Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped here on a business trip a real gem of a place totally unexpected of a B&B.

Annie and Scottie made us really welcome and cooked us a wonderful evening meal at short notice.

We stayed for 3 nights and each evening a fantastic meal was served the crowing glory being a rib roast of beef which was cooked to perfection. All served with vegetables. Always served with wonderful home made bread.
Nothing was any trouble my travelling companions even had laundry done which was all washed and ironed for them the next morning.
Both have good knowledge of the area and told us lots of interesting facts about the area we found the icebergs!
Great stay nice to have some home comforts

What a fabulous time we had at the Bayview Country Inn in Lower Island Cove, NL.!!!!!
My husband and I had planned to spend just one night, but within an hour of arriving we decided to stay 2 nights and would happily have stayed a week at least if we had time.

Executive chef Scottie, his wife Annie and Mom Nellie, were the sweetest, most welcoming, hospitable people we have ever come across in the Bed and Breakfast business. My husband is a very picky eater and he totally devoured everything that Scottie prepared for us, not only was the food really delicious , but the presentation is worthy of a swank hotel. Fresh cod right off the boat , Fresh salmon dinner, was the best we had ever tasted, (and he eats alot of fish)local produce, quality ingredients, homemade bread, hearty bacon and eggs breakfast. .

The rooms are nicely furnished with very comfortable beds, tv and ensuite in our room, view of the bay, Very Clean, nice decor,

There is fantastic, sightseeing along the Baccalieu Trail, the drive along the Conception Bay North, north of Carbonear up to Bay de Verde, is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PART OF BEAUTIFUL NEWFOUNDLAND.

SCOTTIE and Annie went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable and even managed a kitchen party with local musicians, which was a real treat for us.
My husband had never been to NL before, and now he is HOOKED, LINE and SINKER!!
Not to mention , every tourist wants to see a MOOSE,(not on the hightway) and we saw one in the backyard woods. A total Thrill!

The grand dame of the home, MOM Nellie, is the sweetest little woman who adds a great smile and welcome as well. Annie and Scottie are very interesting and give pointers on what is happening around the bay,

I could go on and on , but check it out for yourself! ONly 1hr. 20 min. from St. John;s or 20 min. from Carbonear!

Thanks a million, Scottie, Annie and Nellie for making my sweetheart weekend a memory of a lifetime for my husband and I. See you next year to watch the sunset over Conception Bay from your deck!

Best of Luck,
Jackie and Michel.

Two night stay...Upon arrival, we unknowingly parked the car over Scottie's septic tank/well (no signage and we are not psychic)...Scottie's first words were to get the car off his septic tank!! growl!growl!growl! Then, grumpy Scottie showed us our room. We had made arrangements over the phone with Annie for an extra bed, but Scottie told us that it was alot alot of work to move that bed into our room for just two people! Welcome! growl!growl!growl! We nearly walked out but it was the end of the day, very foggy, and there are no other places.
The room and ensuite were very clean, but so big that it felt hollow and void of personality. The beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was filling, but very standard, considering it was prepared by a so-called "professional chef" (actually, mostly a camp chef). I have had better bacon&egg/homemade bread and jam elsewhere in Nfld.
Annie let me do a load of laundry. Despite having told her that I would be hanging it up to dry (fickle fabric), I found out that she had put the whole load in the dryer!!! Luckily, I hauled it out of the dryer half the way through!
On Day 2, we rested in our room after breakfast, only to be woken by the sound of a key opening our room door because Scottie was giving the grand tour to a bunch of prospective guests!!! Yes, there was Scottie and a half dozen embarrassed strangers looking in our room! OMG! He did not even knock first. What next?!! He gave an apology later in the afternoon saying that he didn't know we were in our room. Ever hear of knocking?
The prices for his evening meals are quite high- $25 and up- for some ribs/fish and potatoes, and a piece of Annie's cheescake. Not even local produce or organic, just stuff from Dominion and a local distributor. Our budget did not allow for this, so we drove to the local drive-in. Scottie, perhaps in a gesture to help us forget his Un-hospitality, promised us complimentary pieces of Annie's cheesecake after our return that evening... but it never materialized and, by 10:30pm, we gave up and went to our room. So rude.
Lower Island Cove is one of the many scenic little towns going down the shore from Salmon Cove to Old Perlican. Places to stay and eat a decent meal are few and far between on that entire shore...so my advice is to stay and eat in the Hr.Grace/Carbonear/Salmon Cove area and do a daytrip down this very pretty shore. Maybe pick up a Subway lunch in Carbonear to eat on Northern Bay Sands, or, continue on past Old Perlican to the other scenic shore to see New Melbourne, etc. and stop for a bite at the Family Restaurant in Winterton.
Newfoundland hospitality is NOT found at the Bayview Country Inn in Lower Island Cove. Don't get misguided into paying a minimum of $95/night and paying over $25 per person for an uneventful meal. Your bed maybe clean and comfy here, but the hosts don't make you feel that way!!!
