i’ve been coming to the edgewater since i was about 8 years old and every time it is an absolute delight! this time however, a few people made our trip EVEN more special. joe took care of my friend and i immediately upon arriving on the beach and has been so sweet and such a pleasure to be around! duvell has been the best safety guard and super fun to talk to! lastly, nate was very attentive with our beach drinks orders all day and was so nice to talk to all afternoon! blown away by my stay here as usual
Me and my best friend came to the edgewater to get a great beach trip, and Joe helped us do jusy that. He’s the best. So is jamie. But joe goes above and beyond for us. We love him. He is so respectful and nice!
We rented a two-bedroom premium suite for a week. It is beach front on the fourth floor, so it has the best view of all of the hotel's rooms. The room is huge—what it is, is two one-bedroom suites with a connecting door between them. It might not be the very largest suite we have ever rented, but it is at least close. We were very pleased with the room. The beach is also quite lovely. There are two full size refrigerators with ice makers. Two 2-burner cook tops. And two microwaves. Families could easily make microwave style dinners. This was our first visit to Naples. We loved it. We travel to eat and found the restaurant choices in Naples fabulous. And although the rest of my review might sound negative, we were overall very pleased and look forward to our next visit. An admittedly more common complaint we are having are service gaffes. Just for fun, I am going to start with one that will probably surprise management (who after all complains about a gift?). They brought by a complimentary bottle of “Champaign?” How could I possibly complain about that? Here is how. It was delivered to the room un-chilled, and without a Champaign Bucket or ice, left unceremoniously sitting on the counter. A quite lovely presentation. While it had a label that said “Brut." It was at best a sparkling demi-sec. To be candid, it was nauseating. Notwithstanding being undrinkable, it did have an amusing aspect. It was, in my 65-years, the first screw-top “Champaign" that I have ever had the pleasure of unscrewing. May I suggest that if management wants to welcome guests with a Champaign gift, do not deliver swill served in the fashion of an Econo Lodge free breakfast. It becomes a negative not a positive. On a more serious note, the hotel charges a “Resort Fee.” Resort fees, as most experienced travelers know, are a virus that has infected the hotel industry. Since this is not a legal discussion board, I will refrain from an analysis of consumer protection law that I believe applies to the Resort Fee Virus. However, in my view, Edgewater Beach Hotel took it to an entirely new level. Most hotels infected with the Resort Fee Virus try to self-justify it by reciting a list of standard hotel amenities that are “provided by" the resort fee. Edgewater Beach follows the standard template. One amenity that they list as provided by the Resort Fee is turndown service. When turndown had not been provided the first two days, we called to inquire. We were told that they do not do turndown service. Odd thing happened the day after we were told that they do not do turndown service. We got a text asking that we rate the hotel. I replied that there had been some disappointments. A few hours later a young woman called to ask about the disappointments. I mentioned turndown service and this time we were told that it is only done on request. She offered to provided it beginning that night. I pointed out that it was 4:30 pm and housekeeping had just serviced our room. I do not think she got the point of turndown service. One staff member says they do not do turndown, and another staff member tells us they do it on request. I guess they do it if you request it from enough staff members. Attention management, promised hotel services should not have to be requested. After the second discussion with management about turndown service, it was provided for the next four days—but not our last day. And basic morning housekeeping sometimes started happening in the morning and not the late afternoon. Although we never got one single promised newspaper delivered. As many reviewers have noted, this is unquestionably a family resort. It is swarming with kids—at least this time of year. That might be a negative if you are a beachy or pool fan who appreciates an adult environment. It was irrelevant to us because we do not lay on lounge chairs in the sun. We are very content sitting on the balcony watching the gulf and the beach activities from afar—hence why we rented the room we did. One atta boy I like to note is No Minibar. I hate hotels who rent me a room and then steal a part of it for a sales display. In conclusion, despite my complaints, we were basically satisfied and we plan to return at some date. Although we will look at both six- and seven-day stays. It seems some offers do not show up with seven-day stays. They only show up for stays of six days or less. My wife noticed this right before we came down. Left us with the uncomfortable feeling that we might have overpaid. How did I come up with my three-dot rating? 3/5>4/7. 3 dots out of 5 is mathematically greater than 4 nights of turndown service out of a 7-night stay. So, my rating was generous. In closing, I will give kudos to Verijet and their little Vision Jets. This was our third trip using their services. For little hops down to Florida, and the southeast in general it was made for us. Pull up to the FBO, hand your keys to the valet, and hop on the jet—no waiting around the airport, no security lines, no elbowing your way on to the plane. Land, get out of the jet and into your limo, and presto, you are at your hotel. (Also the flights are a lot of fun.) If you have ever thought about flying private, I recommend that you look at Verijet.…
This Resort does it all. All Departments are outstanding. From the moment we arrived, Paige and the entire Front Desk staff greeted us. Our bags were brought to the room promptly. Our room was spotless, spacious, and a fantastic view overlooking the Gulf. We were able to get right to the private beach and Joe set us up with chairs, towels, and an umbrella. We stayed for 6 days and cannot wait to return. This Resort gives you the 5 star service and quality, but small enough where all team members remember you on a first name basis.
As always, excellent trip. Allen is such a wonderful employee in making us feel safe and relaxed during this pandemic and Ani went out of her way during our getaway. Thank you so much for making my birthday a memorable one!
