First Disney trip. Last Disney trip. We were misdirected to our room 3 separate times (while pushing a loaded bell cart). Room was clean and neat but a bit small for the price. We did enjoy the balcony. You are not allowed to have children on your shoulders while in the pool. Pool loungers fill up fast! Boat ride to Magic Kingdom was fun. Bus ride to Animal Kingdom - not so much. We had to wait over 1.5 hours in the pouring rain for a bus due to mechanical issues. The resort never sent another bus for us. Buses are overcrowded. Children were made to stand in the aisles (along with adults) and had to hold on to railings. We felt like herded cattle pretty much everywhere we went. Breakfast is available for additional cost. But you MUSTY wear your mask, You are NOT allowed to view the food on the hot bar. You must order food from the Disney app. Enjoy your trip.

Staying with my two children at the Wilderness Lodge for 6 days/7 nights. Room is clean, nice nature view room. Lodge is pretty, rustic feel. I’m struggling with the food options here. Now as a comparison we stayed at Yacht club back in April. I have a two year old and thirteen year old. We don’t always feel like sitting for dinner and we need options to meet everyone’s needs. If you like BBQ then this is the place for you. Every restaurant has that as an option with not many other choices. Little kids want pizza and grilled cheese. Not available. I asked if in lieu of sitting down at Whispering Canyon could I please take the NY strip to go. I was met with “we don’t do that here”. So much for accommodating a single mom with two kids. Now at Yacht they had plenty of options, we even did room service one evening. As much as I like the ambiance of Wilderness the food will likely be a deal breaker in future bookings. Would be 4 or 5 stars if the food wasn’t so blah.

The Wilderness Lodge is stunning. It reminds me of the historic Glacier National Park lodge in Montana. The lobby is welcoming and on point for the motif. The artwork outside Artist's Point shouldn't be missed. I struggled to write this review, honestly. It's a beautiful resort with nice grounds especially if you want to walk around outside. Oh, and there was a staff member guarding a fledgling songbird and nest that had been knocked out of the tree by a storm that swept through. Kudos to her, and lucky for her, I am a wildlife scientist so could assist with what she needed to do. But kudos to her for going out and standing by the bird and nest so no one would accidentally step on it. When we checked in (queens, courtyard view), some things we noticed on the newly refurbished rooms: The beds are tall. If you are under about 5'4", you will struggle to get into them. I appreciate the hard surface floors as they are easier to clean. The pump shampoo, conditioner, and body wash was appreciated to reduce plastic waste (small bottles.) The geode-like light is a nice touch, and I appreciated the steamer. Now the not-so-good: The rooms were very recently refurbished, but the cleanliness was greatly lacking especially with a spike in COVID-19 cases. Dust was on everything (I wiped dust from the headboard, on top of the lights, tv stand.) We found gobs of hair and dirt on the bathroom floor. It looked like someone had cleaned out a hairbrush and scattered it. There was hair in the shower. The back of the bathroom door had handprints and makeup all over it. We immediately went down to the front desk and showed pictures/provided baggie with hair and dirt in it. Immediately our concerns were addressed. I felt bad. I told the manager on duty, "this isn't Disney." She changed us to a new room and credited our account for a bit. We just wanted a room change so the credit was nice. Our new room was cleaner this time. The end of the hall we were able to open the shutters on the hall window and see the entire fireworks display at the Magic Kingdom. The electric parade on the lake is a nice touch afterwards. People seemed confused by it as they went out on their balcony wondering what the music was (especially if they didn't have a view of the lake.) On day 3, we had to call housekeeping and ask for washcloths. There are reduced housekeeping measures due to COVID. I believe I read online that they vacuum, swap out towels and washcloths, and empty trash for housekeeping measures. I am sure if you stay longer, there is more that is done. If I based whether or not I would return to the Lodge based on front desk service (oh! And Lucille at Roaring Fork! Love her! She is one hard worker and on the ball.) I would say we would absolutely return. But I don't feel as though the room quality (towel and linen quality especially) matched its $480/night price though, it is Disney.

The hotel is a bit of a take off of the Old Faithful Lodge. Rooms are OK. If you pay extra for the fireworks view you actually see the smoke house parking lot and the castle in the distance. Pools are nice. My complaint is with the food offerings. The restaurants have a lot of barbecue and not much else. Because of the pandemic it is best to use their app and order breakfast and or lunch. Very limited menus. It seemed like it took took too much time to get food. Prices were high and quality of food well below expectations. After waiting 20 minutes for GF waffles they were raw and had to be remade which took another 20 minutes. I would not stay here again.

We took a week long family trip here in July. Overall the lodge is a really nice hotel. The rooms are quality theme furnished though on the small side. We could see the magic kingdom and the monorail from our little deck and were able to watch the fireworks at a distance a couple of times. The pool has a fun slide and was busy but not too crowded. The boat to magic kingdom was very convenient. Your wait was never very long. Now we thought we’d come back to our room midday to rest but although the place is close - its still long enough we never left the parks until closing time. Bus transport to other parks was good though. Getting home on the bus was fine. Only had to really wait at hollywood studios. My only two negative things are the every other day limited room cleaning which was weak. Post covid hotels have really gotten cheap about cleaning rooms. Second, the restaurants are ok but limited. We ate at 3 out of 4. (Didn’t do the expensive one). We didn’t care for the skillet breakfast place. Would prefer more basic breakfast options than gimmicks. The geyser point menu was really heavy on portobello salads for some reason. The carry out place was decent but a lot of the stuff was pre-made - think airport kiosk type sandwiches. Also the refillable cups only work in resort hotels not the parks. I’ve seen blogs/reviews which say otherwise. You can’t get refills for the cups in the parks.
