Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Property's Favourite Review
A Beautiful Bed & Breakfast. This Victorian B&B welcomes you from the minute you drive up. The home is beautifully decorated in traditional Victorian style. Plus, being here during the holiday season, the decorations make you feel as if you are about to enter a gingerbread house. Inside the parlor area with a ceiling-high Christmas tree, surrounded by two Nutcracker soldiers, you are immersed in a Victorian atmosphere. Holly, ornaments and lights are on display throughout this downstairs area, warming the entire scene. Then you meet Marcus! He was our innkeeper for our four day stay and could not have been friendlier or more helpful. With a great smile, Marcus immediately made us feel at home. Giving us a brief tour of the kitchen, the coffee area and most importantly, where the freshly baked homemade cookies are kept, Marcus let’s you know immediately that you are welcome and that you made the right choice in booking The Cedar House Inn. Throughout our stay, whenever we needed something, Marcus was there. When we saw him for breakfast, he was genuine, conversational and warm. Also, there is a beautiful wrap around patio full of comfy chairs, lounges and candles. So relaxing with a cup of tea or glass of wine, offered in the beverage area. Speaking of those cookies….my, oh my! Chocolate chips, oatmeal, shredded coconut…all drizzled with a toffee/caramel. (If you are nice to Marcus, he may even give you the recipe!)…don’t tell anyone…shhh! Our room was just right. An enormous four-poster bed, bureau, chair and hot tub. Appointed nicely with photos and mirrors as well as a bed that was so comfortable. The Inn gets great reviews because it deserves them. We have B & B’d for many years and The Cedar House Inn is one of the best. So, book it and get ready to enjoy your visit to St. Augustine, knowing that after a busy day, you have a great home to return to and enjoy. Did I mention Marcus??!! Joel & Rosalie…Delray Beach (by way of Boston).

We have chosen to stay here 6 times over the last four years. Jonathan, the GM, has a gift in hospitality which shows up in his well trained staff and the exquisite choices prepared by the breakfast chef. There are ample shaded balconies with rocking chairs to relax and visit with friend while enjoying endless cookies, coffee, tea, and wine. We have also stayed at their sister b&b Casa de Solana which we also enjoy. This year we toured their newest addition right next to the Casa, the Victorian Inn. Terri and I stayed there 36 years ago when it was previously owned. We enjoyed one of the best breakfasts ever but the upgrades Jonathan has directed make it even more special now. You can't go wrong choosing any of these properties but the Cedar House is our favorite by far. Thank you to all the wonderful staff.

Cedar House Inn was wonderful! We stayed in the St. John’s suite, it was a great spacious room. Donna greeted us and got us all settled in. I loved the cokes and waters in the main house that were accessible 24 hours a day. The bed was comfortable. The location was fantastic! In the heart of everything!

Visited for Valentine’s Day for a 3 night stay. First, the wonderful, the staff consisted of Jonathan, Donna, and Marcus who we met on arrival with fresh baked cookies and gave us the tour of the Inn. They are some of the nicest people in an Inn I have ever encountered thus far. Location is perfect within walking distance of everything you need or want to see. Breakfast each morning was superb and presented nicely courtesy of Chef Mischa. Unfortunately, the room was very small and disappointing, a queen size uncomfortable bed with a bathroom that would not fit someone 6ft +, there was peeling paint on the wall, the sink was cracked and notably very old, the shower head was covered in calcium deposit so looking up while showering was disgusting. The top of the vanity sink had mold as did the wall, I will include pictures. Housekeeping was non existent, it was a towel drop off and trash emptied. Bed was not made or straightened up at all. Love the idea of a B&B but I won’t sacrifice the room’s condition for a good breakfast. I notified the Inn Keeper of my criticism of the room and no response as of yet. There are simple fixes for the room that apparently they choose to ignore. That’s a shame because they have so many other good things going on there. People want the whole package.

From the time we entered the inn we were treated like celebrities! Donna greeted us with a warm orientation and fresh baked cookies. We got to choose the table to eat breakfast at. We got spoiled with many complimentary amenities such as wine, sodas, and water. We stayed in the St. Augustine room. It was well appointed with a large 2 person jacuzzi, a huge bed, and a Victorian couch. We also had a private entrance from the wrap around porch. The wrap around porch has several rocking chairs, bistro tables, wicker furniture. The morning started out right with a gourmet 5 star breakfast of the Cedar House breakfast sandwiches and Berry puff pastries filled with mariscapone cream. Overall, the most incredible luxury experience I've had in my 30 years on this earth.

The property is lovely and convenient to the town. Easy walking distance to many sights. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Our room was pleasant and had every convenience you could need. Breakfast, however, was a bit disappointing. Usually we are blown away by breakfasts at B & B’s…however we both felt that the two meals we had were just average.
