On our drive down to Florida we stopped midway and decided to stay here bc it is brand new. With it being brand new we figured it would be clean and overall be a great experience. When we checked in- our first room we were given- we could not believe we encountered a cockroach on the carpet, the room looked like it wasn't vacuumed. We called and they switched the room quickly and were apologetic. The staff was very accommodating and had great customer service. The second room also looked like it wasn't vacuumed but at least we didn't see another roach. We went from the 3rd floor to the 2nd floor. As we were sleeping; in the middle of the night around midnight I heard loud noises coming from the hallway and next door; an angry male cussing, yelling, angry, "cutting...". there were 2 males in the room. Needless to say I felt very unsafe as it sounded like the guy was punching the bathroom glass shower door and rolling something around. Had no idea what was going on. Someone could have been assaulted there for all I know. I called immediately downstairs and asked to send "security". Haha as no hotel has security. The front desk lady comes upstairs and talks to them and I could hear them calm down, but I could still hear every little thing going on in the room next door including the guy coughing and vomiting. We had stayed in St Simon's island and Jekyll island before and loved it there. Did not realize that when you google Brunswick, GA that it is listed as one of the top 10 list for violent crimes-cities. My next step was to call 911 if things escalated. On top of this experience; sleep quality was horrible bc the hotel is literally right next to the highway and you could hear all the cars zooming by. Please for your safety pick another hotel. If you are worried about covid- yes they have the Hilton Lysol seal stating that everything is sanitized and clean; however, don't let these stickers fool you. It is just a front. Bring your own Clorox wipes and lysol.…
We were on the way home to FL and stopped here for the nlght. Glad we did, this hotel is co-located and is built together with the Home2Suites. When you walk into the lobby to the left is the HGI front desk and to the right is the Home2 desk. The building shares the same elevators, get off the elevator go right to your HGI room, left to the Home2 room. Very clean and nice, it is brand new, what is there not to like. If you need the kitchen stay in the Home2 or a traditional room with cooked to order breakfast stay in the HGI.
We came in for a one night trip. The staff was very friendly for any questions and requests we had. The room was mostly clean - there was someone else’s drinks still in the mini-fridge but everything else seemed fine. The shower pressure is terrible if you need to wash your hair. We ate at the restaurant as well - the fries are some of the best I’ve ever had! Everything we ate was so delicious!!!
Visited on the way to Florida. Exceptionally clean rooms, attentive staff, room was well equipped for a longer term stay. Sanitation practices appeared to be followed, Great breakfast including cooked to order. We all enjoyed the stop at this hotel.
Staff was excellent and friendly, rooms were up to date and very clean. Beds very comfortable and smelt fresh! And woke up to top notch service for the hot breakfast even during these troubling times of covid! Could not be happier and say more about this hotel.
