Conveniently located close to Universal Studios. We were able to walk to the park entrance within 20 minutes at a casual pace. Some people passed us in a hurry and likely made it in 15 minutes. In the evening the path is not well lit, so we opted to lyft it back for around $7 for a quick 5 minute ride. Ride share picks up on the upper level of the parking garage. Walking the other direction takes you to the outlet mall, also about 15-20 minutes. We had a standard room. The rooms were clean and spacious, and did not smell of smoke. There was the odd really tiny crawly bug in the bathroom, that was about it so I wasn’t concerned. The shower worked well and the towels were good quality. Having the fridge, microwave and kitchenware was great for breakfasts. To get 5 stars they would need to provide, dishwasher detergent, more utensils, dish towels and clean out all the garbages regularly. The staff was helpful and nice. On leaving we had to wait in the lobby for quite a while due to the timing of our flight, it was comfortable with couches and iced water was refreshing. TGIF food was pretty good, we ate there for dinner. I would recommend this hotel for a decent price close to the park.

We stayed here prior to checking into a Universal property. The hotel is conveniently located 5 minutes from the Universal hotels. The hotel is worn but clean and for our short stay was adequate. There really was nothing remarkable about it. We had a suite with two connecting bed/baths. The bathrooms were very tight, dated and required updating. The upside is that the sink was separate from the toilet and shower so someone could be bathing while another brushed teeth or got ready for the day. The beds were comfortable.
At the time of our stay there was no food service onsite but the hotel had an arrangement with the restaurant next door for breakfast, for a small fee per person. We did not take advantage of this. There are several restaurants in the areas so we opted for Door Dash.

The Holiday Inn and Suites Universal was a reasonably priced, clean hotel. We arrived before noon and room was ready. Ariel, at the front desk, was friendly and helpful. By walking to Universal (which only took 10 or 15 minutes) saved us the time driving and parking fee.

I am trying to figure out how to not be slanderous in my review of this property . So I'll just state my observations. I know this is the Covid era but the rooms could be vacuumed after the last guest checked out. The bath room floors could be mopped after the last guests checked out. The ketchup could be wiped off the bathroom doors after the last guests checked out. All this can be done using Social distancing . The light fixture that caught fire on the 4th floor on 7/20. Yup needed a fire extinguisher to put a little icing on this piece of 💩. Holiday Inn and IHG should be ashamed. It's convenient to the park and it should be something corporate should be proud of . Well maybe they will vacuum the hallway to clean up the fire extinguisher dust . Oh the front staff was nice .

Hello retired4541 Thanks for sharing feedback, it's great to hear from one of our guests. I am sorry to hear that your stay did not go as planned. I am sorry that the overall upkeep of the room fell short of your expectations. I am also sorry about the fire incident during your stay. I have looped our team. I trust that they won't take these lightly and that they'll strive to fix their areas of opportunity. Comments such as yours are important and relayed to the team to help point out areas that need additional attention. In line with this, do know that a private message was sent to further reach out to you. Despite the setbacks mentioned on your review, I hope you find your way back to us should your travels bring you again to the area for a chance to make your stay better than the last. Best, Ronald R. There is a reason the rates are so low! You get exactly what you pay for. There are rips in the couch, chips of paint missing on the window sill, trash in the hallways, grimy mold on the bathroom door hinges, dust on basically every piece of furniture... on top of that the bathroom literally sounded like it was trying to flush the entire evening, even though the water in the bowl was still and the handle was up. It was so annoying but at least you couldn’t hear it if you shut the bathroom door.

The pro of this hotel is that the rooms are VERY spacious and large. Tons of space to move around in the standard king room. A couch, a desk, a coffee table, and also an arm chair and foot rest in addition to the bed, dresser, and end tables. It’s also very helpful that the lamps on the tables have an outlet right at the base so you don’t have to fumble around on the wall. Also, there is a safe, fridge, small microwave, and coffee maker! Additionally, there is TONS of parking BUT they do charge you $17 a night for it.

The pet charge is listed online as $75 but was only $50 on our bill. There is a small dog park in the back which was super nice for us but the grass was so tall and thick that it was hard to move around in for both myself and my dog.

Tiffeney was nice at the front desk but not in any type of uniform so that was a bit confusing at first. We asked for a view of the back parking lot if possible (to watch our car and Uhaul) and she said “okay”. We got up to our room (from the elevator that had pieces of wood missing all over the floor), and it was facing the complete opposite side of the property. Oh well, not the biggest deal. She was extremely polite throughout our whole interaction! There is a bucket of clean pens to use and a second bucket to put after it’s been touched, so that’s helpful for COVID.

Definitely won’t be back to this hotel.

Hi mismelissamarie, I'm glad you chose our hotel for your visit to Orlando. Thank you for staying. Holiday Inn hotels offer an inviting, familiar atmosphere where guests can relax and enjoy themselves. I'm sorry you felt the state of our hotel needs to be modernized, especially with the couch, window sill, and bathroom flush. I also read your comments about the cleanliness of the hallways, bathroom door hinges, and furniture surfaces. Trust that I had our Housekeeping Supervisor and General Manager alerted about this, and I'm sure they'll take the necessary steps to make sure the issues you raised are resolved immediately. On the bright side, I'm glad you were happy with the room space, bedroom lamps, safe, fridge, small microwave, coffee maker, parking, pet charge, and front desk staff Tiffeney. We appreciate your feedback about your stay and looking forward to your next travel. Many Thanks, Rein D Case Manager IHGService

We booked this place because of the great location and the price. I was expecting the hotel to be subpar because the price was so low considering it’s within walking distance of Universal Studios. However, upon arriving we were greeted warmly and given appropriate accommodations for Covid-19. The lobby is equipped with plastic sneeze guards and they offer sanitized pens for you to sign with.

When we got into the room, it unfortunately smelled a bit like smoke. So, we went to ask if we could have another room. The gentleman at guest services apologized, and upgraded us to a suite with no charge! The new room was sparkling clean and smelled very fresh. This is definitely a place we will be booking again in the future.

I have stayed here well over a dozen times as it is conveniently located across the street from Universal and it just keeps going downhill. The elevators are in need of repair. Our room smelled like pee. The shower did not drain. Housekeeping took the washcloths we used and kept not replacing them, so we kept having to go to the front desk to ask for some.

Dear vtkaczyk, Thank you for taking the time to write about your experiences with us. The hotel just went through a Management and Ownership change the last week of January. I can fully understand your frustrations with your experiences. Many of the items that you mentioned are at the top of our list as well. I do hope that you give us another chance to see how we react to the feedback our guests give us and implement change as a result. Please reach out to me if you stay with us again so that I may make sure that your stay is great! Yours in Hospitality, Claudine Binz General Manager

We stayed here for 3 nights while we were going to be at Universal. The location is great as the park is right across the road. It is a busy roadway but there was still crosswalks and sidewalks. The walk was only 15 min or they also provided a shuttle multiple times per day to and from the park. You do have to reserve it the day before which makes sense but we had no problems reserving it. There is a desk next to the shuttle reserve station that has a representative to sign you up for some "free" things if you just listen to their presentation. We already knew this from other reviews and just kindly let them know we weren't interested and they left us alone. The shuttle reserve station was also nice because they can help with other issues related to the park since they are employed by Universal. The front desk was friendly, as were many of the other staff. The housekeepers weren't super friendly but kept our room very clean and provided extra towels as needed. The pool area was super nice! Very impressed with it for sure! The TGIFridays attached to the hotel was convenient but kinda dirty. Food was good but service was horrible. I don't feel this was the hotel's fault and there are multiple places close by to eat. We highly recommend Millers Ale House which is about a block away walking distance! Great wings and food and atmosphere! Overall, we definitely recommend and will stay here again as you cant beat the price!

Most people reviewed great seem to be on suite/larger room.
I had a standard double bed room. So my review is for standard room.

1. Room smell : we had to call room service multiple times and they offered just air spray into AC n carpet. Still moist/ pungent smell prevailed
2. Rooms are aging...bad carpet n comforters
3. Breakfast: Holiday Inn is supposed to be good for families. $14.99 Tfi Fridays breakfast was low quality. Could have very much well stayed in Holiday Inn express for free breakfast.
4. Others writing on convenience for Universal park... Questionable. For Xmas week parks open at 8am. The first bus comes in at 8am n by the time we get to park entrance it's 8.25, with crowd it was already late. We realize Uber rides were $10 each way not just for this hotel, but as well to other hotels in Intl Drive. This was neither walkable to Universal nor worth Uber cost for across the street.

All reasons avoid this location if you are visiting with families in December peek season

No there is nothing in the suite. We purchased some from the factory outlets a short walk away. Also there is a restaurant attached to it for short term till you get some.
