At the Mandarin Oriental, Miami, guests have called out the exceptional service and immaculate cleanliness as highlights of their stay. While the comfortable beds and scenic views are often appreciated, some guests have expressed concerns over the need for room updates and the slow room service. Despite the hotel's vibrant atmosphere and praised amenities like the pool and breakfast, the value for money comes into question with reports of high costs and outdated aspects. Nevertheless, the hotel's prime location near downtown Miami remains a strong draw for many travelers.

From the moment we arrived at this beautiful hotel we were greeted warmly and shown to our room by the Hotel Manager. The concierge made our reservations at restaurants as we were celebrating my husband’s birthday. The hotel made a warm celebration for him and a beautiful little cake with a card and balloons were in our room.

We took Uber to the hotel, takes about 20mins from the MIA airport and cost about $18. Good location with good view. As we have high expectations with the Mandarin Oriental chain hotels. First impression was average, not sure if it is due to Covid, not enough staff to greet us front to help us unload our bags from the car. Then, check in process felt rushed, we checked in on the first desk on the left out of the check in / out desk. The lady did not introduce herself, she basically rushed off getting my credit card and told me there will be a $250/night hold for incidentals then went and give me a piece of paper for the rest of the info. I explained to her that this is the first time staying with them at this location. Had some questions but felt rushed overall.
Room is tidy, they have a HelloMo app on site, where you can text or WhatsApp messages to request for service.
One of the day, requested room service for freshening room was not done and we came back in the evening. Notified the night manager Sebastian (sorry if spelling is not correct). He personally came to the room and apologized and had house keeping came to the room and make things right. This is the kind of service that makes Mandarin Oriental different and during check out, the front desk manager again apologize their mistakes.
Overall happy with the hotel service, also understand that during Covid, staff tried hard to please guess and keep their safety. We have stayed at many Mandarin Oriental hotels around the globe and has always been "A Fan". This experience did not change that. Thank you!

Dear Run_ar0und, Thank you for being a ‘Fan” of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group and for your recent stay in Miami. I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Your constructive comments are very important to us. I am delighted that overall, you were happy with your stay despite the service lapses that you encountered. I am so sorry that you felt rushed during your arrival and that there was not enough staff at the front entrance. This is extremely uncharacteristic of our level of service and I can assure you this is not how we wanted your arrival experience to be. We will address this with the concerned colleague and reinforce training and adjust our staffing levels to ensure this does not happen again. I also want to apologize for the miscommunication related to the servicing of your room. I am glad that Sebastian was able to make things right. Again, please accept our apologies and thank you for your valued comments. We hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back. Please feel free to contact me directly, as I would be happy to personally ensure you have a memorable and enjoyable experience with us. Kind Regards, Mauricio Miguelena Hotel Manager

With covid ruining all my travel plans, I was finally able to get away with mandarin oriental "3rd day free" offer. Being a fan of MO i was upgraded to bay suite. Unfortunately on arrival I was informed that the upgraded room wouldn't be ready until 6pm. So until the room was available we just went to the pool and their private "beach". It was virtually empty, Im sure pre-covid there is an attendant on duty. The beach was nice to boat watch and relax.

One thing to note, due to covid all bars are closed which includes the MO lounge bar. But the pool bar is open from 11am-6pm. It didnt make a lot of sense that the pool bar can stay open but the regular bar is closed. I guess they can say the pool is for residents only.

The bay view suite has 2 balconies, 1 1/2 bath and a large soaking tub. The room is showing some wear and tear like peeling paint but with covid going on hotels have bigger problems.

The balcony has 1 lounge chair and 2 chairs. One thing that didn't make sense about the balcony is there is a divider between each side, instead of having one large continuous balcony. Other note about the dividers, they are pretty much see thru so your next door neighbors can see through
them.

With covid there is no turndown service but you can get your room made up in the morning as long as you leave the room. They also supply you with more towels and wash cloth as well as any needed travel amenities.

It was a very enjoyable weekend at the hotel. I can see it being a great hotel when the pandemic is over. I will definitely come back

Oh and I would like to shout out the man that delivered the food (I wish I remembered his name). We had a short conversation about hurricanes after I told him I work in lake charles. It really shows how great their people are.

I just returned from a stay of several days at The MO Miami and can enthusiastically recommend this lovely hotel. The location on private Brickell Key is unbeatable, in close proximity to Brickell, but also providing some privacy and respite from the hustle and bustle. The hotel is absolutely elegant and luxurious. The rooms are immaculately clean, silent, and very restful. The bed was so very comfortable. Speaking of which, I have an allergy to down and asked ahead of time that my room be made feather free. It was exactly that when I arrived, unlike at so many other luxury hotels where it has taken multiple calls sometimes into the night to get that done. The pool area is not large, but it's very nice and has terrific water and skyline views. Pool service was flawless. As far as I can tell, each room has outside space in the form of a small balcony. That was very nice. The lobby bar is high end yet fun. The entire lobby has the same stunning skyline views as the pool area. I did not eat dinner at the restaurant, but the a la carte breakfast was delicious with a large menu. A buffet breakfast is offered on weekends. Service throughout this hotel is professional, prompt, courteous, and friendly. Admittedly, this is an expensive property, but if it's within your budget, you will not be disappointed. On the contrary, you will be as delighted as I was.

Everything about our stay was exceptional, the service received from the entire hotel staff was warm, engaging and genuine.

The food and the service received at LaMar was every bit as good as the last time we visited the property and we cancelled another restaurant reservation to dine at La Mar a second time during our stay as the food was so good!

The room booked was the junior suite on the stay longer rate which we really appreciated as it allowed us to stay at the property for 7 nights which would normally be longer than we would stay, and due to the testing needed for travel we wanted to stay in the same location, this was fantastic value and we dined in the room on two occasions, because the view is unbeatable, the food and service was second to none.

The Mandarin Oriental Miami is a very special property and the staff make the experience seamless, welcoming and hugely enjoyable. The added bonus of seeing a Manatee and sharks from our balcony every morning made this trip very special indeed!

The ability to go for a run or walk around the small and friendly Brickell Key island every day makes this property unique as you are in the Downtown area of Miami but in a secluded area with amazing views of the city,

Don’t get mislead by the brand as it is not even close to what you expect or you are used to receive from this brand. Travelling around the world I know that in the US five star does not mean necessarily five star however this mandarin is a disaster. Not really friendly reception or phone operators. Hostess in the only restaurant forgot even to smile let’s not ask for something more. Throws two breakfast menus on the table and that is already positive. Not great choice of breakfast in La Mar. Even the cappuccino is average. Rooms have questionable hygiene. Don’t touch the phone as the dust been there for weeks or even months. Not used to ask for bottled water in five star hotel to be honest. Avoid rooms floor number and followed by 17 as apparently they have balcony however you cannot sit as there are no chairs there. All this for 800 usd per night
Don’t ask for late check out as even there is availability the answer will be- no
One thing is sure , no go to mandarin oriental in Miami for me.
Apologies forgot the positive- great location and great views which can not compensate the negatives unfortunately

Arriving mid evening we found no frontman available outside the entry and the driver had to carry our bags inside to the bell desk. The duty bellman had the excuse that he was busy doing something else, but one wonders at hotel management who allow their guests to go without an immediate welcome upon arrival. Later, our baggage stood for a good twenty minutes in the foyer until we returned in search of it, even though the bell staff were taking the baggage of guests who arrived subsequently to us. Moreover, arriving at the front desk we were told they had no record of a reservation even though we had a Regent cruise line invoice showing two nights paid for or comped. Sebastian, the FO Manager on duty, came to the rescue and arranged a room even though we had to present a credit card to which over $900 was immediately reserved. Once past those direst impressions, the remainder of the stay was a blast. The staff were uniformly pleasant, welcoming, efficient and professional. The room provided a view back to the mainland and was adequately spacious, well equipped with most amenities, and with comfortable beds. The room had some unique features: 1. there was a five foot square hole in the wall separating the bedroom from the bathroom with a blind used to provide any required privacy; 2. the coffee maker came with the smallest of cups adequate only for an espresso and there was no milk or milk substitute or larger cup for any other serving; 3. the balcony was maybe one foot wide and provided no space for seating (as was the case with many rooms); 4. the most well equipped electronics panel for PDA charging and video and audio feed that I have ever seen; 5. shower gel, shampoo and conditioner in fixed dispensers which unlike so may others pumped a goodly supply of lotion; and 6. one of the best shower assemblies and the strongest and hottest supply of water leading to long, luxuriant showers - although the large soaking tub looked very appealing. Although we were staying only for two nights, and we suspect that the average length of stay is pretty short due to much cruise business, the property well lived up to expectations of the flag.

My mother, daughter and I stayed and the Mandarin Oriental over presidents weekend desperate for some sun and a reprieve from the snow. Our flight got delayed and we spent one night in the Holiday Inn express before finally getting to MIami. We should have stayed there for the duration as the service was infinitely better. Everything is over the top expensive at the Mandarin Oriental--breakfast buffet is ~50 per person with additional mandatory gratuity added to the tab, but they actually do not wait on you. (at all)! Never could get any sugar for our coffee and practically had to tackle someone to get our check. A massage goes for 300-500$!

You would think we would actually be paying to be spoiled. The pool is miniscule as is the beach. Not enough beach or pool chairs and we were not allowed to move them so that we could put three together when some finally opened up after waiting for about 1 hour. Then once we got three chairs together, they had no towels! Again, just about had to beg for some ice water and lunch. Food was cold and gross. Went to pay the check and they were out of printer paper so had to wait AGAIN. The room's safe was broken. No hair dryer. No cleaning service despite being out of the room for >8 hours. It would be so nice to have clean towels. My 80 year old mother finally snitched some from the cart down the hall so we could take a quick shower before dinner. We were treated like royalty at the Holiday Inn Express near the Cleveland Airport and like personal non grata at the Madarin Oriental. Will never ever come back.

Overall, the hotel experience was wonderful and comfortable as expected from this category of hotel. Our room had a beautiful view of the bay and the Miami skyline. The room rate was the highest we have ever paid at this hotel, which I attributed to the fact that the demand for rooms at this time seemed rather high for the month of July. The service staff was well trained, efficient, friendly and very well mannered and respectful. The lobby bar bartenders and service personnel were excellent in every respect. The food at the bar was great and the drinks did not disappoint. The only disappointment we experienced was at La Mar, which is the restaurant with a beautiful view of the bay if you are seated at the outside patio towards the front of the patio. Although we had made the reservation a few weeks ahead of time, the table they gave us was the worst table we have ever been given at that restaurant. We have gone to LaMar on many occasions and every time we ask for a table with a view, we have been given a table with a reasonably good view. Unfortunately that didn’t occur this time. Never mind that we were guests at the hotel for the next two nights and were staying at a bay view room, which was not inexpensive. Additionally, I made sure to belong to the FOMO because we live this i articular hotel so much. Moreover, our server seemed co fused about what to recommend from the menu because I had told him that I was allergic to shellfish. On previous occasions, the servers have had no issues recommending several plates on the menu that had no shellfish components. On our next stay, we will most likely not be dining at LaMar.

This hotel is a perfectly pleasant hotel. I expected super luxury but it didn't quite live up to that.
Our room was pleasant, very clean, coffee making facilities would have been appreciated especially after a long day sightseeing. Instead I waited 25 mins for room service to bring me a coffee. We could hear the toilet flushing and a bath running in an adjacent room. Not really what one wants to hear.
The bar was small and as the hotel obviously hosts delegations it could be quite noisy and busy but the staff were very pleasant.
The concierge was knowledgeable and helpful.
Breakfast was fine. We did not use the Peruvian restaurant. We did have lunch at the pool bar. It was very good. The staff at the pool deck area were super helpful.
The hotel is ever so slightly off the beaten track. We felt a little isolated from everything. It didn't help that to go anywhere one has to cross over a very windy bridge.
We were unable to secure a late check out but were told we could use the facilities in the Spa to change and freshen up for a late flight. I was very unhappy about this, however I was completely wrong. The Spa was superb. The staff were lovely and the facilities were the best I have ever come across. Well done Mandarin Oriental for providing a super place to use.
Because the hotel is obviously used for conferences etc it lacked the relaxed feel of a holiday hotel and I would perhaps hesitate to stay there again for that reason.
