The hotel is in a great location, walking distance to the beach and 5th Avenue shopping/dining. They offer a beach set up which is a very nice touch. Continental breakfast is good but very basic. We can’t say enough good things about the staff, as they were very good and helpful. We booked late in the high season (January) and as a result probably had the least desirable room.
The courtyard is beautiful and all rooms open to it, but the courtyard doubles as a very busy restaurant at night. To access your room (or any room) you must walk thru the courtyard and the diners. The tables are outside your room and dining and drinking continues until around 10-10:30. When booking a room, the hotel needs to disclose that your room is going to be literally inside a very busy and loud restaurant. It’s really awkward to walk around the diners as well, but that is the only way to access your rooms.
Our French doors opened to the courtyard and were also the only source of daylight, but the shutters had to be kept shut due to facing the public areas (courtyard). More private rooms are available, just be sure and ask before booking.
Our room was small and had no storage, which is normally not a big deal but we stayed a week.
For us, we liked the location but for the price ($645 a night), the room we stayed in and the awkwardness and noise of the restaurant are not worth it.
It’s not a suite with a bedroom at approx. 234 sq.ft.
Small room, small TV
100 year old mattress with a deep depression in it. You can see my knee depressing the mattress in the attached photos.
No chair or place to sit in the room.
No room service after 12AM.
Killer for us was that there is no Wi-Fi in the room.
We work when we travel and the inability to get on Wi-Fi was a black experience for us.
We complained to the reception but they had no clue of what to do and or didn’t care.
Clearly they need WiFi relay points in the rooms but don’t spend the money for them.
The property is very European and nice to look at.
The staff very nice
But
No Wi-Fi, a small room and mattress that should have been changed years ago with a big dip in it would eliminate us from ever staying here again.
We would stay at the Hotel on 5th next time or stay at one of the larger hotels off of 5th and drive in and park near 5th.
The ambiance is fabulous and the service is divine. If you are looking for a quiet respite in the heart of Naples, the Escalante is where you want to be.
It was a pampered experience highlighted by the beach set ups—lounges, towels, table, bucket full of ice and water, and umbrella. As everyone says, the restaurant, Veranda E, is romantic with excellent food and service. The cold crab corn soup was my favorite—light and flavorful. The hotel rooms are small but very clean and adequate. The restaurant is open to hotel guests only for continental breakfast and afternoon happy hour.
