a permanent camping location for our yearly camping trips. We have been searching for a location that felt "homely". We heard of Unicoi State Park from a co-worker a few years back and decided to give it a try. We previously stayed at the lodge where we met... More

If you look at it all from a distance, it looks good. But closer inspection reveals a lot of problems. I think they are working on updating some things, but the rooms are kind of gross. The building we stayed in smelled musty and old. AC in common area was so cold you couldn't stand to be in there, and... More

Pitch a tent and sleep outside. The rooms absolutely horrible. Immediately when I walked in the room I knew I was not going to enjoy my stay. The bathroom was old and grimy there was black marks all over the mirror in the bathroom the grout wasn't clean, there were tiles falling off the walls under the sink the toilet... More

I am from this area but live in Atlanta now. On a recent trip up to Helen to visit some friends from high school- we decided to stay one night here on our get together. The property is beautifully maintained and has excellent views. Our room was just fine- the beds were very comfortable. Service when checking in was friendly.... More
