Stunning hotel and Welcoming experience We struggled to hold a resignation meal for a dear Director and Peter Walker and his fantastic team at Maryculter House Hotel was more than capable of delivering a safe and wonderful evening. The private dining room was spectacular with a roaring fire, accompanied by excellent service as well as truly exceptional food. It was all first class on every level. The hotel even on arrival is warm, Scottish and understated yet luxurious. A haven to retreat too. The newly refurbished rooms were top notch and one of the comfiest sleeps I have had. Every detail was catered for and we are so grateful and we can not recommend Peter and his team highly enough. They made a very special evening Covid safe and above anything, exceptional. Thank you & Well done NorDan UK…
We were due to get married at Maryculter in April 2020 until Covid cancelled our plans. The team at Maryculter were so helpful and supportive rearranging our day I can't fault them for a single thing. We decided to continue with our wedding on Friday the 13th of November with the current Scottish Government Guidelines in place. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the hotel staff and everything went off without a hitch. The food was amazing as always and everything felt really normal which was fantastic. Can't praise Maryculter House enough for everything they did for us and highly recommend to everyone.
I used to stay here over 30 years ago whilst in Aberdeen on business but my travels never took me back, until this week . Unfortunately my ferry was 2 hours late into Stranraer which left me with a bit of dash across Scotland if I was to make in time for dinner, the sat nav gave 7.45pm arrival, the exact time of last orders for dinner. I phoned the hotel and Abi on reception went the extra mile. She suggested I pre ordered my meal and patiently read out the menu, twice!. Dinner ordered , all that was left for me to do was to get there on time. I pulled down the drive at bang on 7.45, phew, what a rush. No leisurely pre dinner drinks for me! Abi gave me a very warm and courteous reception and checked me in very quickly. I was shown straight through to the dining area where my table was ready, candle lit dinner for one! The wine was already on the table and breathing nicely . Such a relief to be there in time for food. I could finally relax after my challenging journey. The hotel was still as charming as I remember but updated in a sympathetic way. Muted pastel shades and neutral tartans gave it a feel of a boutique highland retreat, a lovely place for my one night stay. Dinner was excellent, fabulous warm home made breads, and a very nice house Merlot set the scene nicely. Oven roasted partridge with a blue cheese risotto was superb. Very nice waitress , I think she was called Millie, was very attentive and seemed genuinely happy to be providing hospitality to the many diners. Don’t normally bother with a desert, but what the heck, it was the annual Christmas dinner for one. An orange chocolate trifle was devoured , very good it was too. Suitably fed and watered I retired to my room. Beautiful , newly refurbished , and very spacious. Huge bathroom with walk in shower , and a bath. All spotless. Great nights sleep, very comfy bed and high quality linen, perfect. Up first thing for breakfast . Log fire was blazing away and the same waitress , very cheerful for such an early start . Full Scottish breakfast was cooked to perfection, toast, coffee and fruit juice all promptly served. What a wonderful stay, great ambience, great food and great bedroom. But what really made it was the team working here, such genuine warmth and professionalism ,so often not seen in many hotels I visit. I’ll try not to leave it another 30 years.…
We stayed at the hotel on the 3rd and 4th Dec for our wedding! I can honestly say it was the most amazing magical day ever and literally everything was perfect! The hotel was so beautifully decorated and the staff were absolutely amazing! They went above and beyond for us all! Special mention to Peter for everything he did, including helping me with my dress! It was everything we could have wished for and more and I would recommend Maryculter to everyone for a wedding venue! Best place ever and a very special place in our hearts!! Thank you thank you thank you! Hayley & Ross
We had the pleasure of visiting Maryculter House Hotel on 3rd and 4th December for my sons wedding. It was the most amazing event. The hotel was simply perfect: great country location, beautiful rooms, fantastic food and wonderful staff who could not have done more for us, and of course it was decorated for Christmas which made everything even more magical. It was the perfect wedding venue. Thank you for everything!!
