As a female solo traveler, I personally feel safer in an Uber than a Taxi. To me it is a comfort to know I can match the driver and identification with the app, and to know that my trip is in the system, in case of any problems/discrepancies. Not to mention an Uber driver's livelihood/income is dependent upon reviews:) As far as South Beach at night goes, I haven't been, but just like any other big city I would just be safe and use common sense...well lit public places, watch your drinks closely, etc. And HAVE FUN:-)
