Small resort so never crowded. Staff extremely friendly and condos have been updated nicely. Parking directly under the building with reserved space for the unit. All units are two levels with full kitchen, washer/dryer, 2 bathrooms, dishwasher, etc. All units face the ocean; could not be happier with the whole week.

Hurricane House was originally a mom and pop cottage motel going back at least 70 years. About 25 years ago it was developed into a small timeshare resort managed by Hilton. We have been staying there (and now owning) for 65 years. This is a wonderful place to stay or to own. The timeshare prices are reasonable, and the maintenance fees are far less than it would cost to stay in a comparable 2 BR unit. And the ocean/gulf views are amazing. The staff is wonderful, they are like family. If you are looking for one of the best places to stay or own in Florida check out Hurricane House. You will love it.

We spent a fabulous week at Hurricane House Resort. The facilities are kept in excellent condition with the condos very clean as well as the pool and grounds. The upper units have a great view of the beach and ocean. It is a very peacefull resort. Don't know if that is still true at the high season. It wasn't crowded by the pool or the beach. The beach is quiet and clean with lots of shells for avid shellers. The kitchens are fully equipped. We had breakfast and lunch on the screened patio enjoying the ocean view. There is no restaurant on the premises so it is easier to eat those two meals in. The location of this resort is excellent close by to shopping and many excellent restaurants. Sanibel is a beautiful nature filled island. We take advantage of visiting it whenever it pops up with our timeshare exchange. Visit this lovely resort and you won't be sorry!

We were lucky to get three night at the HH. It is the week before Christmas. A bit windy and not super sunny but a wonderful time anyway. The condo is in a good location to get to all that is Sanibel and about 20 minutes from Captiva.
We had a bilevel 2 bedroom 2 bathroom condo. Both bedrooms and baths are upstairs.
The kitchen had everything we needed and had a great screened in porch on the main floor and another small porch off the master, both overlooking the beach. There is a designated parking spot for each unit. There are 2 hot tubs and a pool.
We would visit here again!

As previous reviews have stated, this is a small, serene property that is beautifully landscaped and is steps from the beach. The property is located on West Gulf Drive, near the historic Island Inn, which puts it in the top position for viewing sunsets on the island. There is minimal traffic adding to the peace and quiet. I had a lower unit and the view was great. Lower units have back staircases which lead to the pool area and beach. The problem with the lower unit is if you are underneath people who have no regard for others and make noise non-stop, like the family in unit 108 did over week 51. Property amenities include a nice little BBQ area between the buildings and one tennis court. There are two small hot tubs on either side of the pool, which were very nice. The units are clean but look a little old. First thing that I would upgrade are the beds, as the mattresses could be more comfortable.

My husband and I plus another couple booked Hurricane House for a week in August of this year. Bookings and prep information was fine, and we looked forward to being in lovely Sanibel for a relaxing week. It was easy to find Hurricane House, though you have to be watching for their sign. Each unit is assigned its own parking space underneath which is convenient in rainy weather. Our unit, #13, was on the lower level and though there was considerable foliage, had a decent view of the Gulf. Anyone booking here should request an upstairs room for better views and less noise from persons overhead. The unit is nicely appointed, with a full well-stocked (with appliances, papertowels, etc.) kitchen. Lighting is good, though some bulbs were burned out. It is a little tricky to figure out which switches work what lights, though. There is a large diningroom table which is extremely heavy and cannot really be moved. The matching chairs were also heavy, though convenient. Furniture and rugs, we found, were clean, though in need of replacement. Some worn spots noticeable on arms and legs of chairs. The master bedroom was comfortable with the small dressingroom and separate toilet/bathtub. However, there is a walkway outside that bedroom, separated by an open space, and people were often making a lot of noise as they went down that walkway on the way to their room. Noise was a factor in this stay, so if you don't mind kids and teenagers running around, fine for you. There is a staircase in the livingroom which goes to the second bedroom and its bathroom. The upstairs bedroom has two single beds and another balcony outside the sliders. People cannot walk directly past either bedrooms.Extra sheets and pillowcases were provided in the closets, though ours did not have full sets; however, the staff remedied that. The sofa in the livingroom converts to a bed.
Internet was good, and the staff was very pleasant and helpful, especially Debbie. A very nice outside patio looks out on the Gulf, and has a table, chairs, lounge chairs, and a small sink. Ceiling fans are in every room. Access to the beach was literally two minutes away. Bring beach shoes as there are many sharp shells on the beach and in the surf. The swimmingpool was small but functional, and there were quite a few deck chairs, umbrellas available. Entrance is by keycard. Hurricane House is located conveniently to the main street, Periwinkle Drive, where you will find many restaurants, food stores, shopping, and other activity centers, such as bike rentals. Bring books to read, suntan lotion, and plan to relax. We did enjoy the resort, though think it could use some "spiffing up." We used our Hilton HGVC bonus points for this week's stay, and consider it a good value for the points.

We own a timeshare in Sanibel and are also HGVC timeshare owners for over 15 years! Since we use our timeshare in Sanibel every year, we always look through our Hilton exchange and RCI to find an additional week. We’ve stayed at South Seas and Casa York and lives both but we always wanted to try the Hurricane House Resort but it was always booked!! This year it was finally available! Or so we thought!
With Hilton we can begin looking to book 9 months or later so when we checked on 11/9, a 2 BR unit was available and we immediately booked it and received confirmation!
A WEEK before we were to arrive we received a letter from Hurricane House advising us that they could not grant that reservation as the owner was now using it! Oh really? So an owner has a last minute change of plans and wants his unit back and just gets it with no recourse and it’s completely appropriate to do this with a weeks notice???
Although they claim they had tried us via phone the fact remains that this owner had chosen not to use their unit for that week and we subsequently booked it. The owner changed their mind and wanted to use it and Hurricane House allowed this to happen. They should be ashamed of themselves! This is not how you conduct business and this is surely not how you try to attract new business.
Thankfully HGVC was able to book us a unit at another location in Sanibel. But this was not where we wanted to stay and we were not happy with how this was handled.
It’s our understanding that the Hurricane House just went against their rules to keep one of their “owners” happy rather than keep to their rental agreement with us! This is flat out wrong! For this reason we no longer desire wanting to stay there! Shame on you Hurricane House! Hope your reputation takes a hit for this unfortunate decision on your part!

Well after eating almost everywhere else, I finally ate here. it looks expensive from the outside so at first I was a tad intimidated. So we went in and wow!the nicest looking restaurant I have ever seen from outside to the inside. We rung this cool old looking bell and the host sat us at a really cool corner table and laid down food and alcohol menus and scuttled off to the other tables, it was fairly busy.To my surprise the food ranged from 10 Buck's on up to 20 I thought it would be more pricy. So I had the 16 oz bone in ribeye with the house smashed taters, the lady had the legendary caramelized pastrami. The waiter said they cut steaks on site and boy could I tell PERFECTLY cooked and the most excellent house made steak sauce!the pastrami was just as good it had the homemade sweet ginger teriyaki glaze all over it,you got to eat this food its crazy good and the staff and atmosphere is a 10.I also took the 32 oz big boy carona beer and signed the bottle. We finished it off with the homemade ice cream what a blast thanks Batista's you guys rock

My family has stayed in this condo property every year for a long time. The resort is awesome, they keep it updated, and the property is beautiful. We always have unit #4 on the top floor, the view off the veranda from the master bedroom is amazing. Some of the best sunsets you will ever see! Sanibel is an awesome place to visit, and The Hurricane House is the only place I'd stay!
