Detailed Reviews
We spent two nights here on a powered site. Our plan was to use it as a base to explore Alligator Gorge / Mount Remarkable National Park.
It was the perfect location for that, the entrance road to Alligator Gorge is very close.
Walking into the reception of Beautiful Valley Caravan Park you are greeted by the friendly owner. He was up for a chat and is quite knowledge about the area around as well, so do ask.
The park was not really that busy so he let us pick our site.
Next up we went to check out the toilet and shower block.
Clean, water pressure and water temperature decent, no issues.
The camp kitchen is well stocked with fry pans, pots, pans, plates …. a bit of everything really.
There are two outdoor BBQs one near the camp kitchen and one near the center of the park. Standard adjustable gas BBQs nothing fancy but clean and works fine.
One thing to keep in mind is everything is very dated here, I don't mean rundown/broken but just a little older. Everything we needed worked fine and was clean/well kept. I don't see this as an issue or problem, but it was unique.
Park has very little to no road noise or light pollution at night. We had some very good views of stars one night, given it's close to a township.
There is so much wildlife around the park, from amazing birds down near the back of the park to lizards and the park's very own possums, sheep, and ponies.
There are some newer powered sites that are on gavel now, or there is plenty of space and room to pick one of the many other dirt sites.
Would return, to explore more of the national park and to see the local onsite possums again.

We arrived as our firat stop off after driving the Nullabor. We are so pleased that we resisted the tempation to stay in Port Augusta and travelled the extra 40 minites to Wilmington. They are making improvements to a number of the powered sites which are fantastic. The facilities are spotless and the campsite very clean. Hot powerful showers are a great end to a weary day exploring. A fantastic location for exploring the Mount Remarkable National Park and particularly Aligator Gorge, make sure you buy your patk pass through Stefan in the office. Just a short drive away is Melrose, not only the base ro hike Mount Remarkable but a quirky well kept town with great coffee shops and history as the oldest town in The Flinders Range. Also make the drive to Quorn for the SiloLight Show, something I reckon not many people have done. We will be back to Beautiful Valley to explore more of the nature surrounding the site 10 OUT OF 10

What a wonderful review. Thanks and so glad you enjoyed your stay here. Hope it will be as good or be even better next time you visit Beautiful Valley. Which was the original name for the Wilmington district.

We just spent two nights at the Beautiful Valley Caravan Park in Wilmington.
It’s pretty basic, but it’s clean and the owner is a good bloke!
The positives -
Close to major attractions
They have two ponies and a small flock of sheep who meander around the park, all are friendly
Parking is wherever you want, no reversing needed, sites are massive.
Amenities block is clean, they have a laundry, clothes line and a little play gym for kids.
They offer water to refill your van tanks.
The negatives-
It’s a bit close to the road, so if you park on that side of the park, you’ll hear the road traffic.
There’s no grass so it can get dusty
When the wind blows, put down your awning, it really sweeps through the park.
It’s more of a convenient destination, and I suspect most guests use it as an overnight stop, rather than a park to enjoy a week away from home.

A very back to basic park set on 30+ acres of bush land on the outskirts of Wilmington. Very peaceful and relaxing. It's not a bells and whistles Big 4 so don't expect a theme park. There's a basic playground, WiFi, cabins, powered and bush camping. Lots of safe area for kids to ride bikes and explore the "real" world. The park has been let go a bit over the years but the current owners are starting to get a few things done. Everything is a bit 70's but it is clean and it works. If you need a designer bathroom this is not your destination. I spend 10 minutes in the shower, so long as it is clean and hot, that's all you need. Don't burn wood from the bush land, BYO firewood. The owners are very mindful of the wildlife habitat in the area. I really enjoyed staying here. Very close to Alligator Gorge and not far from other area attractions. A great base for a back earth holiday. Not an ipad in sight. We spent 5 days here. Thanks Stefan

A lovely, mostly quiet, very clean camp-site, both powered and unpowered sites, plus cabins available. There is a nice camp kitchen, separate barbecue area, fire boxes if you feel a bit chilly, and laundry area. Loads of wildlife, a friendly guard dog, and the owner is lovely, and very amenable. Good for an overnight, or for longer stay for a few days. If pitching canvas, the ground can be a bit hard in places, so take a good mallet!

Glad you liked the park and its proximity to Alligator Gorge. Hope you got to see a spectacular sun set at Hancocks Lookout, the view from Mount Maria and experienced our township of Wilmington's other offerings. Our powered tent sites are a little softer after watering for tent pegs though still hard, the caravan sites can be very hard to install pegs (cordless hammer drill with a long bit) a good idea especially if the weather has been dry. Hope you have a great year and stay safe.

My family and I stayed in one of the cabins for 3 days, it has a absolutely beautiful picturesque surroundings I highly recommend staying here. My kids loved the free possum feeding every night, the playground gave them a chance to truly be kids and with the added surprise two pony’s.
The rice is great and the service is amazing. 10mins away from alligator gorge that is a must do hike. We will definitely be staying here again.

Needed a break on a long road trip. This was an average place, but it did the job. We stayed in a cabin and in these pandemic times I was not comfortable with the lack of cleanliness of it. I do not think the floor had been mopped for some time. Glad to have my own supply of disinfectant. Very basic, very old and in desperate need of some TLC. But if you need a bed flor the night it will do. A point to note - there is nothing beautiful about this place and it is not in a valley but wow not far down the road you get to drive through a magnificent valley on the way to Port Augusta.

Response from Stefan Wild, General Manager at Beautiful Valley Caravan Park

Thanks for your review, sorry it only just met your approval. The cabins should have been clean properly, especially proper mopping of floors which is mandatory after each cleaning. My humble apologies if this was not done properly and sad that you did not report this at the time as I would have supplied another cabin. Please report any problems at the time so people can attempt to rectify to your satisfaction. Pity you did not get to see the beauty of this Valley, the park, Wilmington or Alligator Gorge near by where you can see some amazing scenery and fossilized sea bed , but glad you enjoyed your drive over the Flinders Rangers.

Stayed at Beautiful Valley Caravan Park last night (Wilmington) - what a fantastic location, fabulous accommodating host and serenity. Wilmington is steeped in history, area just beautiful. Caravan park offers walks through a 38 acre of bush land, fabulous for the bird lovers and the like. It is also a pet friendly caravan park (on leash). Couldn't recommend more - owner/host great sense of humour. Thanks for the opportunity.

A great week spent at this caravan park. Lots to see and enjoy in the area.
The sheep in the park are characters, with one ewe deciding she would like a piece of toast right out of the toaster.
Thanks Stephan, you have a great park
Stay safe

Stayed 1 night in “Family” cabin, it was a 1 bedroom cabin with 4 bunks jammed in the living area. Was not cleaned properly, toilet & microwave, did have good hot water for shower & clean sheets, beds are small & aged. Caravan area has shady trees, nice setting. Better value elsewhere.
