This is a review from someone who has never stayed at this resort but has resort hopped:
Omg this place is GORGEOUS and I love the vibe. This is the resort to go to get Moana & Stitch merchandise. The restaurants are very nice, everything here is beautiful. Be prepared for metal detectors & possibly being searched when you leave. That was new.

I am a little late in sharing this review but we are planning another family trip to Disney in December of this year we are deciding on what resort to stay at. We stayed March 2019 at the Polynesian Club Level handicap room with roll in shower. This was our second stay in Club Level at this resort. The second stay was not near as nice as the first. As soon as we walked into our room I could smell the strong odor of dog urine. I immediately went to the concierge desk and reported it. They sent someone to our room who was carrying a spray bottle. I said I did not believe spraying an air freshener would help as we could clearly smell dog urine. I was told that sometimes the first floor rooms have an odor due to the humidity in FL. Something to do with the carpets. I have asthma and knew I needed to have a room urine smelling free. They moved us to another room on the second floor that smelled much better. However it was not handicap accessible so it made the rest of the trip more difficult going in and out of the room and also bathing our handicap son. Being on the second floor we also lost having a patio or balcony. The air conditioning was not working correctly and during the night my husband would have to get up and reset it to kick back in and cool the room.
As far as the resort itself, it is lovely. We enjoyed being able to use the monorail and the ability to walk to the transportation center was a plus at certain times of the day. The club level offered tasty snacks and desserts. It was also handy to grab a quick breakfast before heading into the parks for the day. Having someone in a wheelchair we are always looking for ways to make the day easier on us as caregivers. I am not sure if I would recommend the club level due to the dog smelling room. Perhaps if they replace the carpet.

Magic is in the air at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort! As you approach the lobby, the tropical atmosphere is so welcoming. When you step inside, you are greeted by our friendly Cast Members and oftentimes you are presented with your very own flower lei! You don't have to look far to find relaxation and happiness - it comes to you! I have no doubt that this is what lead you to book this encore stay, and I am so sorry to hear there were so many bumps in the road. I know firsthand how good it feels when you finally arrive at your room. I can imagine how disappointing it was to discover the room you needed was not going to work out. A lot goes into planning a vacation that is suitable for your family, and we never want our Guests to have to compromise their perfect vacation because the condition of the room is unsuitable. You made the right choice by bringing this to the attention of our Cast Members. While I'm glad they were able to place you in a different room, I am sorry that the differences took away from the experience you had planned for your family. Thank you so much for the feedback you shared in your review. I hope you will return again soon for a more magical experience. Anna Disney Social Reviews

Our 5th visit to Disney we decided to try out the Polynesian. We were only staying for 2 nights, but were excited as we were celebrating our anniversary. When we checked in, we had brought a special bottle of wine and requested it was chilled and if we could get 2 wine glasses as well. The staff upon check in wasn’t sure if they could accommodate but told us to check it with the valet to be refrigerated until our room was ready. We headed to the parks while we waited for a room - expecting to have one by 3pm. We were disappointed it wasn’t ready until 3:30 and upon entering the room realized we did not have a balcony as none on the 2nd floor rooms have balconies. What may seem trivial to some, we paid the exact same amount as someone who was placed in the 1 or 3 floor rooms. We also have little kids and enjoy the opportunity to have a drink and chat away from sleeping children. For a deluxe resort, we expected there would be a balcony. Our wine was chilled but we never received wine glasses either. Otherwise, the rooms were clean and updated. They had cute outdoor activities for the kids at night and we enjoyed ourselves despite a frustrating check in process.

Aloha! Thanks so much for escaping to paradise with us at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort! I'm so sorry to hear of the disappointments you mention with your room not having a balcony; however, I'm glad that your overall visit was an enjoyable one. For any future visits, I highly recommend that you speak with the Cast Members at your Front Desk about any issues as they are ready and willing to help resolve any challenges. We always want our Guests to enjoy their stay from start to finish and our Cast at the Resort can immediately work with you to address any needs you may have! Additionally, you're welcome to make room requests by calling our Disney Reservation Center and while requests can't ever be guaranteed, our Cast are happy to make a note on your reservation and see what can be done. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us. We hope to welcome you back to the island life again soon! Nina Disney Social Reviews

First of all, my family absolutely loves Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruises, etc. We always stay on property and the Polynesian was very disappointing. They appear to be very short staffed. The day we arrived, we did online check in. At the entrance we were informed to park and bring our bags in. I couldn’t tell if there was any sort of bell service and none was offered, which is unusual for a deluxe resort. We were a hot sweaty mess bringing our bags and young kids from the parking lot to our rooms. Then, our magic bands and our Disney app didn’t work to open our hotel room, despite the online check in being complete and despite receiving info that the rom was ready. Thankfully a housekeeping supervisor was nearby and let us into our room. She also advised us to call the front desk and everything would be fixed. We tried calling from the room phone but the phone didn’t work. We went to the front desk and waited in line for almost an hour. Only two people were working the front desk on a Saturday afternoon. The line was long and we were about to miss our dining reservation so we got out of line. Later that night we were able to get our room access issues sorted at the front desk.
We saw numerous overflowing garbages on property-which is very un-Disney like. Housekeeping is really at a minimum. Housekeeping came to our room every other day-ish and only emptied trash and brought more towels. Definitely not what I would expect for a resort of this caliber. Other times we had to go to the front desk to request towels be brought up because the phone was never fixed during our stay.
The pools are great, we enjoyed the location even with the monorail stop being under construction and the outdoor grounds are beautiful. I was so excited to stay here and it was all extremely disappointing for the money. I know a lot of places are understaffed right now but Disney shouldn’t charge so much for low level of service.

Thank you for taking the time to share some feedback from your recent visit to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. I'm very sorry for the concerns with the level of service you received during your stay. We strive to create a welcoming and carefree environment for all of our Guests, and I am very sorry that this holiday did not reflect our Disney best. I understand that when you check into a Walt Disney World Resort you expect an exceptional level of service that allows you to have a smooth and relaxing vacation. It's disheartening that our Bell Services team was not there to greet you and handle your luggage and our Housekeeping team did not provide the level of service you anticipated. You can rest assured that I will be sharing your feedback with all the appropriate areas. Providing a magical experience is paramount, and we want to ensure our standards are always upheld. Thank you again and I truly hope you will give us another opportunity to welcome you again in the future. Betty Disney Social Reviews

Just got back after a 5 night stay. I knew there would be construction and that the monorail wasn't running, but honestly that was the least of it.
This resort is expensive and is supposed to be one of the more luxurious places to stay in Disney. There is no luxury. The aesthetics are pleasing, but I've had better service at a 3 star motel.
I have 2 little kids and by the 5th day, my room was a sticky, crumby mess. Housekeeping came 1 time and gave us new towels. That was it. I was trying to wipe down the table and clean the floors with wet bath rags. If they're not going to clean for you, they could say least provide a dustbuster or something. It was gross.
There's a small wastebasket in the room and when it's full, you throw your trash in the hallway. Dirty diapers and all. I've read some reviews recommended bringing your own trash bag because the ones on the room are super thin and smaller than a plastic grocery bag.
There was no help taking our luggage to our room on the other side of the resort.
There is no room service, so if you order food (which is limited to mostly burgers and the like) you have to go pick up yourself.
I realize that for some things we need to adjust our post-Covid expectations. But Disney is using it as an excuse to cut operating costs while continuing to increase prices.

We were only staying for one night to try the Spirit of Aloha dinner and the new Star Wars ride. We were hoping to get to the hotel early to enjoy as much of it as possible since it was only one night. We set a time on our check-in for 9am, but since check-in is not until 3pm, we figured we probably would not get a room and headed to a park and waited for a text to let us know when the room was going to be ready. By 3pm, we had not received a text, but headed to the hotel anyways. It was not until 4pm when we reached the hotel parking lot and finally got a text that our room was ready. Now the next disappointment, we were booked on a accessibility room that we did not need or requested. Every time we opened the door, it will automatically get wide open and not close for a few minutes. We had to force it shut every time. There was no privacy, the room was right across from the building entrance and anyone walking on the very busy path could look all the way in. On the other side, the sliding doors faced the deck right by the main building, so we could not open the curtains either. Since the shower was designed for accessibility, taking a shower got the entire bathroom wet. This might be a good room for someone in a wheelchair, but how dare they book it for someone who doesn't need/want it for over $600 a night. On top of that the walls were very scratched, maybe from wheelchairs, the carpet was disgusting to the point the design was faded, there was a huge stain on the night table, and the wall paper was coming off the wall. Everything look dated. When I walk into a room of a deluxe hotel I expect to say "wow this is nice", not "what in the world is this motel". This was a sacrifice for me to stay at this hotel just to be disappointed with Disney once again. I wish they would put the same level of effort in the rooms they put on the hotel grounds to lure us in. I went to the front desk and expressed my concerns and I appreciate the manager was nice and gave us a partial credit, but still I don't think it was not enough. Overall, it was the worst waste of money weekend we spent at Disney.

Thank you for taking the time to share your honest impressions of your stay at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. While I'm glad the Resort was able to provide you some consideration for these concerns, I'm truly sorry for your continued disappointment during your stay, even after speaking with the Front Desk. In the future, you may consider making a specific room request during your booking. Though we cannot guarantee our ability to honor all room requests, a request can be helpful in ensuring you get the amenities you want (or don't want) in your room. Though this short visit left you with disappointments, I am hopeful you will return soon for a much more magical stay. Katie Disney Social Reviews

Excellent place to stay with extended family. My only complaint is the resort is priced way too high but then all the Disney properties fit that description. We stayed in the Hawaii Building which I think is the nicest of the buildings. It is the only one with a concierge room. The room is open from early morning to late at night and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner included with your room. Alcohol is included all day. There are multiple pools and restaurants in the Resort all of which are worth trying. Check-in is in the Great Ceremonial House and there are a number of restaurants bars and gift shops here also. The monorail to The Magic Kingdom boards at the front of the House. We had a nice stay but I wouldn't stay here again simply because of the extravagent cost.

Not worth staying at this resort for $600 plus dollars per night. No housekeeping services. You feel like you are staying at a motel because you have to call for tools and other things. You take your own garbage out because they do not do this daily. Extremely limited food selections from the restaurants. Captain Cooks counter service restaurant is extremely small with very very limited selections. The Art of Animation resort has a fantastic food court with great selections! No playground equipment for the kids. Some buildings with no elevators.
This is a resort for you if you want easy access to MK and Epcot, sushi, limited food choices causing children to basically eat the same items daily, and easy access to Dole Whips,
The newly refurbished rooms are attractive, resort grounds and pool areas are well designed and well kept.
I realize that this resort gets great reviews, I just feel it is not at all worth staying here at $600 plus per night for what you receive. You get much more quality and amenities at 5 star hotels for this cost. I found you get much more for one third the cost at the Art of Animation!
Cast members were fantastic, except for a morning manager at the check-in desks. He wore a green shirt and was older. I found him quite demeaning and rude when I was trying to ask for help regarding Genie+.

We've previously stayed in Disney Springs hotels, the Shades of Green, and the Art of Animation resorts. This trip, we had our 2 year old with us and I'm expecting, so we thought we'd see if it was worth staying directly on the monorail. The property itself is pretty-we've noticed this walking through when staying at the SOG. The food, especially Kona cafe, is great and we've come multiple times on other trips just to eat there. The staff is top-notch. They go above and beyond to make sure you have what you need. However, the rooms themselves are standard at best. They are dark, the beds are uncomfortable and the bathrooms have an odd setup. It's small things that would irk me if I was staying for longer than 4 days, like no hook to hang a shower towel on so you have to get out to reach your towel. And a frosted glass insert in majority space of the bathroom door (so you can see the outline of whatever is going on in the bathroom and it also takes up any space for another hook on the door, which would help for hanging a towel or clothes). We sent pictures to family of our toddler playing in the room, and they asked where we were staying because it looked like a Holiday Inn room. The trip to and from MK was convenient and you can see the fireworks from this resort, but it's not worth it for the overall Disney feel and value.

Jamie, thank you for this honest review of your island escape to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Though it’s lovely our Cast Members and dining options were positive aspects of your retreat, I’m sorry to learn our Resort rooms were not the right fit for your family’s needs. We take our Guests’ feedback to heart, as it is from honest observations such as yours that we learn where we may want to improve our offerings. Having the Monorail just outside is a huge plus, but that doesn’t mean the Polynesian is the best spot for everyone, which is totally okay! The beauty of our Resorts is that they are as numerous as they are magical, so you’re sure to find the best one for you. I can’t wait to read all about it! Emma Disney Social Reviews

The Poly is as lovely as I hoped it would be (and should be for the price). The layout is great, nice pools, lots going on but not too hectic. And it was a perfect last night watching HEA from the beach and then getting in the hot tub. However I feel the club level room and food let's it down a bit
This was the 5th Disney resort I stayed at this trip and by comparison with the updated rooms at AKL the rooms are a bit dated and the air con unit was very loud. They need more usbs etc. The bathroom is massive but the 2 sinks are inside so it takes a while for everyone to get ready. I had requested a balcony but again didn't get my room requested. I think its strange that the whole 2nd floor of the club rooms have no balcony and when you pay £550 a night you want to make the most of your room. It was a beautiful room though and even with 5 of us didn't feel cramped at all.Â
I found the food offerings in the lounge were limited compared to other Lounges I've seen at Disney. The vegan options were almost non existent and when I asked for something I was just made a standard salad. As Disney is adding more plant-based options I'd have expected something a bit more exciting. I also understand why they dont put beer in the fridge during the day but every time you asked for one I felt a bit like a child asking my grandma for permission! The servers in the lounge were lovely though.
I definitely want to stay here again but think if I do club I will stay at AKL or yacht instead.

Thank you for sharing your candid thoughts about Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, Charlotte. It brings a smile to my face knowing you had such a magical visit, and had the chance to experience the nighttime spectacular from the comfort of your Resort! However, I'm sincerely sorry for the frustrations you came across with the room requests, as well as the dining options available. For your future stays, please keep in mind that while we happily take room requests, they may not always be available for each and every Guest. However, please know our Cast are always working hard to accommodate each individual as best they can. Regardless, I'm happy to know these couple downsides weren't enough to steer you away from another tropical getaway, and we can't wait to have you back again real soon. Pete Disney Social Reviews
