The room was absolutely nasty, stained couch and chair. No towels or any soap left in the room, blinds broken. Open back door and garage unit was right there. I had to switch hotels because of the filth of the room- no place for anyone...More
I have been staying at the Sands for years. It's a great value for the money, especially during peak season. Rooms have been recently remodeled and are very comfortable. Right on the beach so no crossing the road to get to the water. All guest...More
There are a lot of reviews that mention renovations, but I don't think our room had ever been updated...ever. We walked in and the wall-length curtain was only hanging by half the rod. The sitting chairs were dirty, really dirty, so was the carpet. The...More
Lots of upgrades have been done. Friendly staff, they remember your name upon check in. Early check in so you can enjoy beach or pool if room is not ready..same upon check out. Close to John's pass, within walking distance. Grills available to cook out...More
Friendly staff and a great bargain right on the beach! The view is marvelous and the hotel is very close to everything including restaurants, bars and shopping. It is just a nine minute walk to John's Pass which has numerous restaurants and shopping opportunities.

Shell Island Preserve Park (about 20min away) has them and I believe the one time I've ever done that it was $45/day. TS is correct, it's a hefty/long walk from almost any hotel to the actual water.
Sunburst Inn in Indian Rocks Beach, right up the road, has umbrellas and lounge chairs you can use, on the beach, no extra charge for them. If they're booked solid you'll have to do an "early bird gets the worm" kind of thing but we've stayed there too.
