Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had to call into the Talbingo petrol station (thank you for being open😊) on our way to Jindabyne and loved the look of the area so booked three nights at the Caravan Park to add onto our trip, leaving Jindabyne after New Year. So pleased that we did.

It is a lovely and well-managed caravan park and we had a quiet spot under a spreading tree. Our site was a little hard to get into and required good reversing skills, but once in, it was great. The facilities were clean and never a queue even though the park was full. Check-in was fast and friendly although we had a little difficulty opening the boom gate with our ‘token’ .. oops.

We managed a dip in the pool which was refreshing and enjoyed our three days here although it was disappointing to learn that we were unable to swim in the Jounama pondage as it looked so inviting across the road. We did check out Talbingo Dam as a possible swimming site but a bit of a windy drive and no great swimming area when you get there.

Definitely worth a stop and great location for jaunts out and about although it is necessary to bring all supplies with you as the ‘supermarket’ has a very limited stock and slow service.

We visited Talbingo for 3 nights, hired a non powered site near the footbridge up towards the rear of the park. Owners, Diane & husband (sorry did not get his name) are very friendly & informative. Amenities block is clean & roomy. No heaters. Camp Kitchen has what you need if you utilise camp kitchens, user friendly, fridges, lots of cutlery, cooking utensils, stove top etc... Undercover BBQ area. There is a outdoor pool next to a playground, nothing fancy. There is a disabled toilet near the camp kitchen area too. I would recommend getting a site close to amenities if camping or caravaning without loo / shower, as only one amenities block in the park & the park is quite large. Not particularly well lit either, so a torch is a must when walking around. We met lots of lovely people during our stay, Snowy Hydro 2.0 workers, which was an added bonus. Also BYO fire pit as a fire is a must, especially in June. Highlight for me was all the beautiful birds, we had some super friendly Magpies hang with us (just wanting our food really), Kurrawongs & Bower Birds. I love birds. And nice to have some Kangaroos stop by too. All in all a great weekend in a beautiful location.

We stayed in the three bedroom lake front cabins. They were exceptionally clean and had excellent amenities including a very clean washing machine and dryer. The balcony was spacious and well furnished, and we enjoyed a few bbq’s on the private balcony bbq.

Reception were helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning again soon.

You cannot access the water to swim across the road.

The cabins all need a deep clean, including the aircon units, behind doors & holes in flyscreens (also covered in webs). They are on bricks that slope & steps that look like they are about to fall apart.
3 out of 4 cabins in our group had no verandah or outdoor seating area, the one that did was very small & falling apart.
You get less than basics supplied & not enough rubbish bags!
We (4 lots of families) found staff defensive, unaware what their own signs in cabins say & not that friendly or welcoming.
The beds are horrible, hard & kids ones are vinyl hot boxes. Main bed is only a double.
Not enough hot water for a family of 4.
The bug situation was out of control, they all got inside too (nothing provided to help).
Pool & playground are small & need replacing.
Honestly the whole place needs to be gutted & rebuilt - the 4 new cabins at the front looked nice but are very overpriced for the park & its facilities.
The aircon unit was filthy too.
I could go on & on.
None of us would return.

In regards to your comments, all our cabins have photos online on our website, including specifically 60, 61, their numbers are on the photos. These photos clearly show each cabin, inside & out, with no verandahs. Perhaps you should have been aware of what you had booked prior to arriving. All the cabins have enough crockery & cooking equipment for the number of guests per cabin. You were booked into the the most basic cabins we have available and they were priced accordingly. They do have small hot water systems, as was explained to one of your party that complained about the hot water, if the showers are spaced out there isn't any problems and the water reheats quickly. It also states on the website under each type of cbin what size bed, 5 & 6 berth cabins have a double bed, the apartments & villas have a queen bed. I'm not sure what staff were defensive, i wasn't aware there was any problems, we provided all the extras you had requested over the 4 days. The only "staff" we had was my husband & I and our 3 teenage children. As for the bugs, we can't control mother nature. The Friday night was horrific for bugs that effected everyone in the park, including our office & house. The comment "the whole place needs to be gutted & rebuilt" really hit a very sensitive nerve. After what we endured in January 2020 and what we fought to protect, you very nearly got your wish. This is our home & our livelihood, we are not a 5 star luxury big name park & there is nothing in our advertising that suggests this. We have a lot of return guests who enjoy our area, our facilities & our low prices. These small parks, like ours, are privately owned. We haven't received a scrap of funding, all capital works are paid for by our own funds. Since we have been here over the last 8 years we have scheduled 1 major project each year to upgrade. Yes, we would dearly love to replace all the old cabins, but that is not an option for us. Most of the cabins have had some refurb work completed. Most of our guests are country people on a family budget and we are able to provide them with affordable accommodation. 80% of our guests are repeat customers and we greatly appreciate their business. As for accessing the water across the road, that is exactly right, it is across the road & controlled by Snowy Hydro, this is not our property or water.

We booked a cabin, told it was delux, it was a hot brown box.
It was clean, but sheets were starched, so crispy & noisy.
Air con took forever to cool the hut. In winter it would be freezing
Bed hard
Sofa spongy

In regards to your comments 18/2/21, I strongly disagree with your remarks. We do not market any of our cabins as deluxe. The pictures are very clear on our website of the exact cabins that we have. We do have new Villas in the park, but still, these are not marketed as deluxe. We are a small affordable family park, we do not market anything as deluxe as we don't have any deluxe accommodation. If you were after deluxe accommodation, I suggest you book into Nimbo Fork Lodge or the like, as they do have deluxe accommodation. In regards to the "noisy" ??? sheets, I will pass this on to our Linen Supply Company!

we were put next to some people that had a permanent caravan. these peoples attitude was that they owned the caravan park and could do whatever they wanted. this included partying EVERY night beyond 'noise curfew times'. they only quietened down after they were told off by the park owner, who only acted upon my complaints to do so. these people with the permanent site made us feel very unwelcome and that we were intruding on their turf. on news years eve, i expected the parting to go well into the night, however at 3.30 am i got the park owner out of bed to complain (at this time the rest of the park was dead silent). by 4.30 am the noise finally subsided and we managed approx 2 hours sleep until awoken by neighboring kids making unruly noise at 7 am. we packed up and left that morning. the park owners made excuses for the other people and tried to justify their behavior. we were refunded the nights we were not going to use and was suggested we come back some other time. having this experience, we will not return to this caravan park nor recommend it to other people.
