Ever been somewhere and feel there's something very important you have to do? Maybe it's fishing or scuba diving or nothing at all. The subtropical ambiance of the Kon Tiki Resort is that kind of place. You can enjoy swimming, fishing, diving, snorkeling and boating all year round. You'll be in paradise while soaking up the sun next to our heated freshwater pool or on the sandy beach of our private lagoon.

Not like any other “resort”. They do not have non motorized equipment available for free. You have to rent everything from other places. They do have a boat ramp if you travel with a boat. Other than that things need to be upgraded. Kon-Tiki does have a lagoon that is a waste

This little gem takes you back in time to road-side style motels. Tucked in a little cove with water views from most rooms. Rooms were small, unless you get a "family"style room, but still comfortable. All were air-conditioned and clean. Staff was minimal though, we only saw

Response from DEXTERIslamorada, Manager at Kon-Tiki Resort
Responded 18 Dec. 2018
It seems that Mr. Lobster King is a bit misinformed. Each unit (building) at the Kon Tiki Resort is owned by different owners. We do not allow pets in any of our rental units. Just as he stated that he was very allergic to cats, many people are allergic to dogs. If we were pet friendly, the cleaning and sanitizing process is costly and lengthy. We only have 23 total rental units here and it is not cost effective to deem any one particular unit as being pet friendly. This is why it was voted on by the owners many years ago not to allow pets. The big sign that says " No Pets and No Jet Skis Allowed " is a whopping 20" wide by 16" high. The cat in question does not belong to any of the owners, it is owned by the managers and it stays in the apartment adjoining the office which is not a rental unit and the cat has never been inside any of the rental units. This is the very first complaint that we have ever received from anyone relative to the cat in the office. We are by no means hypocritical in any sense about this issue.

Wow!! My family and I had been looking forward to visiting the keys and staying at Kon Tiki for Memorial Day weekend. We had pre-booked Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, $500 each night for 2 rooms. Tropical storm Albert formed in the Gulf the Friday we were supposed to go. We

Thank you for considering the Kon Tiki Resort. I would like to respond to you about your concerns. Guests that have been staying with us for many years know that these allegations are not true. We strive to provide our clients with courteous and friendly service. In this particular business, we have found that some clients make a reservation for 2 people and after they check in, 3 or more of their friends or family show up later and we most certainly must address this. Some people seem gracious and don't seem to have a problem paying for the additional people. Sometimes the particular room that was reserved can not handle more people than the reservation was made for and when some people don't hear what they want to hear regardless of max. occupancy codes and insist that their friends can sleep on air mattresses that they brought, the conflict begins. This is typically when the client threatens us that they will post negative reviews about us. Please read some of the responses that I have made especially the one about "golf cart commando's". Thank you.

Yes, our experience there was as expected for the price. Too many people book these lower priced rooms, then expect 5 star resort surroundings. If that's what you need, than stop booking rooms under $250 a night and you'll be happy.

"Unit 4 has a screen porch plus an outside deck. It overlooks the water and the grounds. Excellent location."
"Single couples may enjoy Unit #7; Family style rental is lucky to have #4."
"Rooms near the road are noisier. All Units from the middle on to the water and pool area are much quieter."
