The "Queen of the Florida Keys", Cheeca Lodge & Spa has been an exclusive hideaway for celebrities, business leaders and U.S. Presidents for over 70 years. Set on 27 private oceanfront acres in Islamorada, Cheeca has been constructed with a porte-cochere entrance, traditional Florida Keys architecture and spirited tradition of “barefoot elegance” -- a term coined at Cheeca. Along with a coffee bar and top-shelf lobby bar, Cheeca boasts three distinctive restaurants: Atlantic’s Edge, Cheeca’s flagship restaurant offering a seasonal fine-dining menu of fresh local seafood, prime steaks and organic local produce, Nikai Sushi Bar and Restaurant offering the Florida Keys’ freshest sushi, Asian-inspired fare and a unique selection of Japanese sake and wine; and family-friendly Mia Cucina restaurant transporting Naples, Italy into the heart of Islamorada serving up made to order artisan pizzas, pastas and salads.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The pros- property is beautiful. The water is amazing. Location is excellent with lots of good restaurants in very close proximity. Unfortunately, the service and activities are really lacking. While we were there, there were no chairs at the pool and they were out of fishing poles, paddle boards and bikes for my son. After that, there is not a whole lot to do. There is a small beach but really no swimming. I asked the concierge if they could book me a tennis clinic at the resort (on the list of activities) and she said I had to call. Really? Upon checkout, I have 5 “room charges” for about $250 on my bill that are not mine, have called and emailed repeatedly with no response. One is even from two days after we checked out. Maybe it was the time of year we went but for the money, there are better places out there.

We stay at Cheeca regularly, this last stay was bad. Prices are crazy high for what you actually get. Rooms are very dated and all need updating. Carpets dirty, hair balls in drains, beds were old and uncomfortable. My exterior door would not lock. The rooms I had were all upgraded rooms that I paid extra for at check in. When checking in they will try to sell you an upgrade, don’t do it! Restaurants on property are all over priced and mediocre at best. I have been bringing my family here for years but unfortunately I don’t think we will ever go back:(

Can’t beat the location! Beautiful setting. Sunsets are gorgeous. Front desk staff needs training. They should be better staffed during peak hours of check in. Room was nice, but needs updating as far as cleaning & bathroom cleanliness. But the bed, sheets & pillows were great.

The hotel is just lovely! The setting is beautiful, very calming. Check in desk people could use friendliness training. Everyone else was very nice and helpful. The main restaurant food was fair at best. The wait staff was wonderful. Room was very comfortable.

Firstly, the location is lovely. The pier, the water, the grounds, all very pretty. The staff, mostly, are congenial. A few folks weren't very good at hiding their annoyance on their face, despite my attempts at being friendly. The food is overpriced by a lot. While I understand that food will be overpriced, this felt like being gouged for less than what was promised. Pepperoni pizza was bland. The cheeseburger and fries were well made, but I wasn't even offered mustard. Drinks were great but cocktails are easily 20 bucks a pop. Someone in our group ordered something allegedly containing warm water lobster and the meal contained claw meat. Warm water lobsters don't have claws! The spa services were nice. The facial I received was fantastic. The 80 minute ultimate massage was ok. Definitely helped with some problem muscles/tendons. The phone in our room didn't work and while we told multiple people, only one offered to have someone come look at it, late on our last night. There's rust on the light fixtures in the bathroom. The fire suppression system was uncovered so it just looked like a hole in the wall. The Jacuzzi wasn't working. To get room service one night, I tried calling 4 times before someone picked up. Due to water pressure issues, the entire resort was without running water for a small time during 2 days of our stay. While the location is certainly luxurious, I don't believe that service nor maintainance is quite up to snuff with how I would qualify "luxury".

This resort is the best. All the rooms are amazing and we had several different kinds. Gorgeous views. Every single employee we interacted with went above and beyond to help with any request we had. Their assistance for my brother’s wedding was phenomenal. Will definitely be back!

We enjoyed an amazing 5 days at Cheeca Lodge. The resort is right off the highway, but once you drive in you’ll think you are somewhere in the Caribbean. It is such a beautiful and well-maintained property. Our guest room was spacious and the beds are incredibly comfortable.

I’ll start off with the good…. Great location with very friendly staff. Unfortunately, the place needs a major facelift especially for the price. The water wasn’t working for sometime this morning and we weren’t given proper updates. We were not given the option to shower in the spa nor given anything for the inconvenience. As for our “beach bungalow” it’s hard to call it one as it’s not right on the beach (ours sits behind other bungalows) nor is it its own freestanding building.
